Roundtable Knight Vyke is a really tough foe who employs dragon incantations in an attempt to dispatch you. Be very careful of his leaping attack, as the whirlwind AOE lasts for a considerable amount of time, and can stun you very easily, exposing you to devastating followup attacks.

Interesting note: Vyke appears to be the guy on the games cover art. Wish there was a bit more to him other than just a random mini boss.
Lorewise Vyke is mentioned as being the closest a tarnished has ever gotten to become Elden Lord before the player character shows up
Like the guy above me said , he was a tarnished soon too be Elden lord but that goal was interrupted by the flame of frenzy due to it being an abomination of a choice so therefore he forfeited his right to the erd tree. Wether he made this choice himself or was persuaded to do so nobody knows but there’s a reason why he’s on the cover art. He’s important but with these games it’s up to us to find out how or why. The lord is in the descriptions that are throughout the game you just have to really pay attention. I just defeated him as he defeated me lol we both died at the same exact time but I still got his armor. Basically the game telling me we’re two in the same tarnished but I will still go on to become the true Elden lord while he burns in hell from the frenzied flame lol
@@TastyyTanner I think it's said somewhere that Vyke took on the frenzied flame to save his maiden. He didn't want her to sacrifice her life to burn the Erdtree.

So fun fact, when he uses that red buff he actually takes MORE from lightning attacks as its the spells weakness

@@jmbat4435 vykes dragonbolt, while it increases weight capacity AND weapon damage, it also makes the user take more lightning damage, so a good fth build or a strong lightning weapon can make this battle trivial

The fact that he either pokes me still after death or he edge walks away after killing me grinds my gears.
Melted him with my maxed out blasphemous blade with 4-5 hits can’t remember but he lasted like maybe 10 seconds lol
I'm having so much trouble with this guy. I've been trying for like a full day now and I almost beat him but in phase 2 he has this charged spear attack that tracks me wherever I am and 1 shots me

He is pretty easy if you have a shield with barracide shield ash on it.

@@4shura__shura nah he's right. The boss' moveset is pretty simple and I keep getting greedy bc I expect him to heal, but I have 46 vigor and get 1 shotted by that one attack.
The only tip I have that allowed me to beat him was to constantly be on him. If you create distance he’ll do his special attacks that hit hard. It’s risky to be close to him but if you see him firing off a spell you can interrupt it by hitting him.

Coat your Bloodhounds Fang with Holy damage and you'll take him down quick with weapons special move. Quickly follow up with a jump strike before he heals himself. Keep him off balance/staggered and you'll get him
I destroyed him with the special attack from the bloodhound fang with the R2 follow up that I only recently discovered when I saw my mimic do it. His approach is slow enough that you can get this going as he walks towards you. Very easy fight with this approach.
The story behind this character is so interesting and yet so sad

Way I did it was with Bloodhounds Fang +9, throw on holy grease and spam Left Trigger like there's no tomorrow, it deals hella damage and if you time it right you'll hit him, he'll attack, the special will dodge it and you'll hit him again for massive damage.
Do you know that’s my favorite weapon bloodhound fang +9 that’s what mine is , Yo sword is awesome because it can stagger enemies ! I was having a little trouble so I switched to my +5 katana the one with corpse piler And I didn’t do shit lol

After several frustrating attempts, I took the advice of others here and went with spamming the lightning spear incantation. I can confirm it just melts him. He never even got a chance to use a heal flask. Fight was over in less than 20 seconds. Thanks to others for the suggestion.
Just beat him fairly easily with the Royal Greatsword. But I'd forgotten that I had replaced the Fingerprint armor set with a Spawn costume mod, so I was fighting Spawn with a spear instead. It was neat.
I’ve had him do the normal lighting thing 4 times in a row. He must really not like me 😭
Repeatedly doing the bloodhound fang’s L2 attack staggers him. also does the trick without taking much damage.
Immediately follow the L2 with R2 for a special follow up that I only recently discovered. Killer

if you have inescapable frenzy before you fight him since he's tarnished if you grab him with it deletes him its what i did.
Bleed is not a thing in this fight
I used a lighting attack with my weapon when he was casting his, and it vaporized him. I got lucky with it, but it killed him quickly when it hit. It was the Thunderbolt weapon skill to be specific. I have it on my +20 Morning Star.

