I often feel “ I just LOVE this item, it’s so cool.” And I wonder about why people aren’t beating down my door to buy it. Thanks for offering some reasons why that might be and offering suggestions about really getting the thing sold.
Thank you for another great video. FYI-A year ago when my office closed ( i had only 2 jobs in 35 years, always playing it safe) when i was laid off i sold a few of my own items . Found out i really enjoyed it and jumped in with both feet. In the begining your videos were soooo encouraging (unlike friends and family who thought i was crazy) i can honestly say your videos kept me going when i would get discouraged. One in particular i probably watched 50 times. Thank you so much ! Sourcing quality items is still my biggest challange. I urge you , as a reseller since 2000; do NOT use Goodwill and other corporate "thrift stores" as your Main source ! Find a GOOD Flea market !! They all "skim" great vintage stuff right off the top.
Hey Scot: Another great video, we all have death piles, the longer I have something the harder it is to justify spending the time to get it listed. My focus is getting the items I just purchased listed. Most of my listings have not been listed for more than a year, I will often end listings and repost as "sell similar", I will start with the oldest listings first. I will do approx. 10% of my store every 2-3 weeks. It works amazingly well, right after the repost I will normally sell a few items that I reposted, this is also a good time to adjust the price and change up the pictures a little. Been working on my death pile every week trying to get everything either listed or donated, I work in a small space and need all the space for new things coming in.

Thank you for this video, we are 10 year steady ebayers and we too have loads of duds from a decade ago that have been revamped, repriced, repictured and still they sit. It is important, especially if you get followers to freshen it up with new stock, know when to say bye! We are cleaning out our ebay listings and having a huge garage sale in april, everything $2 each just to recoupe some money and get it gone! Beating on a dead horse doesn't get you across the finish line!
100%. I agree 100%. I work with a local family that is working hard, but struggling a bit. So, I give them any leftover inventory. I have been in their shoes and I know they appreciate it. I can move out stuff that needs to go and they can turn it into a little bit of profit. We both win.
I like your transparency about the reality of 'get rich quick' videos. I won't watch those because they're misleading. I'm brand new and I appreciate your honesty and I've learned a lot from you already. As we inch our way into our retirement years, I feel more confident that this is the right path for us.
I find my sales are slow in March so this is the time I do the spring cleaning. One added challenge for Canadian sellers is the shipping cost. Our items have to be worth it for people to want to buy from us. Most people mentally include that shipping cost when looking at an item and to them, it has to be worth the over all cost, no matter what you think the item is worth. So if I have something listed for $25 and the shipping is going to be $25, the person sees that as a $50 item and decides if it is worth it to them to by it. Sometimes our items are nifty but not worth it with that shipping. A solution from time to time is to make lots so people get more bang for their shipping buck. When sourcing, ask yourself, is the buyer going to want to pay all that shipping and what is a realistic price to set this at so it will sell, etc. It has helped me a lot when sourcing. Side Note: An option to get the sourcing bugs out, is to put things in your cart and then do a review and only buy the top sellers out of that cart. You can then put the other items back but feel like you have had a good shop. ☺
All around fantastic advice. I really need to do some work on my own shipping policies with regards to Canadians. They just get the worst deal imaginable. I need to figure out the least costly method and implement that into my own store.
@@TheChaChingKingThe biggest issues that come with buying from the US is the border fees. I think eBay takes care of that. 🤔 I doubt the shipping alone, ends up more expensive than if purchased in Canada. Don't be too hard on yourself. ☺ I can send a parcel to California for less money than sending the same parcel to Alberta. 😋
Great video. Thanks for sharing. This month I am spring cleaning! For any items that have been sitting for 2 years, I have dropped my price drastically and listed on FB market place. A few items have sold on FBMP. At the end of the month, I am donated those left overs to my church’s yard sale. I have limited space. Out with the old for me! This will be my model going forward, adjusting where needed. 🎉🎉

