UPDATE! APRIL-3-2024 Old video and I'm busy with life so I can't help much. It even took me years to reply but anyway yhis guide should still work. Then, again, there have been some issue regarding setting up INTERNET SERVER. Mainly it is "Connection failed after 4 tries..." Basically, the issue here is that the port you are using (port 27015) is close on your IP Server. So to fix that you basically need to go to your router settings > port forward and enable the port there. Port forward settings depends on your router so just fill some info there. To check if your port is working and accessible go to: www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and specify port 27015 Afterwards , launch srcds. use this following parameter: srcds.exe -game cstrike -autoupdate -port 27015 -secure -tickrate 100 +map de_dust +sv_lan 0 +maxplayers 32 Lastly, if your friend or anyone wants to connect to your server then give them your IP Address and port and then let them open their counter-strike source game and then open console and type: connect IpAddress:Port (for example: connect 192.168.1.1:27015) Note: If your port isn't accessible , it is most likely blocked by your ISP. Contact them for enabling your port. Double clicking opens a GUI of srcds.exe and via cmd/powershell opens a console, with console you can do much more i think base from my experience and can see server logs that can be used for troubleshooting.
After following the instructions I was able to start the server with no issues. Now that I have shut down the server and restarted the computer, which steps do I need to perform in order to start the server again? Thanks a lot for the video by the way, by far the most straightforward one.
Since you're done just do the things in the video starting from 2:58 to be able to launch srcds If you want to update the server just follow the video from start. That's all.

Hi, if it's about running the server you can use counter strike source server launcher from here: emandev.github.io/css-sl/ It can launch the server without opening powershell and any of the other stuff. And about updating the server you can run it once per week only by doing the video again or doing the commands.
What version of game would I have to have to run this server? because I have v34 and although it finds the server, it does not start because it says the legend "outdated versions" and even if i update game by launcher, it happens the same.. what version of css do u have? :/

We managed on one of our computer to do all what you have done on the video to finally make appear in the source dedicated server the option "Counter strike Source". My friend managed to create the server and to play on it but I can't access it with the IP address he sent me. I think the problem is mostly on the settings of the server. But of course i need to see the error or cause why you can't access it (error message or pop up message). Anyway set your server to sv_lan 1 sv_lan 1 is for internet server sv_lan 0 is for Lan server If you still have error connecting reply to this comment as soon as you notice this.

you can install custom maps on the server by simply copying the map file (.bsp) into cstrike > maps then launch the server first with bots it should generate required files for the map like mesh files and once done you can host it on your server with your friends.

This should work for "any" map supported by counter strike source. I actually don't know what you are trying to specify but if you want to use community made maps download them and copy then paste them to cstrike > maps and then restart your server. Just make sure it's compatible with the game.
Verify the integrity of server files by following the video again. If it doesn't work read and follow the pinned comment. It has the same problem as your friend if I'm not mistaken.

go to your css dedicated server folder and delete steam_appid.txt then follow the video again to verify files. If it doesn't work, it might be Valve's server or something else that I don't know. you can use CMD or Powershell, either of the two works, just make sure the path is correct.

@@z3ko8012 Sorry for the late reply but here goes. First you need a server.cfg to properly customize your Counter-Strike: Source Server. Now, to do that what you need to know are the following. 1. You must have a server cfg. 2. You must put your server.cfg into your cfg folder located in your Counter-Strike: Source Dedicated Server folder > cstrike > cfg 3. Once you've done that you have your preferences loaded. Now once you launch your server (or srcds.exe) type in the console of whatever commands you want. To create a server.cfg search up on google "css server config maker" I personally use Dodbits's server.cfg maker

You need server.cfg for that. Server.cfg has configurations for server name, server password, and so on. You can search google for dodbits server.cfg maker. After creating one, put it on your cstrike/cfg directory.

If number 1 doesn't work, move on to the next. 1. Update css server (Just follow the video again and it will update then validate the server files) - works most of the time 2. set sv_lan 0 or sv_lan 1 in your console (try which ever works, 0 for internet or steam server and 1 for LAN (Local) 4. Close srcds.exe and launch using this parameter: srcds.exe -game cstrike -console -port 27015 +clientport 27005 -maxplayers 64 +map de_dust2 -autoupdate 3. @@duartemonteiro9459 open up commend prompt and type in ipconfig You will see an ip address inline with default gateway. Copy that and paste it to your browser.
via steam or updater app if you are using non-steam, check installation folder if you cant find the shortcut for that to update the css dedicated server just follow the video again that's all

I have checked server.cfg file and it is okay. not able to check port thing. When i try to connect through console get bellow error. Basically, the issue here is that the port you are using (port 27015) is close on your IP Server.

So I can test it myself and find solution.

you can install custom maps on the server by simply copying the map file (.bsp) into cstrike > maps
then launch the server first with bots it should generate required files for the map like mesh files and once done you can host it on your server with your friends.

Re-download steamcmd and put it on a different folder. Then launch it using the process in the video. Make sure you have stable internet at the time.

This should work for "any" map supported by counter strike source. I actually don't know what you are trying to specify but if you want to use community made maps download them and copy then paste them to cstrike > maps and then restart your server. Just make sure it's compatible with the game.

go to your css dedicated server folder and delete steam_appid.txt
then follow the video again to verify files. If it doesn't work, it might be Valve's server or something else that I don't know.
you can use CMD or Powershell, either of the two works, just make sure the path is correct.

First you need a server.cfg to properly customize your Counter-Strike: Source Server.
Now, to do that what you need to know are the following.
1. You must have a server cfg.
2. You must put your server.cfg into your cfg folder located in your Counter-Strike: Source Dedicated Server folder > cstrike > cfg
3. Once you've done that you have your preferences loaded. Now once you launch your server (or srcds.exe) type in the console of whatever commands you want.
To create a server.cfg search up on google "css server config maker"
I personally use Dodbits's server.cfg maker

If your friend still cannot join then on the console of srcds type sv_lan 0 or sv_lan 1 and check which helps. Also you can change the map (de_dust2) to any map you want. This should solve your problem.

You need server.cfg for that. Server.cfg has configurations for server name, server password, and so on. You can search google for dodbits server.cfg maker. After creating one, put it on your cstrike/cfg directory.

@@puneetsrivastava2717 I did not use hamachi btw so I'm limited with stuff when helping you. However here are some steps you can use to be able to solve it. If number 1 doesn't work, move on to the next.
1. Update css server (Just follow the video again and it will update then validate the server files) - works most of the time
2. set sv_lan 0 or sv_lan 1 in your console (try which ever works, 0 for internet or steam server and 1 for LAN (Local)
4. Close srcds.exe and launch using this parameter: srcds.exe -game cstrike -console -port 27015 +clientport 27005 -maxplayers 64 +map de_dust2 -autoupdate

If you want to restart server you can change map by changelevel command in console or just quit the srcds and launch it again.
