Can't help but respect him for being honest and telling his story. No bravado, no playing "Mr. Big" but instead talking about the brutal reality of that life. Behind all of the swagger is so much fear - only a few can truly "succeed" at it and they are sociopaths/psychopaths, and even they will highly likely end up in the jail or dead (the top guys you wouldn't even know were gangsters: they would be seen as "respectable businessmen", such as property developers who have friends in the police, in politics and so on and let the people on the streets sell their drugs and do their dirty work, or they might be a banker who helps launder it. It is a pyramid scheme of sorts).
Glad he's in a better place. Bless him, you can tell he has a heart of gold underneath all the sh*t he went through.

That quote is often misunderstood. It is not the pain and harm you experience that makes you stronger. The act of *overcoming* the adversities facing you is what makes you stronger. You can keep getting beaten down and weaker every time and still be alive, and stay forever a victim. It is *overcoming* that makes us stronger, not the surviving.

I got into many fights, booze , i never bullied anyone but if anyone was hurting people who did not deserve it or being bulliied i would step in, regardless of how many scum bags there were. In the last part of this video, i started to fill up with tears......you said you wanted to nurture and give the love to your child that you should have had.....you certainly did deserve to have that love and so did i. Thanks for sharing this Billy, very moving. I watched your movie when I first moved out to Thailand, excellent. You’ve had a tough old existence from an early age bloke, hoping all is playing out for you and your family. All the best for the future.👍🏻

Billy has an amazing story that I keep going back to reread and rewatch. If you haven’t yet, check his book “A prayer before Dawn” and if you prefer the movie, it goes by the same name. His experiences help me with my own difficulties with drugs and feelings of loneliness and pain. I love reading about his story, as hard and depressing as it can be sometimes, its good to know he made it out on the other side, and turned his life into something positive. I hope I can get there one day

Great bloke billy moor and I love hearing story’s about men who had poor upbringings and making a success of their adult life to make sure their children don’t go through the same shit they did … I myself had a great childhood but fell off the rails big time with drugs , violence , prison etc but at 32 I changed my life around and now have 3 beautiful children who I live my life for , a leopard can change its spots you just have to work hard at it …. Respect billy bro 🙏🏽

This guy is so genuine and authentic telling his story. No glorifying anything just telling what he went through and did. Massive respect to him for turning it all around.
His life inspired the movie, A Prayer Before Dawn. Definitely recommend it.

fairplay, tough cookie, inspirational interview, i cant relate to any of it apart from the last few seconds regarding wanting to be there and make sure your son doesn't experience your upbringing. however i have struggled with drug addiction also. watching this has given me hope and positivity regarding me being a great dad too my two little boys. i cant portray how difficult and low you must have felt, thats what is so amazing how you have bounced back. thanks

That was amazing to listen to.. I can relate to quite a few things as I'd lived in Thailand for several years and had a few friends who had gone down the "yaba route" , I thank god that i also didn't go down that way. I can also relate as I had an abusive stepfather and when my son was born I swore that he'd never feel the same terror that I felt.. All we can do is be the best version of ourselves that we can be and make sure to not push our suffering onto others. wish you the best in life mate
