To clarify: There is a spot on the circuit board where you could connect a 5-pin female connector. So if entirely removing the default joystick, you can use a pcb type joystick instead but you will still need to get the appropriate wire/connector combo. The way this stick comes is two sets of two loose wires running to the circuit board and connecting via four individual slots.
Hey, there. Thanks for checking this out, and yes - I can totally do a video on this. I'm not sure when, though I will keep it on my list of things to put together in the near future.@@swolsauce9923
Are you aiming to swap sticks soon? If so, I can put together a personal/private video until something more official is put together. If it's not urgent, I'll just stick to eventually doing a full video later. @@swolsauce9923
@@Shmuptopia wait really?! Man that would be awesome but I feel like that would be asking to much. But no worries I can wait until you drop an official video but I appreciate the offer!
I got this same stick for my birthday from my homie and this review made me feel more happy about my first stick. Great review and thanks for going in detail about the lose feeling of the stick itself
Hey Pedro! Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations on your first arcade stick! That's always exciting stuff and you snagged a well-rounded one for sure! Since this video, FocusAttack now offers custom art via their provided template. Enjoy!
That's great! First I've heard of this. I'd imagine it's in the manual? I've never read this over before but it wouldn't surprise me. Thanks for sharing this!
For anyone wondering about the pcb inside this thing, I asked Mayflash how fast is it, and they replied it was 1ms. Thats in the same ball game as a Brook UFB.
its not possible to this have 1ms, construction like dualsense pad has 3ms, xbox pad has 7ms and those are companans who has insane tech and budgets. This device has many pcbs is i see, i am not electronic but i think more pcb-higher ms and more interferences.
And another who may wonder, the F500 and F300 seems to have a software update to lower the latency to 1ms, it would be nice to have tools to test it but that's what the say, so it's seems all this models can hit 1ms. If it's true is nice.
Fantastic critique! Great attention to detail young lad. As much as I like the F700, the 500 Elite won my heart with the joystick test and I snagged it for the price you quoted, $189 CAD. Seemed like a deal for a quality product. It arrives Friday. Shmup happiness to follow. 😉👍
Thanks so much for watching this and commenting! I always appreciate seeing such enthusiasm and I'm stoked to hear you snagged the f500 Elite - it's an absolutely solid peripheral. Let me know how things go when you get onto it or if you have any questions at all. Also, is this your first arcade stick? What Shmups are you dipping into these days? Thanks again, and have a stellar one! And yes, $189 is an absolute bargain for the quality you get with this controller.
@@Shmuptopia I'm a full on Arcade Stick virgin which is hard to believe given I'm probably the oldest gamer you'll likely to meet. I agree, it's a steal at the price point. I've seen Mayflashs in the hands of pros, that's testament enough for me young lad.
Appreciate the review, I'm buying my first fight stick after playing tekken 7 at the arcade (i have been playing t8 with a controller on PC so it was a great way to see if stick was a potential for me!). Seems like the F700 is the way to go for now and attempt a stick swap later with your eventual video. Currently same price as the F500 elite on amazon ($150 USD), so it is one of those things where its like "do i get the older, better components or go with the newer refresh/features and mod later?". I never really knew how extension the modding is with fight sticks, just looking at the focus attack site can overwhelm a newbie. However I look forward into getting more into it. Thanks again for your review, it was really informational!!!
Hey, Shred - thanks so much for checking this out! I'll be starting to make beginner stick-related tutorials very soon - everything from button swaps, stick swap, ordering on FocusAttack (including custom art), tension spring swap, dustcover and balltop swap, etc. So never hesitate to let me know if there's anything else you need! Yeah, the f700 will serve you just fine if that's what you go with. Thanks again and have a stellar rest of the weekend!
Great review i consider buying this stick for playing fighting, arcade, 2d beat them all games on ps5 or Switch wireless. Did you notice some incompatibility game ? Mostly on ps5 because it using legacy mode correct ? I read that DBZ fighterz not playable with this stick, have you test ? Thanks 👍
Great review and comparison. They really upped the quality on that box, it looks gorgeous. So glad they went with black, too, instead of grey... you'll get a sharper looking customization that way in my opinion. Love the new stick!
Thanks so much, Cedar! Yeah, black plastic for the casing is always sharp for artwork compared to other colours or shades. Glad you enjoyed this video.
I got a Hori Alpha for Christmas and it's great. However, if this had been out notably before then, I probably would've picked this up for the all around features. And I have ps5, which most of the truly budget options just don't work with consistently. Also looks like it now includes a 5 pin connector for the joystick and that's awesome. I definitely like that this is a bit larger than the other mayflash options but not quite as "full lap" size or bigger like most. And stick swapping or not, I know a lot of their stuff is usually compatible with sanwa springs and actuators, so that might help tighten up that stick feel for cheap too.
Yeah, I didn't point that out in the video and it was hidden under the wires but it's great this has a 5-pin slot! It still means disconnecting the joystick itself will render it more or less unusable unless I get into soldering, which I'm not planning on doing any time soon. How is the Hori Alpha? I haven't looked much into that one. Thanks for watching!