Instead of dropping prices from the back end might it not be better to end and sell similar so that the item gets the added visibility of a new listing. Or even running a sale so the customer can see the markdown giving an incentive to buy. I have been toying with ideas about how to move stale inventory and so appreciate your ideas. We have done that, too. We've tried sales on those items, raising the prices, ending and selling similar. For us, if I have an item that isn't selling for me and isn't an exciting enough of an item to rework the listing, I'd rather spend my time working on the next item. That said, ALL of those are things someone could try to see what fits them and their store. 100%
Definitely “oddly encouraging.” I’m not the only one! I’ve been pulling things that haven’t sold and either revamping the listing, changing the price, or donating it. It’s a long process, but I do a few a day between working on the profit pile and shipping. I think just doing that has tweaked the algorithm enough to get me more sales. Also, I’ve learned this trick: whenever I get a Make Offer To Likers for an item I’ve had a while, before I send an offer, I check comps on it to see whether my pricing is competitive, and then I revise the listing to make sure the shipping is up-to-date with USPS changes, such as Ground Advantage instead of Priority Mail. That has been a really good call. And this morning, an item came up for offer that I wasn’t sure I still had. So before I’d send an offer, I searched for it and found it. Then I made the offer.
This was actually a very encouraging video knowing you’re not alone,you’re not the only one making mistakes and there’s ways you can try to correct them and learn as you go. Thanks for the info! I recently sold some dishes i had listed for 3 years. I can't recall they had any interest at all but it took just that one buyer. For a while I was selling similar with old stuff. I hate that I've lost all that initial listing information on those items.
I don't end and relist very often. I tried it methodically for several months. I just didn't see enough difference to nudity my time. But I suppose it depends on the items and the store.

The reason that 1960s Neiman Marcus coat did not sell-- is because of the SIZE. Vintage clothes were a bit more "snug" back then . Had this been an XL - it would be gone now. (It's REALLY hard to find vintage clothing in XL !) . I still make mistakes after 23 years !!!! BUT, I know a lot more now . 6:55. YES! I have a LOT of this type of stuff !! You are so right about the vintage sizing. I bought vintage clothes as a fairly skinny teenager and I still could not fit into half of the vintage clothes. Now when I find a larger Vintage size...I know I can price up! My grandmother was one of the few "stout" women from the 50's and she made most of her own clothes plus basic stuff from Sears.

I finally sold all of my James Patterson books that had listed for 2 years. I had them listed individually did I bundle them together last month and took some good pictures of the books. And I price the bundle under $20 plus shipping for 6 JP books. I want by JP books anymore.
It's always helpful to see the "other side" of reselling. That's why I started my RUclips channel, to be honest. Its fun to watch the hauls and the top 10 sales of last week, but what is actually selling for the average reseller on a daily basis? And how many items do we have that we bought in good faith and then ended up sitting for months and years? If we're honest...lolol...LOTS!
You’re awesome for putting this video out. Personally I don’t want to hear all the fluff. It annoys me. I want to hear the highs and lows. I want everyone who deserves it to do well, but when I watch video after video of people finding these epic items and selling them top dollar it also gets frustrating!! Not to mention finding the same things as me and selling them for 4 times the price I get😤
I'm probably as guilty as anyone of showing the good stuff. But I like to follow up a "what sold" with some reality, too. Since most of my viewers are new to the game, the last thing I want to do is discourage someone. It's not all sunshine and roses. Someone's it's mop pads and flags. 😆

I suspected that some big sellers here do have buried items, and if it is clothes, they go out of style etc, on my, not sure if I will be able to deal with stagnations. I just started about 5 weeks ago, and currently in a stage of doing nothing because of the 100 listing a month restriction for the new sellers, which I had no clue about when started, b/c no one really talks about it when teaching new comers. Sold 30, still have 70, and sales are just dead, and nothing I can do about it, except creating drafts. My personality thrives on quick energy exchange, I get depressed easily with stagnations. To hoard non moving items in my possession is pretty depressing.... so I am thinking that I would probably wrap up everything, and sell my 300 items sourced at the coming flea market season. Just not my thing.
Truly self-reflective, and kudos to you for recognizing it. You know, this isn't everybody's thing. And that's not a slight in any way. I taught elementary school and loved it. But, one of my best friends taught 1st grade. DEFINITELY not my thing. I played around with WhatNot, which lots of people have flocked to. Not my thing. Great post.

I usually do the typical end/sell similar from time to time, and items which consistently got several views in the past are now getting very few, if any! Many of the items I have for sale are one of 5 or 6 for sale on all of eBay, and I usually have better pictures and better prices than my competition, so I don't understand why it's been so stagnated for the last couple of months...

