Hi JC, is it coincidence or future business planning that the Thuraya Satelite, providing many people in Australia and Asia with Sat phone coverage just suffered a Force Majeure event and the local company "Pivotel" has advised all their sat ph accounts that their phones will no longer work! Preparation for the DTC network??? Or am I just too cynical?😅

Elon has said that the vacuum of the shuttle program and the lack of Mars missions was the reason he started SpaceX. So, I think the failure of our government to provide NASA with what they needed was the catalyst.

    • @jcristina

      Can argue that Mathew!!

Yeah funny how life works out. We all mourned the shuttle program but its ending lead to SpaceX. I was told the Shuttles had a lot of flights left in them before the close of the program, based on their design life. But I think they under-estimated how dangerous the foam strike issues were. However, I’m not an expert!

I was working in Orlando standing outside watching the shuttle launch with Christen McCullough on board .the pounding on my chest from the rocket engines was immense,,then the shuttle blew up.i felt bad for all the kids watching on classroom tvs.years later I was an otr driver and I was eastbound on I-10 near Texas Louisiana state line and seen the other shuttle. Break apart and witnessed another tragedy sad.

I date back to *personal* involvement with the U.S. Space Program when I was the official U.S. Navy photographer aboard two Apollo *secondary* recovery ships. Unfortunately... we never saw the capsule during my two missions as the darn thing always landed VERY close to the primary recovery ship... an aircraft carrier.
Several decades later, I joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and did underway safety patrols on the Banana River during many of the Space Shuttle launches, including the final shuttle launch.
I was so happy to see Elon and SpaceX follow up and highly succeed in the U.S. Space Race.
AND I finally "got off the pot" and bought a Starlink system. It's my total COMMUNICATIONS BACKUP over here in the Ft. Myers area after being TOTALLY let down after Hurricane Ian by BOTH Comcast AND Verizon.
I was also let down by my local electric company, but I at least have an emergency generator. NOW, I have emergency communications!

Great interview!! I wanna watch the movie. The Sicilian pizza in the tube is comic. Fabiola has no issues tasting those space foods. Attagirl!! Joe!! A dog on the pizza tube…? I was a pig on the tube for the moment you guys showed it. lol

I was six years old when we first went to the moon and I still remember watching it on the TV. I would love to relive that experience as an adult and hopefully have my grandkids with me. I remember having a poster on my wall with all of the Apollo missions listed in chronological order with pictures of all the Astronauts 😀. This brought back great memories of my dad and I!! Thank You 🙏