@Shmuptopia I like it a lot overall. I don't have a ton of comparison experience, but it all feels solid and I do see that their brand of components get well reviewed relative to Sanwa and Seimitsu. Nice size, maybe a bit less solid feeling than ones with more metal in the body, but I have no complaints. I'm no pro by any stretch, though. It'd be lovely if it had a detachable cord, easier to swap art, etc, but not the end of the world. Got an alternate spring and an octo gate from focus attack and that's been delightful. Oh, playing Streets 4, some OG scrolling shooters, and Pac-Man have been solid in addition to the modern fighters
I always appreciate such well-rounded comments. Yeah, Mayflash definitely puts out solid options and they continue to improve as they go, which is always a plus. Given that my main realm is Shmups, I'd love to know what OG scrolling shooters you've been dabbling in! Thanks! @@Jarrych83
@@Jarrych83 Progear is good times, and super cheap on Switch via the Arcade stadium or whatever it's called. It's something like two bucks! Some solid titles there.
Excellent review! Especially the comparison between the F500 and F700. I recently bought a Mayflash F500 V2 and the first thing I noticed is that the buttons on the Mayflash F700 are a little further away from the lever. I prefer the buttons closer to the lever. Other than that, the Mayflash F700 has significant improvements. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity give it an impressive leap in quality and is also something that all its competitors lack? or most of them. Also, I think that now the connection to PS3 and PS4 is direct via USB and not using a PS3/PS4 compatible gamepad as a link between the Mayflash arcade sitck and the console. It continues to maintain compatibility with retro systems and also, as in these cases, improves it. Furthermore, if the Mayflash F300/F500 were already easy to customize to change buttons and lever, now the Mayflash F700 is even easier. There are almost no other cables crossing with the button cables. And the same if you want to change the lever for a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT or similar Sanwa lever or the Seimitsu LS-XX-01. It would be enough to connect one end of the 5-pin JST-XH cable to the 5-pin connector of the new lever and the other end of the 5-pin cable to the 5-pin connector of the Mayflash F700 main circuit board. As a major point of loss, the Mayflash F700 has lost the compatibility with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S that the Mayflash F300/F500 have. Not sure about the Xbox 360... On the Mayflash RUclips channel they said that the version of the F700 for Xbox will arrive a little before summer. But it's a slight disappointment that they haven't achieved full compatibility on a single device. On the other hand, another aspect to improve would have been if they had put 2 more buttons for the L3/R3. If they had added those buttons, what reasons would customers have to buy other more expensive, less compatible, competing arcade sticks without Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth connectivity?
Hey there! I'm glad you enjoyed the review! I always strive to see what I can add to a review video outside of simply reviewing something by itself, and the comparison felt like one way to keep things interesting, engaging for the audience, and more useful. That's an interesting observation you made with the button placement being different on the f700 compared to the f500 V2! You bring up a number of great points. Also, the f700 definitely pushes things forward, and it's just a matter of time before Mayflash achieves full compatibility. Thanks so much for watching!
@@jcsworld69 I'm not able to touch on that since I've never sampled the v2 and don't often hear others talk about it. Trusting someone else has information for you!
The one thing (and it's something that I actually discussed at length with Mayflash QA/support) that I would love to see in either an F700 Pro or a future F900 is a detachable USB. As it is, the cable can only be replaced by opening up the case and removing it from the board. I'd love to see a stock model with a PCB-attached USB port for easily unplugging and replacing a cable. Despite that minor gripe, I really do think Mayflash still offers the best overall value for purchasing a new arcade stick in 2024. Whether it's for fighting games, shmups, general arcade emulation, etc. Mayflash just happens to have a great balance of value and quality.
I totally agree with this. One thing I liked about the Fusion by PowerA arcade stick was the detachable USB cable. I also feel the same way about Mayflash. Their overall build quality of their different models is solid and, other than the occasional hiked up price, they are reasonably priced. I recently heard Mayflash is doing a leverless in the near future, which I'm excited to check out as well. I think one more modern implementation I'd like to see going forward is their take on an easy-open method like some of the other sticks where you can just press a button and swing the bottom panel open for immediate access to the interior. I like the screw method for sure but as I find myself constantly needing to double-check things now that I'm doing more arcade stick videos, it would be a convenient thing and not be so time consuming. On that note, when I have a display case, I'll likely have all the bottom plates loose to begin with. Thanks for watching!
Love your passion shmup bro! I especially enjoyed the slow mo comparison with the levers. Price seems super approachable! I believe i paid more for the RAP which i still want to upgrade. We watched on the big screen! Love the perspective as well.
Hey, bro! Trust all is well on your end! I still like the RAP but haven't busted that one out in quite some time. Now I'm curious to take a look at the interior of that unit and see how they have things set up. Thanks for watching, Trev!
@@Shmuptopia Ah, so you just used a screenshot. Nice. I started to try to find custom artwork for my 8bitdo Arcade stick, but decided today that I would buy the Mayflash F500 Elite and customize that one instead. I see the F700 now has an elite version too. Would going for the F500E be a solid choice, or should I go with the new 700? I think it’s missing some sanwa components but I’m not sure. I’ll be using whatever one I get for my switch.