Scott & Melody, I have been watching every video you have put out on RUclips. They are so encouraging and assists a lot of other’s in their EBay endeavors. I wish I had started watching prior to thinking I should buy, buy, buy items and all the assessories required to ship, print, bag and box. Now, I’m scared of shipping things and afraid of failure. I have a ton of inventory but not even start listing them, except 2 items, saved. I’m am petrified of the shipping process. I guess you could say, “I got the buggy in front of the horse!!” I have watched the shipping videos several times and I was wondering about the printing of the label and how do you purchase postage??? It may sound silly but I feel so small. I was a nurse for 25+ yrs. an injury to my back 5 surgeries later with instruments, bone grafts and cages, I am unable to perform my duties as a heart/surgery floor nurse. I was an excellent nurse. I want to compensate for that loss income and I believe EBay to be that answer I’ve prayed for. You are a caring couple who share all the ins and outs of this business. You are very well appreciated for you kindness and thoughtfulness of others being winners!! Can you please help me on the postage and shipping I’m so afraid of failure. I completely understand. My next video I'm working on will be a new shipping video. Until then, let me try to answer. When you sell an item on ebay, you will get a notice on the section labeled TASKS on the seller hub. That notice will tell you that it's time to ship. When you click on that, it'll take you to the items that need to be shipped. Just double check your package to make sure you've entered the right measurements and weight. Most items can ship USPS ground advantage. You will buy your label right there. The money will come out of the money ebay collected from the buyer. Tracking will be automatic if the label is bought through ebay. Then, print your label and attach it to your package. It is ready for the post office at this point. Your carrier can pick it up or you can drop it off. When you make your listing, put that you have 2 or 3 day handling. That will give you time to get it all done. You can do this.
It's almost always price, isn't it? I had a house on the market some time ago and it wasn't selling. I talked to the realtor and told her we needed to drop the price. She was convinced that it wouldn't help. I tried to tell her, if I drop the price to a dollar, I can sell it before I get to the end of the driveway. Some where in there is a price it will sell at that I'm happy with.
@@TheChaChingKing My first broker told me if a house hasn't sold in 6 months it's the price. Doesn't matter what your seller thinks it's worth or what they spent to get it where it is, if it hasn't sold then lower the price. Still my rule of thumb 13 years later. Great videos 👍🏼

Another seller recently listed a list of reasons to relist eBay listings. The one that caught my eye is changing the algorithms. I assume that if I just change price, it will not improve algorithm. Agree?
I have experimented with ending and relisting before. For me, it made no difference at all unless I did something to improve the listing. Either better pictures, price or title. Something needed to improve for it to matter at all. And, for the most part, my stuff ended up sitting because they just weren't very desirable items. So, it really will vary from person to person. What works for me may not work for someone else....and vise-versa.
Thanks for sharing your wealth of information. Working on a death pile of plus-size and big men's clothing and I love using the extendable hangers you recommended from Amazon for the shirts and tops. However, I desperately need a source for the pants hangers for the larger sizes (2X and up) and can't seem to find them. Any suggestions? They don't flat lay well for photos, and hanging them leaves the pants/skirts/jeans looking cheap and distorted. Thanks in advance!

I don't keep OLD inventory anymore. Because of tax purposes. Reporting carryover inventory. So I donate at the end of the year or for clothing, consign it to a place like theRealReal. I want 0 inventory at the end of the year.

It absolutely can help. We've probably run a sale on these a dozen times. Even 60% off. Sometimes, it's just not the right item. Get this, I had a vintage keypad listed for years. Ran sales. Just nothing. I gave it to my kid, and he listed it on his eBay. SOLD...3 days. 😆

eBay will relist them every 30 days indefinitely. I don't do anything other that let them sit. They do count towards my number of items that can be listed every month, but we have fewer items listed that our store fee allows, so it never makes a difference.
I don't use an iPhone or iPad. On an Android phone, you have to download the app. The app doesn't have all of the options as the desktop version has. I don't know if that is the same on an Apple product or not.

