I really enjoyed this conversation, but I think I must've missed some of it...When the video starts, one gentleman is already talking and then it ends abruptly. Is it supposed to only be 8 minutes long?
Fascinating, thankyou! I've never known what to think about this cos I just don't know enough, but now I have lots of lovely info & insights to think about. I like how you looked at Elizabeth of York as an independent person with her own opinions- she might not have been involved in politics, at least not to the extent that Elizabeth Woodville & Margaret Beaufort were, but I don't think that means she was Henry's puppet or slave with no thoughts of her own... or that her non-involvement was purely because Henry wouldn't allow her to have any influence- that could be true, but I never felt like I could assume it was, because I thought it was at least _possible_ that she didn't actually want to be involved. So I was interested by your point that maybe she didn't want to be the same kind of queen as her mother had been. I think that'd probably seem like a very good choice at the time, considering how things turned out with her mother as queen.