@@anotherkellydown I didn't mean to send that last comment yet, as I wasn't finished typing. I think because of what Rolling Gunner means to me, I would encourage others to not go for duplicates. That said, if your comment gets me thinking about doing custom stuff for people.

If you like the features of the f700 (I cover these in my review of it), then I'd imagine either the Elite or non-elite are the way to go. But yeah, if you don't want to think too much about it, the f500 E is a solid choice.
@@Shmuptopia I think I may go with the 700E as it’s nearly the same price as the 500E and it has the same parts (as far as I can tell). Heading over to watch your review before pulling the trigger. Thanks for your feedback! You seem to always try to reply to everyone and that means a lot. As for the custom artwork, I’ll just grab a screenshot now that I know that works well. When I was trying some Mushihimesama art from the internet, the site that does the artwork for the top panel kept saying the image was not high def and might not look good. I think you’d get some business if you were to start doing custom stuff for people (as if your plate isn’t full enough, right?) 😉
Great video Dace! It looks like the lever has 5 wires going to it, so I’d imagine someone could just snip them and marrette/heat-shrink them to a JLF harness (they would have to trace out the right wires of course to make sure and do it right, but that’s kinda what I had to do when I stuck a JLF in my Arcade1Up). But yeah, the spring-back on that stick was nuts 😂. I’d imagine it would definitely hit the opposing direction and maybe even rattle against both direction switches a few times lol
Thanks for watching and for catching that! Yeah, there are two wires connected to each of the four metal tongues, and each of those sets of two go into their own little two-wire connection area not sure what the correct term is) on the circuit board. I don't recall if that end of things specifically is sautered or if it's four individual clip-in ends. I'll need to take a closer look sometime tonight. The wobble is wild. I've come to enjoy using larger balltops, which are of course heavier and can only imagine what the slow motion would look like with those on ha. Thanks again, man!
For sure, the 5pin connectors are super convenient for the jlf. I have some 5pin to 5pin and 5pin to loose ends on hand just in case. I'd love to hear what else you have in your f500 or what other controllers you enjoy.
I'd be interested to hear your opinions on various levers. I recently picked up an LS-56 myself and while it is very precise I just couldn't make it work for me. I find that I need my lever to be as fast and easy to move as possible. I picked up a 0.5lb spring (standard is 1lb) and put it in my JLF with a 1mm oversized actuator and it was like flipping a switch. For the first time I actually felt comfortable using it. I'm still not very experienced with stick so I'm curious how someone who uses one a lot more judges the various options out there.
Hey, Chino! Thanks for swinging by as always. I appreciate your time and input. Yeah, I can totally understand that. I like a certain degree of fluidity but it also depends on the game, of course. The plan is to do a video in the near future (things are just very swamped these days) comparing the LS-32, 40, 56, and 62. Another video will cover tweaking the jlf specifically (but that will mainly be the stock 1lb, 2lb and 4lb spring options. If I can track down a 0.5, I'd be all for seeing how I feel about that as well. In addition to that, while not levered, I'll be covering some leverless controllers soon enough as well - and I'm getting closer and closer to doing Mega Man, just need to get some projects off of my plate before I buckle down with too many other things. Either way, glad you're feeling more comfortable now with the way you have things set up! That's fantastic! Thanks again and have a pleasant evening.
Certainly looks good. I think I would be willing to get this for Switch since I don't have a Switch-compatible stick, but now that I'm back to practicing shmups again, I'm still more enticed than ever by leverless (in light of the directional input errors that get me killed once every so often). Knowing myself, I'd likely end up having both within the next few years. I like the aesthetic and the size, and if a template for custom art gets made, that'd be one more reason for me to keep it in mind. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for swinging by! Having both is definitely fine. I got a leverless last year, sampled it a bit but have been doing more with it recently (mainly for fighting games since I'm exploring that a bit and will have some leverless controller reviews coming soon). Leverless is fun and the learning curve is certainly a big factor but if you're all about lapping up the experience, you'll be fine. Yeah, the template for the f700 is a must at this point! Literally any art would look super sharp in here. Thanks again!
Man, I have two sticks now (the f500 and 8bitdo) hard to justify getting a third one but it looks like Mayflash is stepping up their game. you’re not kidding with mayflash new packaging. Waaaay better than the last one. I just checked the product page and it looks like Mayflash has provided the artwork template already like their f500, the issue being you’ll have to cut it yourself. I think the price is steep, especially since it’s not sanwa parts but I guess you’re paying for the wireless and ps5 compatibility.
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, this is Mayflash's first wireless controller and I'm sure a number of people will like the PS5 compatibility right out of the box. I forgot to specify that they do indeed have their own template. I think the tricky thing would be printing off the correct size of art to match whereas the cutting would probably be a simpler task. Photopea is great for uploading a template and then adjusting your art position over top, so you can see what it would look like but I'm not sure what to do after the fact. I kind of doubt the template would be designed to print at the correct size already, but who knows for sure. No worries, two sticks is plenty! Thanks for watching, Fran!
