Manipur has produced 19 olympians who have competed across 5 disciplines: hockey, boxing, weightlifting, judo and archery. The Manipur's athletes have participated in the olympics since the 1984 with notable achievements including bronze medal won by Mary Kom in 2016 and silver medal won by Saikhom Mirabai Chanu in 2020. In the latest comcluded Paris olympics 2024, Nilakanta Singh was part of the bronze medal winning team in hockey and the list goes on. There were 9 U-17 FIFA world cup players from Manipur with the captain Amarjit Singh also from Manipur leading the team. In senior women's national football, team Manipur is currently the 22 times national defending champion and still going strong which is a great feat in itself.