For Melody and I, when sales are slow, we just go back to the basics. Make sure the store is active. Get stuff listed. Run a sale. Send out offers. Improve our listings.
I sent the wrong set of dominos to a buyer. Oops. The ones I sent were more rare and valuable but a standard size. He wanted jumbo and that’s what he wanted..,, removed.... he gave me a neutral feedback and now eBay stickies it to the top of my list. Ugh.
what advice do you have on selling items with names engraved? I have a lot of gold jewelry I was given when I was born with my name engraved on it and some other things like a metal cross with my name engraved etc. I have no use for it, so how should I try to sell it and price it and find comps?
Engraved items still sell. I don't even worry about it. I just make sure to point it out. It can impact the price a little, but not always as much as you might expect. If the items are real gold, make sure you show the weight of the item in grams, too. :-)

I noticed when you are going thru your ice things did you have all of them with offers? I get the taking offers on higher dollar items (that has worked well so I don't get returns). But it seems like on mid to lower prices items, I am getting lots and lots or lower offers. Is that because I still priced too high or people buying lower priced items always want a little more off or because I have offers, people think I want lower offers? Maybe another way to ask it: is there a price point you don't take offers for? I am thinking with the sale strategy that maybe not taking offers on $15-20 items? That might seem high to some, but I have to figure it my gas to drive to the post office. I also don't know anyone to ask, as my family hated the very idea of selling things and left me tons of junk to sell in their estate. I don't want to do that for my kids, so I need to learn to sell things.
This is a great question. I've addressed in other videos, but it would take me forever to find which ones. I accept offers on virtually every single item. But, not always because I am interested in taking a lower price. Accepting offers allows me to weed out people I don't want to do business with. Let me give you an example. Let's say I have a belt listed for $14.99 plus shipping. I don't really want to sell anything for much less than that. BUT, when I do get an offer, it gives me a chance to go and look at the feedback that buyer leaves other sellers. You'd be amazed at the number of times I see a low-ball offer and that person also leaves horrible feedback all the time. If I buyer uses feedback like a weapon, I don't really want to find that out AFTER I've shipped them something. Conversely, I might get an offer on something that was already inexpensive but sales have been slow. I go check the feedback they leave and it's just perfect. I'll happily accept a much cheaper price from someone who appears to be genuinely easy to work with. So, I do accept offers. It isn't all about price, though. Does that make sense?
@@TheChaChingKing 95% of my offers come from people who only buy on eBay, so ALL the feed back is "great buyer" for 200+ they never sell anything..(It did help for 1 offer...they had left horrible feedback after buying 1 thing out of 200+). What would you do about the continual low offers from "professional" buyers? That makes me think I am pricing too low...or is it a matter of they are just trying to get a better deal?
Can I ask you a question? Do you offer returns or no returns? Just curious cause sometimes I feel like why should I offer returns but I do , but sometimes buyers want to return a item writing damage and I have to pay the shipping cost which I lose money off of that sale , so I tell them to keep it cause it would cost me more to pay for the shipping label . I been selling for a year and half and I am still learning from sellers who been in the game for many years. Thank you.
I accept returns. Let me explain why. Since eBay will allow a return if a buyer claims an Item Not As Described whether you accept returns or not, it doesn't do much good to say NO Returns. Because, if it isn't an honest buyer, they know they can get a return anyway. They just have to lie and they are willing to do just that. So, in my opinion, saying that you don't allow returns only scares off the honest people. That's why I accept returns.
Is it a good idea to ship with Facebook marketplace? I am kind of at a stand still with eBay. I am not so sure if it is the best for me. I have never shipped anything, but planning on reselling smartphones.
I have shipped on Facebook Marketplace without any issues at all. That said, smartphones are one of the items that attracts a lot of scammers. I honestly don't have enough experience with FBMP to know how much support they have for sellers. I can't lie, I'm always leary of selling smartphones.
With my store subscription, I'm not paying a monthly insertion fee. BUT, there's still a cost associated with hanging on to things. Storage space not the least of them. It's a great point to consider if you list things with a low sell through rate.

I urge you , as a reseller since 2000; do NOT use Goodwill and other corporate "thrift stores" as your Main source ! Find a GOOD Flea market !! They all "skim" great vintage stuff right off the top.