Hey, Duppy! That's awesome to hear! Super stoked you have a stick. Was there a particular game or reason that drew you to the idea of using one? Do you have any specific plans for custom stuff yet or are you just going to enjoy it as is for the first while? Thanks so much for dropping by and congrats!
I have been taking Tekken 8 quite seriously, but i felt like the pad was holding me back a bit, i have huge ogre hands so pad required a bit more dexterity than i am capable of. I figured id give stick a go as its a larger platform. I will probably keep it stock until i get a feel for it then i may get some custom Led Buttons as I am a sucker for RGB :)@@Shmuptopia
I'm only on Switch, so things like Tekken 8 and sf6 are out of reach but they look so incredibly awesome. Yeah, I won't be surprised if you end up loving stick. The learning curve will differ for everyone, but once you are comfortable with it, it's fantastic. I'm a couple weeks into being on ABCs or leverless controllers and really enjoying how they control. Thanks again and let me know if you need help with anything or even just want to update me on how things are going - it'd be great to hear about your journey with stick!@@duppy9012
Hello! Thanks for the great video, I was about to buy the F500 ELITE because of the sanwa buttons when I noticed that there is a new wireless model, I have many doubts about which one to buy, mostly because of the sanwa buttons. Would it be possible to change the buttons and the joystick for sanwa ones on the f700 model(I am a newbie in this stuff, so I have no idea.)? Which of the two is more convenient to buy F500 elite or F700, since they are almost the same price. Thank you very much for your answer.
Hey there, thanks for checking this out. Yes, you can change the buttons and stick on the f700 if you want something else in there. I think there are a few things to consider. If you are set on Sanwa buttons and don't want to buy them separately, then the f500 Elite saves you from having to do that. If you don't mind getting your own Sanwa buttons, then putting new buttons into the f700 is easy. The stick in the f700 can be removed. If you intend to use the pre-existing wires, then you'd need to use a soldering iron since the stick is a fastener type, not a PCB type. If you're installing a PCB type, then you'd likely want a 5-pin to 5-pin female wire for a more convenient connection. Another thing to think about is how much does being able to play wirelessly mean to you? Ultimately it's up to you. Both are great options. If you want wireless with the option to change buttons and a little hassle to change the stick, go with the f700. If you don't need wireless, and don't want the extra task of swapping buttons and the stick, go with the f500. Trust this helps and all the best! Let me know if you have any other questions.
No R3/L3 and no track pad? That's a bummer. This stick sound have been perfect for those of us who swap out all the buttons and lever. I like the price and layout.
Great review. How hard would it be to convert it into leverless? Can I just remove the stick and drill new holes? I want a wireless fightbox compatible with ps5.
Great question. I suppose you could work it however you need to as long as the stick is out of there and replaced with directional buttons somehow. I know there are conversion kits on various websites, though I've never looked into them enough to know for sure what casings these work on, if they're universal, or any other ins and outs.
Hey, Antwon! Thanks for watching. It’s a neat feature for sure. While dials are certainly not a new innovation, it’s cool seeing one used on an arcade stick.
Thank you for the review. I have the 500 Elite, which is fine for now, but will keep it in mind since I have multiple consoles 😊. Quick question, where did you get the custom plate for your 500? Also interested in the shop for buying the stick and buttons 😊
Hey, thanks for checking this out. Yeah, no worries - the f500 Elite is solid. I do most of my ordering from FocusAttack. There are various shops but since they have custom print potential, I've just gravitated toward them more than others. When you say custom plate, did you mean print or are you missing a plexi for your f500? If you meant print, here's the exact order item for a custom job for artwork to go under the plexi of the Mayflash f500/f500 Elite: focusattack.com/artwork-print-and-cut-for-venom-ps4-mayflash-f500-universal/ They function off of a daily total system, so if the available amount is 0, you'll need to wait until the next day. Also, be sure to pay close attention to which options you select via the clickable dropdown menus. For instance, they have specific button cuts for Sanwa, Seimitsu, Crown, and GamerFinger in the one menu and another one for whether you want them to cut out the start button or not. If you are uncertain about anything, you can always check with them before placing an order to make sure nothing is messed up. Furthermore, they provide an editor that you can use to load the template, then drop art overtop to see how things look. I've been meaning to do an entire tutorial on just how to order this since there are a number of ins and outs that some people might not be sure about when first ordering a custom print. Trust this helps!
Thank you for making this review. I have a question that I have not been able to find a clear answer for. For the actual stick component can you not remove the entire thing? I'm looking to upgrade from a mayflash f300 and move the stick and buttons over to this one. On the website it says it has a 5-pin connector so I'm assuming I can install a Sanwa JLF stick. However everywhere else I look they say the same thing you said. I don't think I understand what the soldering part means.