Best approach is using the Moonveil's unsheathed technique since it stuns him

He’s so unnecessarily hard to beat
You killed his wife so yes is normal!
All I did was jump attack him and he will get staggered, his moves are quite slow and there's no big surprise. When he rolls, just do what other bosses do to you, keep on him and punish it. Especially punish his lightning incantation spell, he stands still for 2 seconds. He does a lot of damage but he also has a lot of punishable mistakes, such as rolling straight into a incantation when you're still next to him.
I kept running and finally tried the treespear and poked the shit outta him like he did me it done better than +8 bloodhound fang sword so i used treespear, jellyfish shield and lightning bolt throw spell

Holy crap I 1 hit him with Inescapable Friendly. Did not expect that so I quickly closed game to redo the fight but it had already auto saved. Needed to see what he actually gave me

Blasphemous sword bullies him into oblivion. I never saw one of his attacks. I kind of feel cheated.
According to online he’s weaker to lightning, magic, and holy compared to all physical attacks or fire and he’s immune to all status effects

The main problem for most of you may be trying to dodge it literally just use a shield the one time I use the shield was the time I beat him and that was after watching this video
I am making a build very similar to vyke, first without knowing about him, but its a bit of a shame his spear to locked to madness and cannot change it to lightning
if you use the winged scythe he cant use his flasks to heal + holy damage + bleed
Can anyone explain to me why and how Vyke buffs his spear with Vyke's Dragonbolt buff but you cant do it? When you kill him, you get al of his equipment and when you have the spear equipped, you cannot cast Vyke's Dragonbolt because his spear cant be buffed because it has Madness in it. But when you fight him, he casts Vyke's Dragonbolt. Am I missing something?

Yea....I just spammed him with the azure comet (sword of night and flame) attack and it took like 2 tries🤷
I beat it in one try but it was def an annoying battle cause every time he did his lightning attacks you would back up and then he would heal before you could rush in and finish him off (I swear he healed more than once), and he did give me a few close calls but for the most part he’s still an easy to medium battle
Personally I had alot of luck with Banished Knight's Halbert. Just poking the shit out of him interrupts everything and keeps him in range.

Just beat him like this after about 20 tries with SoNaF with parry’s. He’s pretty easy to parry but I kept getting greedy/unlucky with that whirlwind jump
I'm fighting him now and he continuously after I get him halfway down, drinks health power-ups over and over.

Get inescapable frenzy, beat mogh the omen (the one in sewara), hit the thing at back, jump down and get the grab and one shot him lol

@@mclaineappleby9018 think they patched the vyke one, I’ve see someone wreck Gideon when he was doing is great ol speech. I had to lighting spear spam him to death.
@@loreto1851 they did paysh it in 1.3.2, it's now mainly 50 50 if you doing 1200 damage a tick or 1

the whirlwind one shot is bullshit just like most of this game late game. getting one spotted while having 60 70 vitality shouldn't be a thing.

Hmm I actually needed only 3 or 4 Ancient Death Rancors and he was dead, he couldn't even use 1 attack
It was no problem till he does the spear slam, pulled out a bigger weapon and just kept going for the stun lock, not too bad if u just play dodgy

i was having so much trouble with him dodging until i just decided to go for broke and ran up to him as fast as possible right before he spawns and then spam night bean with my sword of night and flame and killed him in 3 shots back to back lol
Just spam TAKER'S FLAMES from Blasphemous Blade, then attack after Vyke fell down. Easy win!
I hate how he can buff his war spear with the dragonbolt but when you unlock his war spear it can't be buffed with dragonbolt
I was getting so close with Golden Halbred +9. It was fucking him up! Anyways, I had to swap to Grafted great sword +9 and hope that I could stagger him repeatedly. Sometimes it does, sometimes RNG gives you the finger.

I did it by spamming Bolt of Gransax

I feel kinda ripped off to be honest. The clean rot armor is better in just about every way. And you can get it way earlier. Only downside is it's heavier.

Armor doesn't mean shit in souls, unless you slap on the heaviest stuff in the game, in which case you will take a slightly noticably lower amount of damage. Poise can sometimes help, though.

Is this guy (Vyke) immune to poison and rot damage? I was testing a status buildup build and didn’t get any dot damage so i gave up those weapons and turned back to my beatiful dual wield daggers.

Does he drop the item for Hyetta’s quest if for whatever reason he fails to invade you earlier in game?
Hmmm, I'm not sure. He invaded me so I can't say for certain, I'm afraid. After you defeat him as a boss, try going back to that church that he invades in and see if the grape is there.
I just tested it, he does not. i never even went to frenzied village before fighting his boss form. His boss form did not drop it and he no longer invades you in the village. I also had a few attempts at beating him before i went to the village to see if he would invade, but he didnt. TLDR: if you go into the Gaol before you beat his invade, youre screwed on the quest

There’s a comment here talking about jump attacks to stagger. that I can confirm is the best route to take if you’re taking him head on.
He literally can't heal more than once lol. He literally has a single Crimson Tear flask. He uses it once and then when he tries again, it's empty