Hey Scot: Another great video, we all have death piles, the longer I have something the harder it is to justify spending the time to get it listed. My focus is getting the items I just purchased listed. Most of my listings have not been listed for more than a year, I will often end listings and repost as "sell similar", I will start with the oldest listings first. I will do approx. 10% of my store every 2-3 weeks. It works amazingly well, right after the repost I will normally sell a few items that I reposted, this is also a good time to adjust the price and change up the pictures a little. Been working on my death pile every week trying to get everything either listed or donated, I work in a small space and need all the space for new things coming in.
Getting stuff listed really is the key. My sell-through rate for unlisted items is ZERO percent. LOL

I work with a local family that is working hard, but struggling a bit. So, I give them any leftover inventory. I have been in their shoes and I know they appreciate it. I can move out stuff that needs to go and they can turn it into a little bit of profit. We both win.
I like your transparency about the reality of 'get rich quick' videos. I won't watch those because they're misleading. I'm brand new and I appreciate your honesty and I've learned a lot from you already. As we inch our way into our retirement years, I feel more confident that this is the right path for us.
This has been a tremendous retirement income for us.
I find my sales are slow in March so this is the time I do the spring cleaning. One added challenge for Canadian sellers is the shipping cost. Our items have to be worth it for people to want to buy from us. Most people mentally include that shipping cost when looking at an item and to them, it has to be worth the over all cost, no matter what you think the item is worth. So if I have something listed for $25 and the shipping is going to be $25, the person sees that as a $50 item and decides if it is worth it to them to by it. Sometimes our items are nifty but not worth it with that shipping. A solution from time to time is to make lots so people get more bang for their shipping buck. When sourcing, ask yourself, is the buyer going to want to pay all that shipping and what is a realistic price to set this at so it will sell, etc. It has helped me a lot when sourcing.
Side Note: An option to get the sourcing bugs out, is to put things in your cart and then do a review and only buy the top sellers out of that cart. You can then put the other items back but feel like you have had a good shop. ☺

I really need to do some work on my own shipping policies with regards to Canadians. They just get the worst deal imaginable. I need to figure out the least costly method and implement that into my own store.
@@TheChaChingKingThe biggest issues that come with buying from the US is the border fees. I think eBay takes care of that. 🤔 I doubt the shipping alone, ends up more expensive than if purchased in Canada. Don't be too hard on yourself. ☺ I can send a parcel to California for less money than sending the same parcel to Alberta. 😋
Great video. Thanks for sharing. This month I am spring cleaning! For any items that have been sitting for 2 years, I have dropped my price drastically and listed on FB market place. A few items have sold on FBMP. At the end of the month, I am donated those left overs to my church’s yard sale. I have limited space. Out with the old for me! This will be my model going forward, adjusting where needed. 🎉🎉
That is almost exactly what we are doing. I think we'll sell more by getting rid of dead weight.

There's a few of the things you can change that way. You can change the SKU that way and others. Kind of hover over them to see which ones. :-)
Instead of dropping prices from the back end might it not be better to end and sell similar so that the item gets the added visibility of a new listing. Or even running a sale so the customer can see the markdown giving an incentive to buy. I have been toying with ideas about how to move stale inventory and so appreciate your ideas. Thanks for making this video.
We have done that, too. We've tried sales on those items, raising the prices, ending and selling similar. For us, if I have an item that isn't selling for me and isn't an exciting enough of an item to rework the listing, I'd rather spend my time working on the next item. That said, ALL of those are things someone could try to see what fits them and their store. 100%
Definitely “oddly encouraging.” I’m not the only one! I’ve been pulling things that haven’t sold and either revamping the listing, changing the price, or donating it. It’s a long process, but I do a few a day between working on the profit pile and shipping. I think just doing that has tweaked the algorithm enough to get me more sales. Also, I’ve learned this trick: whenever I get a Make Offer To Likers for an item I’ve had a while, before I send an offer, I check comps on it to see whether my pricing is competitive, and then I revise the listing to make sure the shipping is up-to-date with USPS changes, such as Ground Advantage instead of Priority Mail. That has been a really good call. And this morning, an item came up for offer that I wasn’t sure I still had. So before I’d send an offer, I searched for it and found it. Then I made the offer.
Checking comps before sending offers is a great idea. Prices can change drastically over a short period of time.