Hey there, thanks for reaching out about this. I was not as clear with my meaning as I could have been in the video, so I'll explain in greater detail. So, there is a spot on the circuit board (it is hidden under the wires in the video, so you cannot see it) where you could insert a 5-pin connector. They most likely (but I haven't tested it yet myself) included this so that people can use it with that sort of connection type. You can certainly remove the entire joystick, it's just that you will either need to have wires that go from the joystick to the circuit board in sets of two - since it has four individual slots on the circuit board or have a 5-pin to 5-pin wire like the Mayflash f500 Elite (and possibly the non-Elite version) comes with. I don't have the f300, so I'm not sure what kind of wiring situation they did for that one. Is it 5-pin to 5-pin? If so, you could definitely remove the JLF and experiment with that 5-pin slot on the f700 circuit board. The soldering part is just that, if you ever want to remove the wires from the joystick that comes with the f700, you'd need a soldering iron to do so and if you ever want to use that stick elsewhere, you'd need to solder it with whatever new wires you're dealing with in a different arcade stick. I trust this helps!
@@Shmuptopia I think the joystick is pretty much the same on the f300 and f700. Their stick was soldered with 2-pin connectors and i was able to install the sanwa with a 5-pin to 5-pin connector. I looked on reddit and people said they did the same thing on the f700. Thanks a ton for the reply.
2 Questions for you. The wire on my Madcatz TE has finally died (can't wiggle and re-wiggle it until it registers forever), is a replacement cable easy to re-attach to the PCB? I've bought an F700 for the compatibility (seems to work on everything) and for just having a spare. If I don't like this loose feel, how would you rate the difficulty of replacing the joystick for a smooth brain like myself?
Hey Marcus, great questions! To answer your first, I don't have experience changing out a non-functional wire, so I've never actually looked at how it is attached and am not sure what the best option would be for you. That said, I'm eventually going to get around to making a series that covers all sorts of modding and replacement processes for those completely new to those sorts of activities. There's always a possibility that a wire replacement process could be covered, but no guarantee. To answer your second question, changing the joystick on the f700 is very easy! The series idea I mentioned above will absolutely include a brief tutorial covering this. In the meantime, if you would like me to share a private explanation video that I did for someone else who wondered about changing sticks on the f700, I can certainly share that link. I don't want these unofficial videos floating around, so let me know if you want it and I'll leave it up for a day or so before removing the link. The alternative is to wait for my actual tutorial video. Either way is fine with me and if you have any other questions or require assistance, let me know. Thanks for watching!
@@Shmuptopia I'm in no rush to start swapping pieces because I assume the joystick won't be so awful I want to swap it out right away. Even though that slow mo was pretty damning for how wild it could be. Thanks for the information though, I'll keep an eye out for further info.
@@marcusgege2094Yeah, it'll likely be perfectly fine. I only really see it being an issue if you have preferences depending on what games you're playing. Enjoy the stick and never hesitate to reach out!

Very tempting, liking the clean interior. Recently picked up a ps4 so had to install a brooks universal pcb inside my Hori RAPV. It's working but not fully functional like lights and the r3 l3 buttons. This would be a nice update for switching between pc, switch, and ps4. Great vid. That Rolling Gunner artwork looks so awesome every time I see it ha I really need an art upgrade.
Could have sworn I responded to this message! Thanks for watching, man! I'm glad you enjoyed it and the Rolling Gunner art still blow some away. As for your Hori, is there potential for getting the remainder sorted out?

I wouldn't mind checking out some Korean levers at some point. There are a couple of main options based on what would be more immediately available like the Crown/Samducksa Shinsun 2D or even the C/S Knee Lever Neo Edition. Both would be neat to check out in the near future! @@Jake14211
What is the distance between the lever and the Square/X/Y button? I'm sure the lever is further away from the button compared to regular vewlix layout which most arcade stick uses, including the F500.
Please excuse the delayed response, your comment slipped through the cracks! From the lever to the specified button, it's a little over 2.5 inches. That's to the button edge itself, not the surrounding it. Thanks for checking this out!
Looks good, Iike the slightly bigger size, but no 5 pin connector for the stuck is a deak breaker, bad decision from Mayflash. Prefer the F500 for the easy modding.
Definitely understand your thoughts on this. There's technically a 5-pin slot hidden under the wires on the upper board that we don't see in this video, so you can still install a PCB type joystick, you'd just need to also grab a 5-pin to 5-pin female wire. But yeah, having a fastener type right out of the box is not my preference. Thanks for jumping in!

So i'm thinking of buying either f500 elite or f700. In ur honest opinion, which stick do u think Is gonna b more DURABLE? Thanks in advance for Ur time and great vid btw.
That is really strange! I wonder what happened to it. Is it that you get literally zero response from any given input or do some things still function? Does the V2 have any sort of indicator LED? If so, does it still light up or is that also toast? I would love to get my hands on it and take a look. Depending on how involved you want to get, you could always isolate the components and test them individually to narrow the source of the problem. To answer your question, it's tricky to say which one might be more durable since I haven't had the f700 for very long and my time on it is fairly insubstantial compared to the f500 Elite. I just know that the f500 holds up and has been a community go-to for a fair chunk of time but with the features the f700 offers, it may be more to your liking. Either way, let me know what you zero in on and thanks for watching!
