This has always been his style, it takes someone very skilled to unlock him and it rarely happens ever. Burna is difficult to interview and that is because he is not a talker and answers very direct like a nigerian (I am one) and I know how we can be sometimes which can come out as arrogance but really Burna is just not very good at engaging in interviews. The trevor noah show was an exception and even at that it was still a bit difficult. I think burna should learn interpersonal skills a bit for interviews. You can be direct but also engage otherwise it makes things awkward. He is a phenomenal singer & Performer but not good in interviews. Not everyone can have everything, so its cool.

On the one hand that’s exactly what you love about him and on the other hand you blame him for being just the way he is. This seems kinda weird to me. She's just rattling off prearranged questions instead of listening and asking intelligent questions based on what he has said. Like who responds "Totally" to such a long answer and then just moves on to the next question? (9:24) I think that's the major difference between this interview and the one with Trevor Noah. Trevor managed to let the conversation flow naturally whilst occasionally bringing it back to the important questions that needed to be asked, all without seeming pressed for time even though the entire interview was less than 15 mins. Even the timing of the way she introduced him was off. The energy overall seemed pretty low. Well, it did say she was a staff writer at Billboard so I'm guessing this is way outside her experience.

It appears that he may have been a bit nervous because it is supposed to be like a panel discussion, so he was trying to be formal. It made for a stiff interview. With Trevor Noah, they're already friends, so he's a bit more open once Trevor asks a question, he gives long fun answers.

Study your guests personalities and their conversation style and apply that to your interview, you'll not just keep the guest engaged but the audience. Not everyone is a Sean Evans and not every show is like his, but one thing people can copy is how diligently he studies his guest and ask things that haven't been overly asked if not any at all.

It's her introduction that turned him off. And she was asking him questions that you'd ask someone that's just started his career. She should have asked him questions that'll make him talk about what inspires his music and all of that because Burna's music is about struggle and life. Not "Omy gawwd how did you feel when Ye made you popular?" She lost it from the way she introduced him. Don't belittle something you can never achieve.
I believe lack of crowd participation dampened the energy in the whole set...poor management. Also, the interview formal was interrogation not conversational...it did not give him room to self-express

Love Burna but he clearly doesn’t like interviews. Very few where he engages and answer’s questions expressively. Interviewer did well to keep this going.. 😂
Burna was stressful in this interview. If she didn't hold her own, he would've shaken her confidence.
It's her introduction that turned him off. And she was asking him questions that you'd ask someone that's just started his career. She should have asked him questions that'll make him talk about what inspires his music and all of that because Burna's music is about struggle and life. Not "Omy gawwd how did you feel when Ye made you popular?" She lost it from the way she introduced him. Don't belittle something you can never achieve.
I believe lack of crowd participation dampened the energy in the whole set...poor management. Also, the interview formal was interrogation not conversational...it did not give him room to self-express