There are things you can do to speed it up. But, the vast majority of those things involve moving the items for less money.
Lots of purchasing mistakes, lots of shipping mistakes . . . getting better -- always learning! Life is always school!

You have to save the start date on your custom table setup as the default doesn't show the start date of the listing.

Thanks for the info! I recently sold some dishes i had listed for 3 years. I can't recall they had any interest at all but it took just that one buyer. For a while I was selling similar with old stuff. I hate that I've lost all that initial listing information on those items.
I don't end and relist very often. I tried it methodically for several months. I just didn't see enough difference to nudity my time. But I suppose it depends on the items and the store.

8:20 Thank you for THE TRUTH . So many of these damn RUclips Resellers make it look like they run to Goodwill ; spend a few bucks and then it turns into THOUSANDS overnight ! NOT THE CASE !! The reason that 1960s Neiman Marcus coat did not sell-- is because of the SIZE. Vintage clothes were a bit more "snug" back then . Had this been an XL - it would be gone now. (It's REALLY hard to find vintage clothing in XL !) . I still make mistakes after 23 years !!!! BUT, I know a lot more now . 6:55. YES! I have a LOT of this type of stuff !! Me and you seem to have the same "eye" for stuff as I can see,
You are so right about the vintage sizing. I bought vintage clothes as a fairly skinny teenager and I still could not fit into half of the vintage clothes. Now when I find a larger Vintage size...I know I can price up! My grandmother was one of the few "stout" women from the 50's and she made most of her own clothes plus basic stuff from Sears.

I finally sold all of my James Patterson books that had listed for 2 years. I had them listed individually did I bundle them together last month and took some good pictures of the books. And I price the bundle under $20 plus shipping for 6 JP books. I want by JP books anymore.

It's always helpful to see the "other side" of reselling. That's why I started my RUclips channel, to be honest. Its fun to watch the hauls and the top 10 sales of last week, but what is actually selling for the average reseller on a daily basis? And how many items do we have that we bought in good faith and then ended up sitting for months and years? If we're honest...lolol...LOTS!

You’re awesome for putting this video out. Personally I don’t want to hear all the fluff. It annoys me. I want to hear the highs and lows. I want everyone who deserves it to do well, but when I watch video after video of people finding these epic items and selling them top dollar it also gets frustrating!! Not to mention finding the same things as me and selling them for 4 times the price I get😤
I'm probably as guilty as anyone of showing the good stuff. But I like to follow up a "what sold" with some reality, too. Since most of my viewers are new to the game, the last thing I want to do is discourage someone. It's not all sunshine and roses. Someone's it's mop pads and flags. 😆

Thank you for sharing this video. I suspected that some big sellers here do have buried items, and if it is clothes, they go out of style etc, on my, not sure if I will be able to deal with stagnations.
I just started about 5 weeks ago, and currently in a stage of doing nothing because of the 100 listing a month restriction for the new sellers, which I had no clue about when started, b/c no one really talks about it when teaching new comers.
Sold 30, still have 70, and sales are just dead, and nothing I can do about it, except creating drafts.
My personality thrives on quick energy exchange, I get depressed easily with stagnations. To hoard non moving items in my possession is pretty depressing.... so I am thinking that I would probably wrap up everything, and sell my 300 items sourced at the coming flea market season. Just not my thing.
Truly self-reflective, and kudos to you for recognizing it. You know, this isn't everybody's thing. And that's not a slight in any way. I taught elementary school and loved it. But, one of my best friends taught 1st grade. DEFINITELY not my thing. I played around with WhatNot, which lots of people have flocked to. Not my thing. Great post.
Thank you for these tips. I don't know if it's just me, but things have been unusually slow... I usually do the typical end/sell similar from time to time, and items which consistently got several views in the past are now getting very few, if any! Many of the items I have for sale are one of 5 or 6 for sale on all of eBay, and I usually have better pictures and better prices than my competition, so I don't understand why it's been so stagnated for the last couple of months...
I had a great February. But, I listed some amazing stuff. March has been a little slow. For us, it's because we just haven't listed enough stuff.