@@Shmuptopia thanks so much for Ur fast response. It still works but not properly, 10 percent of the times i get neutral Jump instead of forward Jump of neutral crouch instead of crouch block. Tbh it's something i have been noticing for days already, but now intensified to the point of not being able to play anymore. No issues with indicator light. I'm not so sure about the components test since ive never done smthng like that and either way, i guess i should spend Money on new components without guarantee that it will fully work...thanks so much for Ur prompt answer
I wonder how reliable/futureproof the ps4/ps5 compatibility is? I take it this isn't a licensed product... so is it likely to lose compatibility if Sony suddenly updates its consoles' firmware? Seems risky especially since this no longer has the backup option of having a port to plug in controllers, unlike the F500.
I have a couple of questions if that's ok I was thinking about getting the F700 but alot of pepole i talked to told me that it's worth to get the F500 because of the sanwa buttons and all that, and i just wanted to know if all the changes matter that much, or if i should wait to see if a F700 Elite comes out. Also i noticed you said the stick is wireless but you can still connect it to you're computer correct? And since this is something im going to use alot i wouldn't mind using a bit more money to get something better so pelase do tell if you have any reccomendations! (For PC) Sorry for all the questions or if i ask something you covered in the video but these are some questions taht have been in my head for a while and could not find answers to anywere! And of course loved the video!
Hey there! Thanks so much for sharing your questions and it's no problem at all. So, there are a couple of main angles to this. If you're specifically after keeping the price down while also getting Sanwa components, then definitely snag the f500 Elite because you'll have it for life. I personally don't need Sanwa parts when I get an arcade stick since I always switch it out for Seimitsu buttons and whatnot, so if I were buying a Mayflash for the first time, I'd just go with the f500 non-elite version. That said, the f700 is still a fantastic option due to the versatility and to answer your question, yes, you can still plug in via USB or wireless for Windows/Mac. Use this page to confirm: www.mayflash.com/product/Wireless_Arcade_Stick_F700.html The changes between the f500 and f700 may or may not matter to you depending on your preferences. If you see yourself ever wanting the convenience of wireless, then the f700 is your option out of the f500, f500 Elite, and f700. Glad you enjoyed the video and please let me know if you need anything else from me! All the best with your choice.
Oh that's great to know! And yea i could mod it if needed but since it's not something im that confrtable with (for now) i feel like it's better to pay it safe and start modding when im a bit more experienced or have some money to spare haha Then i probably might buy the F500 Elite unless there is some "big upgrade" from that one to the F700 wich if i understood from you're reply the biggest change is mainly it being wireless, and of course the sanwa components on the F500 Elite but i have never tried they're stuff to know if it's worth getting´, and the price isn't a worry, i mean 200 euros or less is ideal but i don't mind using a bit more if it's really worth it For a bit of context i do have an hitbox but it's leverless and i would like to try one with a lever! Also thanks for the quick reply!
No problem! I would have responded sooner but I was getting the kids ready for sleep. So yeah, either the f500 Elite or f700 will be great and the things I specified are more or less the main considerations at this point. Let me know what mods you might want to do first or aren't sure about and if I haven't already done a video covering these types of things, I can put one together in the near future. It's definitely easier stuff than you might think. Great to hear you have an all-button-controller. I will actually be releasing some review videos in the coming months specifically revolving around various leverless controllers. It's just a matter of getting around to all of these things with limited free time.@@rafdegus4180
Take your time! Family is always first. So, to answer your first question, I'm not even sure about what mods there are. I said that because some people told me that I could buy the F500 and change the buttons, which I thought could be called 'modding.' But feel free to point out any mods you think are good, and I'll search them up! Also, sorry for making this exchange so lengthy, but I just wanted to make sure I was buying something worth the price. I feel like the F500, elite or not, is more than enough for now, especially since, from what you referred to, there is not really anything I need that would make the upgrade to the F700 worth it. (Just a warning it is really late here so i might be asleep if you do answer this but i feel like i got an idea of what to do now! Thank you so much and i hope you have a great night!) Edit: Just got some news saying that the F700 elite will launch in may! Kinda pointless but since we were in the topic I felt like i should say it!
Generally speaking, the main mods in terms of easy-to-do ones are things like changing out the stick, swapping the dustcover, balltop, or buttons, adding art, tension spring, etc. More technical mods would be things like converting a built-in USB cable to a detachable one and things like that. If you have an idea of how you want your arcade stick to look, the usually the first thing is either art of just balltop and buttons - which won't be a problem even for someone without experience. You are correct in saying that the f500, Elite or not, is more than enough for a first stick. Thanks for sharing that about the f700 Elite coming in May!@@rafdegus4180
One viewer said that they asked Mayflash and their response was 1ms. I believe that’s right up there with Brook, so Mayflash either improved things or their response was not accurate.
It’s certainly a consideration. At the moment, I only have a 2lb and 4lb available and am in the process of using these for a future video project, so I haven’t designated them for elsewhere. This would totally change the situation, though.
