- ABC News' Linsey Davis speaks with Rebecca Hall, director of the movie "Passing," a story of two young Black women choosing different paths in coming to terms with their identity.
Rebecca Hall is a great talent and a extremely beautiful woman.
The tension between the two women is beauuuuutifully filmed.
Her mom is a brilliant opera singer.
This movie was incredible. Oscar!!
Wonderful 👏 I had the feeling the director wanted to say as loud as possible "I am black and I am proud "
She is. You can feel it.
@Nicole Eboni she's black and more black than most. Her great great grandfather worked with Frederick Douglass and did some amazing things at Howard University
I cannot imagine the generational trauma she has endured. Secret and lies eat at everyone
Of course she’s black and proud! That’s why she married white…
Mariah Carey is the perfect example of white passing. She could have played in this film. Halsey too.
Yupp!
Lindsey, Mariah Carey is certainly not passing for being nuts. She is nuts.
@@kennethrussell1158 hahahah black come onnn
@@kennethrussell1158 She is talented.
Annalynne McCord too!
Can't wait to see it.
Very interesting
Great movie!
So why didn't they choose people who could pass.
With the two leading ladies she wanted two people who "undeniable Black" to the audience. The audience knows as it is not a secret to the characters or audience/reader . When you have a "secret" you think everyone knows. also the reverse. Hall thought she was white end of. But others came up to her and said she had an "exotic" look . So in that case she though she was white while other "knew" or suspected she wasn't .
Limitless excitement? Endless possibility? The news reporter must have never read anything about the 1920’s or the Harlem Renaissance. The casting is terrible. The director should have acted in the film. I don’t believe either actress looks White enough to pass.
Yes, i agree i didn't think they were light enough to pass eithrt. You could clearly they both were at the very least biracial women.
Regardless of the passing of white...IF U DIDN'T WATCH THE MOVIE...Then shut your mouths..it means that YOU DIDN'T GET IT. SMH..TERRIBLE

@@ostinawiggins5510 Who chooses a movie to watch based on the particular shade of skin of the director?
not the point
A "passing" director?
Lol
They could have just put "Mediocre"
Seriously? And that is what is wrong with America... watch the movie... and hopefully you'll get it...smh... you must be a white man..smh
A stupid comment ?
Lol definitely.
Mediocre defines you.
@@ostinawiggins5510 I'll have plenty of time to watch shitty movies when I'm burning in hell, I'll just save it for then
@@chrisbammer8679 the audacity of caucasity
So if her work is so "mediocre" and you have better things to do with your time, why the bloody hell are you bothering to watch this interview and waste more time making a comment that makes you appear to be a complete and utter arse?
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
HATER KAREN or Italian of African Moorish descent? Maybe Rebecca Hall's black ancestry is just a little too close to home for you huh?😂

This storyline was stolen from the late great Steven Corbin and his "No Easy Place To Be" novel... The lady in the movie who is "passing" looks like an African American woman.
The Story is based on a book written in 1920 by a BLACK WOMAN Nella Larsen. Corbin STOLE her books premace🙄 you're a HATER, jealousy is a mental neurosis
I see a lot of interviews but no one is REALLY talking the racism within the movie. Especially for the women, Clair and Rene, they not even fully black and from what I gather neither is the person who wrote the movie. Just giving vibes that they’re all racist.🤷🏽♀️ I said what I said.
what point you tryna make? lol I'm confused.
@@Kayodomsyou being confused sounds like a YOU problem.🤷🏽♀️ Good day.
@@mirmir4003 so you didn’t see the movie