If you sell similar, it changes it to the date that you relisted it on. It doesn't retain the old date.
Scott & Melody, I have been watching every video you have put out on RUclips. They are so encouraging and assists a lot of other’s in their EBay endeavors. I wish I had started watching prior to thinking I should buy, buy, buy items and all the assessories required to ship, print, bag and box. Now, I’m scared of shipping things and afraid of failure. I have a ton of inventory but not even start listing them, except 2 items, saved. I’m am petrified of the shipping process. I guess you could say, “I got the buggy in front of the horse!!” I have watched the shipping videos several times and I was wondering about the printing of the label and how do you purchase postage??? It may sound silly but I feel so small. I was a nurse for 25+ yrs. an injury to my back 5 surgeries later with instruments, bone grafts and cages, I am unable to perform my duties as a heart/surgery floor nurse. I was an excellent nurse. I want to compensate for that loss income and I believe EBay to be that answer I’ve prayed for. You are a caring couple who share all the ins and outs of this business. You are very well appreciated for you kindness and thoughtfulness of others being winners!! Can you please help me on the postage and shipping I’m so afraid of failure. Until then, let me try to answer. When you sell an item on ebay, you will get a notice on the section labeled TASKS on the seller hub. That notice will tell you that it's time to ship. When you click on that, it'll take you to the items that need to be shipped. Just double check your package to make sure you've entered the right measurements and weight. Most items can ship USPS ground advantage. You will buy your label right there. The money will come out of the money ebay collected from the buyer. Tracking will be automatic if the label is bought through ebay. Then, print your label and attach it to your package. It is ready for the post office at this point. Your carrier can pick it up or you can drop it off. When you make your listing, put that you have 2 or 3 day handling. That will give you time to get it all done.

It's almost always price, isn't it? I had a house on the market some time ago and it wasn't selling. I talked to the realtor and told her we needed to drop the price. She was convinced that it wouldn't help. I tried to tell her, if I drop the price to a dollar, I can sell it before I get to the end of the driveway. Some where in there is a price it will sell at that I'm happy with.
Price Price Price... I'm a realtor if it hasn't sold in 3 years, there is only one thing that it could be.

@@TheChaChingKing My first broker told me if a house hasn't sold in 6 months it's the price. Doesn't matter what your seller thinks it's worth or what they spent to get it where it is, if it hasn't sold then lower the price. Still my rule of thumb 13 years later. Great videos 👍🏼

Another seller recently listed a list of reasons to relist eBay listings. The one that caught my eye is changing the algorithms. I assume that if I just change price, it will not improve algorithm. Agree?

I have experimented with ending and relisting before. For me, it made no difference at all unless I did something to improve the listing. Either better pictures, price or title. Something needed to improve for it to matter at all. And, for the most part, my stuff ended up sitting because they just weren't very desirable items. So, it really will vary from person to person. What works for me may not work for someone else....and vise-versa.
Thanks for sharing your wealth of information. Working on a death pile of plus-size and big men's clothing and I love using the extendable hangers you recommended from Amazon for the shirts and tops. However, I desperately need a source for the pants hangers for the larger sizes (2X and up) and can't seem to find them. Any suggestions? They don't flat lay well for photos, and hanging them leaves the pants/skirts/jeans looking cheap and distorted. Thanks in advance!

Oh man, I've had that happen, too. Every year, when I do my inventory, I find items that have fallen off.
I don't keep OLD inventory anymore. Because of tax purposes. Reporting carryover inventory. So I donate at the end of the year or for clothing, consign it to a place like theRealReal. I want 0 inventory at the end of the year.

It absolutely can help. We've probably run a sale on these a dozen times. Even 60% off. Sometimes, it's just not the right item. Get this, I had a vintage keypad listed for years. Ran sales. Just nothing. I gave it to my kid, and he listed it on his eBay. SOLD...3 days. 😆

Or does EBay keep all listed items forever until it’s sold. And does it cost you anything while you are waiting for 3 years from eBay to keep your listing up an online? Thanks for your guidance.
eBay will relist them every 30 days indefinitely. I don't do anything other that let them sit. They do count towards my number of items that can be listed every month, but we have fewer items listed that our store fee allows, so it never makes a difference.

I don't use an iPhone or iPad. On an Android phone, you have to download the app. The app doesn't have all of the options as the desktop version has. I don't know if that is the same on an Apple product or not.