Definitely! I'm aiming to do a comparison video covering the Seimitsu LS-32, 40, 56, and 62 plus the spring stuff (might be a different vid since the number of combinations gets out of hand before long.@@trevorlong8145
Hey, great question! I've never looked into the f500 v2 before, so I wouldn't quote me on this, but I would be amazed if it wasn't using a standard 35mm.
That is certainly not accurate. I've never encountered an arcade stick that only functioned for a specific genre, so I'm not sure why the product would have been worded that way on Amazon.
@@Shmuptopia daaamn bro the was the quickest reply ever! thanks! so on Amazon, its as I stated for fighting games only. but from multiple articles I just skimmed I think they left out the word "ps5."

Thanks for popping in! I likely wasn’t clear enough but I’m aware of the 5pin on the circuit board. It’s just that the joystick itself doesn’t have the same connector. I find dealing with joystick+circuit board that is 5pin to 5pin to be super convenient as opposed to 5pin to all loose wires. That way, you can always just remove the entire joystick if need be without needing to buy another wire.
These are the default snap-in buttons you're attempting to remove? There shouldn't be any tugging at all and the snap-ins should come out super easily. Just press both parts that release the hold, and then push the entire button and shaft out of the casing. Let me know if you need further assistance.
@@thewonkwonkYou're welcome. Let me know if you need anything else. There are all sorts of great stick options for Switch, though. Have fun zeroing in on one if you decide to make a purchase.
From what I understand, they don't sell directly from their page as each product has a link to the main place(s) to actually purchase. I could be mistaken though. Either way, Amazon is usually the main source if tracking down any given stick.
If you're after Sanwa parts, or other parts from various companies such as Seimitsu, IL, Crown, etc., check out Focus Attack. Their website has a lot of parts and accessories available.
They are in the USA and I can only speak for the fact they ship to Canada. They likely ship to other countries as well, maybe even overseas but I am not sure if there are countries they do not ship to.@@losangulos
Yeah, I'm not sure why it wasn't included. If it is, it's not on their list on the product page. I'd imagine a dongle would still provide access, though not everyone will want to have that extra cost thrown into the mix.
f300 $30 usd ebay brand new. Spend another $30 on arcade shock or focus attack whatever for a new stick and buttons set, joystick mods, balltop, springs etc. And you have a fully modded, perfect stick for $60 (for pc)
Approximately $230 cad/170 usd/134 pounds. There's a section of the video that covered prices and how much the f500 Elite has dropped over the last few years. Feel free to jump in using this time: 13:42
Sanwa is essentially a reputable company widely regarded for their quality products. Generally speaking, if you hear someone mention "Sanwa parts", there's a good chance they are referring to a Sanwa joystick, Sanwa buttons, etc. Some people swear by Sanwa, but ultimately it boils down to preference. Trust this helps. Let me know if there's anything specific you're wondering about and I'll see what I can do or perhaps someone else will chime in. Thanks for checking this out.
Is there any way you could make a video on this? I just bought this stick recently, love it.

Don't forget that the Mayflash arcade sticks have the hidden L3 and R3 buttons...
Push Turbo + Share/Select/Back/View/- simultaneously becomes L3/LS/LA.
Push Turbo + Option/Start/Run/Menu/+ simultaneously becomes R3/RS/RA.

@@Shmuptopia Thank you. Will look out for that 😁
For anyone wondering about the pcb inside this thing, I asked Mayflash how fast is it, and they replied it was 1ms. Thats in the same ball game as a Brook UFB.
Thanks for that!
its not possible to this have 1ms, construction like dualsense pad has 3ms, xbox pad has 7ms and those are companans who has insane tech and budgets. This device has many pcbs is i see, i am not electronic but i think more pcb-higher ms and more interferences.
Usb 1ms, 2.4G 5ms or 6ms, Bluetooth 12ms to 16ms
And another who may wonder, the F500 and F300 seems to have a software update to lower the latency to 1ms, it would be nice to have tools to test it but that's what the say, so it's seems all this models can hit 1ms. If it's true is nice.
Fantastic critique! Great attention to detail young lad. As much as I like the F700, the 500 Elite won my heart with the joystick test and I snagged it for the price you quoted, $189 CAD. Seemed like a deal for a quality product. It arrives Friday. Shmup happiness to follow. 😉👍

Thank you for detailed review. You just answered all my questions, so I can proceed with purchase.
Glad you found this helpful, and thanks for watching! Enjoy the controller!
Thanks! @@Jarrych83
@@Shmuptopia oh geez. Just old Capcom stuff like 1943 and Progear
The F500 v2 still works on Xbox series S/X? (Even after they banned some of the 3rd party controllers?)

I bought a 5 pin cable from amazon for my f500 and it's so easy to connect a jlf with it.
Just got the F500 elite for 100 GBP its my first stick im very excited :D
Any of you guys know if the f500 elite is compatible with the ps5 im planning to buy one if it does
It's compatible with PS5 if you're using a dongle like the MagicBoots.@@aldahry4573
It is also important to mention that in the 700 model PS5 works...in the 500 model PS5 does not work and you need an adapter
Mayflash has come a long way. The stick that is in this thing looks the same as the ones in the new black 8bitdo xbox arcade sticks .
