    Dr Art, Ben from Australia here and I have been Enjoying the videos mate.
    Well done
    With Tony’s Jeep XJ 2wd Cherokee ask him if he would do an economy tune for it.
    A tune for money back into our pocket without spending money on throttle body spacers and later model components.
    The XJ did not come to Australia as a two wheel drive but I’m wanting to build one for a daily driver and no off-road work at all.
    Please try and help out with economy 😁

    Dr. Art . During you recent foray into the mystical world of ecu's , have you explored the possibility of rebuilding Chips ? Specifically , I have a 1997 Ford F-250 with the 7.3 liter Diesel engine . I have the Banks intercooler , Banks turbo mod , 3 inch exhaust all the way from stem to stern ....and the Banks chip . I was unaware that the chips have a limited lifespan . Generally , that span is around 10 years . Mine went south near that period . Since I have to chip and the the chip has it's number printed on it b, I called Banks . Banks said " Of course we can send you a replacement chip , if you'll send us your chip and 600 bucks . I think 600 bucks is a touch high , considering that I already spent 7K with them on the system . So , do you do chips yet ? or is that something you're not interested in ? Thanks

      Never did any of the chip burning
      But let me look at what that would take
      Maybe someone is selling the old school chip burner on eBay

    I wish something like this was available for the 2007 Kia Grand Carnival / Sedona 3.8 V6, the fuel consumption on them is disgusting.

    I have the same vehicle but 1999 Durango 5.2 with Hughes intake manifold, big gulp tb,headers, 3” y pipe and exhaust k&n coi 4.56 gears, could use some timing advance had the death flash done. what do I need to do as far as what 2 buy for a tuner and custom tuning. Tia

      Their interface dongle is @399.00

      Then I can send you a tune once you download the base tune from your ECM for 100.00
      Or you can send me the ecu and I can program for 250.00 including return postage

    Dr. Art....I have a 1999 Ram 1500 2wd truck. It is custom sst look alike complete rebuild. I have a local tuner here that uses HP tuners. He tunes mainly LS truck I build. (I have a small mechanic shop I run on the side). He has had trouble getting HP tuners to connect/read the tune file. The computer is stock. The motor has a been freshened up. Mostly stock except the FI Air Gap intake, 1.7 ratio HS rockers, and a cols air intake. This truck is a hanger queen, but would like to get more performance out of it. Can you provide some tips? Is it something you can do?

      When these Jay tech computers get a little bit older sometimes it’s common for them not to read through the OBD two port a lot of times I’ll have to bring along a bench harness if I’m gonna do an older truck like this because that’s the only way to get the computer to connect is directly
      It’s usually a sign. The computer is getting a little weak or there’s some grounding issue with the wiring in the vehicle. If it’s still communicating, it should be able to be tuned on a bench harness. You could always send it to me and see if a direct bench harness, Tune would be able to program the vehicle . If not, it would just be time for a refresh on the computer or a replacement.

    So I have a 96 5.2 5 speed Dakota, with the odb2 JTEC, I added a slightly bigger cam, I'm assuming its possible to have the motor work better with the cam?

    What would you charge to make sort of the same style tune as utg jeep on a 97 buick century

      It would be 225
      That’s total to unlock the computer in HP tuners the labor, and the programming and the return shipping

    I have the mpvi3 and tried to do a read on my 98 5.2 Ram, when I try to read the file it says interface not supported. I have no problems tuning on my ls swapped drift car but for some reason I am unable to crack the dodge. Any ideas?

      Yes happens a lot actually
      Resync your dongle while hooked up to your laptop in HP
      THEN restart your lap top
      Most of the time this helps. If not your ECM is getting ready to leave the party

      Different levels of manifold vacuum
      Cruise
      Decell etc……

    Hey i have a question for you. I made a bench harness and im trying to read my jtec ecms and it keeps saying baud rate timed out. Any ideas whats going on? Ive tried 4 different ecms and im getting the same error im losing my mind lol

      Yes
      You can try to resync your HP Dongle and also check your HP Software for updates so you are on the latest version
      And also make sure your laptop has a SOLID internet connection
      This in not uncommon with the JTEC they can be kind of funny sometimes

    So did they just send you the ECU? I have a 2003 5.9 4x2 Durango, with the 4 plug ECU

      That requires a different bench harness that I do not have
      But yes it is possible

    Dr. Art, when installing even (what seems like) a mild tune like this, does the customer need to run performance plugs, coils etc? Just curious thank you.

      @@randallalley6925 if you have no other mods to the truck, you can expect a great increase in full throttle acceleration, full load, like towing ability and increased throttle response

      One of two ways if you have access to HP tuners I can send you the file on a thumb drive. It’s 10 bucks when you send me a self address stamped envelope or you can send me your computer and the prices $225 and that gets it unlocked in HP

      and return postage

      The ECM is a ng 3 and I do not have a bench harness for that one

    Hi Dr Art. Really enjoying your videos on HP Tuners. I have an off-road only TJ Wrangler that I have upgraded with a GT35 Turbo (10 lb boost) and 30 lb injectors, stock engine. I have used HP Tuners to dial in the injectors and it goes pretty well. I haven't done much with the timing so far. The question I have is whether I can copy your timing mods with the turbo or should I not take it that far under boost. I don't want to have excessive knock or pre-ignition. I heard somewhere that you should retard ignition in the high boost area by 1 degree per pound of boost. At 92 and 105 MAP should I hold it back to say 24 or 26 degrees and smooth the curve from there?

      Sounds like a fun ride, but no, you should not copy my timing buds when you’re boosted you will blow the head right off the thing you’re right for one to 2° retardation for each pound of boost and you’re correct with that type of computer. That’s a bar map sensor that the last two segments are where you’re going to see boost with that sensor and that I would probably limit your boost to about 10 pounds of boost and total of 20° of timing
      some safety zone. It’s always better to be a little safe. Sounds like you’re on the right path, but yeah, definitely do not copy my timing curves under boost.

      @@DrArtshotrodrehab Thanks for the reply. I'm in New Zealand and am using a Honda 1.7 bar MAP sensor to maximise the very small MAP table and have modified the MAP multiplier accordingly. I'll stick to a max of 20 deg as suggested. Cool to have someone talking about JTEC. I also have a standard road going TJ and will try the advanced timing tune on that one!
