    M54, such an incredible engine. Had so many of them and currently got an E46 with one. They are just great. Good power and very reliable. Of course, a manual X5 is cool too.

      Why?

    • @Mister-Brain-Wash
      @Mister-Brain-Wash 5 месяцев назад

      @@NotTheChad-Потому что двигатель БМВ теплонагруженный, и у БМВ есть свой допуск качества антифриза и температура кипения, желательно использовать антифриз зелёного цвета, там не только цвет влияет на степень присадок, но и состав которая лучше охлаждает двигатель, не оставляет примесей, осадков и налёта на алюминиевых трубках, а также предотвращает появление коррозии на металлических стенках двигателя и системы охлаждения.

    collant leaks are usualy everywhere on m54, spessially under intake , there are two plastic collant lines under intake and they have rost plastic , the people rarelly replace those plastic pipe becouse you have to take of a lot of parts includind intake, my suggestion is to replase all collant lines, and collant tank,, pcv system, and check the air lines with smoke mashine)

      Радиатор на моей машине Е34 М50 стоит уже больше 12 лет, и за это время не было ни одной утечки из радиатора или расширительного бачка, течь был только из-за старой патрубки радиатора идущей к водяной помпе, не считая этого система охлаждения работает исправно, даже не менял крышку расширительного бачка.

    Love the E53 but hate the rear wheel tuck/camber that they all have. Almost wish you'd bought an auto and were manual swapping it. Would love to see that two tone interior completed!

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  2 года назад +1

      It's actually the same transmission as the e46 awd models, but some of the shift linkage parts are a pain to find, or cost a bunch of money. Also it's heavy 😭 no fun to be installing a transmission from the ground. What about a lift kit? Would that solve the camber problem

    • @jhncvngh
      @jhncvngh 2 года назад

      @@TheBimmerBarn Hmm, not sure about a lift kit, I was actually thinking it might look better a little lower... I think it's mostly the way the wheel arches flare out over the stock wheels that makes them look like they're sunken into the wells when you're driving behind one, looks like someone who might not make it to the bathroom if you know what I mean lol. Of course your E70 wheels that are a bit more pokey definitely help!

    • @crystalworks1
      @crystalworks1 2 года назад +1

      @@TheBimmerBarn Refresh the rear suspension. That will solve the rear camber problem. They all have negative rear camber to a small degree, but when you see them out terribly (visibly), it's because the previous owner's did zero rear suspension maintenance. Nice find. Love E53's, and would love to own a manual version one day. For now, have to make due with my imola 4.8is that I'm not sure I could ever sell.

    • @aidenp5768
      @aidenp5768 2 года назад

      The secret to fixing the problem (to the eye) is to get spacers or thicker wheels. I have e53, had 17s on it, style 130s looks boring, but I put spacers at the back to make it look flush, and it looks really good with the camber because its not noticeable, it looks way better. Now I got bigger rims with no spacers style 87s 315s at the back and it looks even better and the negative camber doesn't show as much, even though its still there. If you get 315s with fender flares then the negative camber to the eye shows up again and looks weird so I recommend getting bigger wheels for summer with no fender flares which it fits flush anyway, and smaller wheels with spacers for winter months.

    • @THE46GUY
      @THE46GUY 2 года назад +2

      there are camber correction kits available for all e53 models. some are priced well and others are very expensive. I have an e53 4.8is and lowered it on the factory 2 axle air suspension and the rear camber was out of control with the toe settings eating up continental tires up in about 10k miles. refreshed the complete front and rear suspension with an FCP 20 piece lemforder kit and then used silverproject rear camber/toe kit arms and was able to adjust the toe to 0.00 and rear camber to -2.0 while being lowered almost 2 inches. looks much better and saves the tires.

    Nice buy, I have a black X5 2005 model, 3.0 turbo diesel it is one that was fully optioned, sat nav, DVD player, the only factory digital tv in this model I’ve ever seen, , moon roof , 10 stack CD player, does yours have the Cassette player behind the sat nav screen? Or Is yours just a normal radio / tape I forget mine has the sat nag / entertainment screen and you press what looks like the eject button and the whole face of the unit folds up electrically (so over engineered lol ) to reveal a tape deck player. It’s also got the huge wheels/ tyres on it - 265-20 -30? Monster boots, I’ve had it for 8 years and love it still, my suspension was all shot like yours but at least parts on eBay were really cheap, I’ve actually got a video I made of it on my channel couple of mins long a sort of test with my drone haha, anyway looking forward to watching your build have fun Dx

    I have one and I love it, because of the short gearing and being based on the E39 5 series the car feels like a real old school BMW very lively in first and second gear like the E28 and E12 it is a car that has snuck under the radar. It is very quick to 40kph getting there in 2 seconds which .4 of a second faster than a e39 530 Man and .2 of a second faster than a e46330 and amazingly the same as a US e36 M3 5 speed and only .1 of a second slower than a European e36 M3 all these cars are faster when we get over 60kph but in the real world this is the fastest accelerating BMW 6 cylinder manual that is not a later turbo or M car in the real world of street driving. I had a manual e28 528i and it was faster in traffic light drags than Porsches, V8s even Ferraris of the mark up to 80kph because of that little hi revving engine and the short gearing and the Manual X5 is just like that to drive. All the times quoted here come from the "Auto catalogue" site, the times I quoted for the X5 are fro a European car like my 2001 Australian car I have owned for 15 years.

    Awesome score. Even tho I only had my e53 for about a month and a half before I traded it in on my f15 I miss it. If the trans hadn't taken a shit on me right after I drove it back to VA fro. Pa I would have kept it but the boss suggested I just trade it for something newer. And that how I wound up with an f15 50i. I have the plugs and stuff to delete the roof rack if you are interested

    Very nice find Chris. I Googled the towing capacity of a e53 with the 3 liter and it looks like it's 5000 lbs? That's pretty good and also surprising given the weight of the X5. Looking forward to more videos with this one. E53 design really holds up well.

    • @aidenp5768
      @aidenp5768 2 года назад

      Ive heard of owners pulling way more than that, with different towing setups ive heard 11,000lbs, I know it sounds crazy but some dude back in the early 2000s had a luxury camping home behind him, it was like a bus. There was no sagging either, due to the rear air suspension but im pretty sure the brakes would go out way sooner than suppose to.

    • @THE46GUY
      @THE46GUY 2 года назад

      the tow capacity is more for the chassis not engine size. transmission, brakes and chassis dictate the towing capacity. for that, all e53 have a towing capacity of 6500 lbs with i believe 600-750ln tongue weight. i have a 4.8is e53 and tow a 22ft boat and single car steel trailer with an e46 with no issues.
      the e53 does have a more square footprint since its an SAV compared to trucks that have a larger length footprint and are better equipped to handle towing a little better in regards to handling.

      No, it will only fit other 6 cylinders. You could get the manual transmission for the v8 X5 from an e39, but I'm not sure if it will easily convert your car to manual, still need crossmember, you'd lose AWD, etc. Great question!