For Melody and I, when sales are slow, we just go back to the basics. Make sure the store is active. Get stuff listed. Run a sale. Send out offers. Improve our listings.
I sent the wrong set of dominos to a buyer. Oops. The ones I sent were more rare and valuable but a standard size. He wanted jumbo and that’s what he wanted..,, removed.... he gave me a neutral feedback and now eBay stickies it to the top of my list. Ugh.

what advice do you have on selling items with names engraved? I have a lot of gold jewelry I was given when I was born with my name engraved on it and some other things like a metal cross with my name engraved etc. I have no use for it, so how should I try to sell it and price it and find comps?
Engraved items still sell. I don't even worry about it. I just make sure to point it out. It can impact the price a little, but not always as much as you might expect. If the items are real gold, make sure you show the weight of the item in grams, too. :-)

(I sell a variety of items but nothing over 5lbs, most are 2lbs & under, some are ground, a lot are media but I know the average cost of that) -- I used to sell on facebook marketplace and it told you that clicking free shipping deducts $4 from your profit, but what about ebay? I noticed when you are going thru your ice things did you have all of them with offers? I get the taking offers on higher dollar items (that has worked well so I don't get returns). But it seems like on mid to lower prices items, I am getting lots and lots or lower offers. Is that because I still priced too high or people buying lower priced items always want a little more off or because I have offers, people think I want lower offers? Maybe another way to ask it: is there a price point you don't take offers for? I am thinking with the sale strategy that maybe not taking offers on $15-20 items? That might seem high to some, but I have to figure it my gas to drive to the post office. I also don't know anyone to ask, as my family hated the very idea of selling things and left me tons of junk to sell in their estate. I don't want to do that for my kids, so I need to learn to sell things.

I accept offers on virtually every single item. But, not always because I am interested in taking a lower price. Accepting offers allows me to weed out people I don't want to do business with. Let me give you an example. Let's say I have a belt listed for $14.99 plus shipping. I don't really want to sell anything for much less than that.
BUT, when I do get an offer, it gives me a chance to go and look at the feedback that buyer leaves other sellers. You'd be amazed at the number of times I see a low-ball offer and that person also leaves horrible feedback all the time. If I buyer uses feedback like a weapon, I don't really want to find that out AFTER I've shipped them something.
Conversely, I might get an offer on something that was already inexpensive but sales have been slow. I go check the feedback they leave and it's just perfect. I'll happily accept a much cheaper price from someone who appears to be genuinely easy to work with.
So, I do accept offers. It isn't all about price, though. Does that make sense?
@@TheChaChingKing 95% of my offers come from people who only buy on eBay, so ALL the feed back is "great buyer" for 200+ they never sell anything..(It did help for 1 offer...they had left horrible feedback after buying 1 thing out of 200+). What would you do about the continual low offers from "professional" buyers? That makes me think I am pricing too low...or is it a matter of they are just trying to get a better deal?
Can I ask you a question? Do you offer returns or no returns? Just curious cause sometimes I feel like why should I offer returns but I do , but sometimes buyers want to return a item writing damage and I have to pay the shipping cost which I lose money off of that sale , so I tell them to keep it cause it would cost me more to pay for the shipping label . I been selling for a year and half and I am still learning from sellers who been in the game for many years. Thank you.
I accept returns. Let me explain why. Since eBay will allow a return if a buyer claims an Item Not As Described whether you accept returns or not, it doesn't do much good to say NO Returns. Because, if it isn't an honest buyer, they know they can get a return anyway. They just have to lie and they are willing to do just that. So, in my opinion, saying that you don't allow returns only scares off the honest people. That's why I accept returns.

Is it a good idea to ship with Facebook marketplace? I am kind of at a stand still with eBay. I am not so sure if it is the best for me. I have never shipped anything, but planning on reselling smartphones.
I have shipped on Facebook Marketplace without any issues at all. That said, smartphones are one of the items that attracts a lot of scammers. I honestly don't have enough experience with FBMP to know how much support they have for sellers. I can't lie, I'm always leary of selling smartphones.
Scott. On these items that you have had for years, don’t you loose money on these items because of the insertion fees charged every month?
With my store subscription, I'm not paying a monthly insertion fee. BUT, there's still a cost associated with hanging on to things. Storage space not the least of them. It's a great point to consider if you list things with a low sell through rate.