No doubt! I'd actually be interested in seeing the one in the black 8bitdo Xbox arcade sticks.
No R3/L3 and no track pad? That's a bummer. This stick sound have been perfect for those of us who swap out all the buttons and lever. I like the price and layout.
Ouch, that sucks, my RAP for PS4 has it, it is not wireless, though.
There's a patch that adds it
Great review.
I like the system selector knob. Good video/review 🎉
If you meant print, here's the exact order item for a custom job for artwork to go under the plexi of the Mayflash f500/f500 Elite: focusattack.com/artwork-print-and-cut-for-venom-ps4-mayflash-f500-universal/
They function off of a daily total system, so if the available amount is 0, you'll need to wait until the next day.
I got one yesterday and so far really like. I payed $150 usd for it.
Solid! Enjoy the stick, and thanks for checking this out.
Does it come with a octagonal restrictor gate?
Yes, it does.
@@Shmuptopia I got them on amazon. A little over a dollar for 5 even though I need one lol. I also found a 5-pin to 5-pin extender on arcadeshock

By flat version, do you just mean one that is a slim build and still has a stick or an all-button controller? From what I've heard, they're planning to release a leverless model at some point. Who knows if this is accurate information, though. It'd be neat to see what they come up with either way. Thanks for popping by!

Always a pleasure!
@@Shmuptopia oh I could figure it out if I felt like putting the time in, just not a 1:1 replacement. The 8 face buttons are plenty for my arcade games, so the other stuff will only bother me if I think about it ha. I'd love to see what you think of a Korean lever!
Thanks for the video! One question, is the Mayflash f700 useable while playing on Playstation remote play? I really want to buy one, but im pretty sure it wont work via playstation remote play..
That's something I'm unsure of, but perhaps someone else will have some useful input. Thanks for checking this out!
@@Shmuptopia Nobody has the answere haha! Im pretty sure that it wont work. Why? You can only connect the Mayflash f700 to the Playstation 5 via bluetooth with a dongle. It will not work without the dongle. It does, but the bluetooth function wont work.
Lets say I pair the Mayflash f700 with my tablet, it will work perfectly, no doubt.. But when I open my Playstation remote play app, im 99% sure the app wont recognise the arcade stick, because the dongle is not connected with my tablet, but the Playstation...

My f500 V2 Just died After 3 years, recentely switched to zangief and might have forced the stick too much. Updated firmware and opened It to check if everything was ok and couldnt find any issue.
Hey, thanks for jumping in! Yeah, I didn't see any mention of this being licensed, so I'd imagine that's a definite risk.
I wonder how fast it is compared to a hori or qanba.
It'd be worth testing that someday. I don't have a Qanba but the results would be interesting to see.
I have a couple of questions if that's ok
I was thinking about getting the F700 but alot of pepole i talked to told me that it's worth to get the F500 because of the sanwa buttons and all that, and i just wanted to know if all the changes matter that much, or if i should wait to see if a F700 Elite comes out.
Also i noticed you said the stick is wireless but you can still connect it to you're computer correct?
And since this is something im going to use alot i wouldn't mind using a bit more money to get something better so pelase do tell if you have any reccomendations! (For PC)
Sorry for all the questions or if i ask something you covered in the video but these are some questions taht have been in my head for a while and could not find answers to anywere!
Use this page to confirm: www.mayflash.com/product/Wireless_Arcade_Stick_F700.html
The changes between the f500 and f700 may or may not matter to you depending on your preferences. If you see yourself ever wanting the convenience of wireless, then the f700 is your option out of the f500, f500 Elite, and f700. Glad you enjoyed the video and please let me know if you need anything else from me! All the best with your choice.
Oh that's great to know! And yea i could mod it if needed but since it's not something im that confrtable with (for now) i feel like it's better to pay it safe and start modding when im a bit more experienced or have some money to spare haha
Then i probably might buy the F500 Elite unless there is some "big upgrade" from that one to the F700 wich if i understood from you're reply the biggest change is mainly it being wireless, and of course the sanwa components on the F500 Elite but i have never tried they're stuff to know if it's worth getting´, and the price isn't a worry, i mean 200 euros or less is ideal but i don't mind using a bit more if it's really worth it
For a bit of context i do have an hitbox but it's leverless and i would like to try one with a lever!
I said that because some people told me that I could buy the F500 and change the buttons, which I thought could be called 'modding.'
But feel free to point out any mods you think are good, and I'll search them up!
Thank you so much and i hope you have a great night!)
Edit: Just got some news saying that the F700 elite will launch in may!
The F300 and F500 have bad input lag compared to other sticks. I wonder how this performs there.
One viewer said that they asked Mayflash and their response was 1ms. I believe that’s right up there with Brook, so Mayflash either improved things or their response was not accurate.
Hey there have you thought about putting a stiffer spring on the stick
It’s certainly a consideration. At the moment, I only have a 2lb and 4lb available and am in the process of using these for a future video project, so I haven’t designated them for elsewhere. This would totally change the situation, though.
It would make for a good follow up vid

There's a 5 pin connecter just below the the other cables.
