Just got mine today and love the cost and very good dupe to the Babycat. Wore it and people keep remarking how beautiful it smells. It's 15 degrees outside and it still wears just right with 2- 3 sprays after shower for hours. Love-Love-Love it.
I'm glad you were able to get your hands on a bottle. I'm noticing that this too is also selling out online and some people having trouble finding a bottle. It's probably good to get a couple of bottles on reserve at this point...lol.
I have no idea what Babycat is supposed to smell like, but Rifaaqat is straight up leather with vanilla. It’s just so cozy and yummy to my nose. Frenetic Delicieuse is another Middle Eastern fragrance I like that almost has the same vibe.
Interesting, I don't just get leather and vanilla with Rifaaqat. I actually get more resin/vanilla, but yes definitely cozy vibes. Frenetic Delicieuse I haven't tried, but with be added to my long last of things to smell lol. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I feel you! If there were a fragrance to have multiple bottles of at once, I think it would be Rifaaqat! Thanks for the Paris Corner scent recommendation. Truth be told I haven't gotten my nose on the Montale O.G. just yet...hopefully in the future I will. Thanks for watching ☺
Has your Rifaaqat performance improved over time? After My first wearing (5 sprays), I’m experiencing 4-6 hours longevity with 1.5-2 hours of projection
I feel like it got a little better with time, but I wasn't disappointed with it's performance at all during my first few wears either. At the present moment I am literally down to my last, maybe, 10 ml in my bottle...and I'm sad about it. Let it sit for a bit and maybe come back to it in a month or so. Hope that helps. ☺
I bought this fragrance about 3 months ago and in has changed a lot! The vanilla is waaay more prominent, and the black pepper is not as sharp as it was in the beginning. It's spring time now, so it's going to sit until fall/winter and I do believe it is going to be even better. I have no option to try Babycat where I live, so I'm bumbed about that, but as a stand alone fragrance, Rifaaquat is really amazing.
I beleive the leather note is there but not listed. The initial spray of what smells like leather or suede is almost burnt but after 5 minutes it calms down. It is delicious and I love it!
I got this for my partner for Christmas… blind buy, I heard about Babycat (is it bad that the name drew me to it 😂… I now call myself Babycat 😻). We smelled it together for the first time in Christmas Day and I really love it. I’m going to get me a bottle!
Hi again, thanks and I heard that Lattafa Maharjan Gold is also a dupe, but after Nebras disappointment I could not bring myself to order another Lattafa
Hmmm, I haven't heard about Lattafa Maharjan Gold before..thanks for the mention. In regards to Nebras, I think it's a just a fragrance that needs time to sit in order for it to really pop. Give it a little time.
sooooooo my bottle arrived sis, it's legit. I don't know what I was expecting but it surprised me totally surprised. I don't know why I was shocked with the blast of spices. Ok is it good YES! Will I pick this over tuxedo or suits , mmm no, BUT that's just my preference however the vanilla is beautiful the dry down on skin is lovely. Your review was on point! I also feel like I have become a frag snoob lol I want everything to blow me away like Side effect by Initio. HOWEVER I will leave it to mature / macerate . this was worth the money . thank you again.
I emaied YSL Corporate and they said Babycat is discontinued in the USA. Not sure what that's about...but I think it must have to do with some sort of litigation. I mean...why would you "kill your goose that's laying golden eggs", right? Finding some place that sells Rifaaqat isn't much easier. Neither Jomashop or Maxaroma do.
I own Babycat and Rifaaqat, and agree with her review. I paid $50 Cdn. for an 80 ml.bottle of Rifaaqat and 200 Euro ($295 Cdn.) for 75 mls. of Babycat in Portugal, so the former is the better buy by a factor of more than six to one. . I would also mention that the performance of Rifaaqat leaves something to be desired. If Paris Corner could improve the projection and sillage of this otherwise exemplary product, I would pay double the price with glee. I've heard of some people layering these scents to derive more mileage from their Babycat. Dominic Ropion's Babycat is a masterpiece. It is sad indeed that it is so hard to find and so very pricey.
Yes, love them both but Babycat has a certain something on Rifaaqat, and is a little less sweet in my opinion. These two are my favorite vanillas! Thanks for watching and sharing! ☺
@@nor690 The projection and sillage works fine for me with Rifaqaat BUT if we are comparing it to Babycat...Babycat has the better projection and sillage in my opinion. Hope that was helpful 🙂
Ok, ok. I bought a sample y'all and it's a journey: My package came in the mail, I skipped in the house, tore that bad boy open: *spray, spray*😯...🤔...😮. I.... just dont know. Now, I haven't tried Babycat. But, Rifaaqat is a bitter, incensy, vanilla. This is not for cupcakey, sugar-sweet vanilla scent types. You will find this is a vanilla cupcake bakery filled with strong incense burning in metal trays. BUT I cant stop smelling it! It is refined, grown up and mysterious. Now, would I layer with Vanilla 28 to round out the edges for easier eveyday wear? Yes. Even better for layering: Indult Tihota. A deeper vanilla. The seller was kind enough to include a sample of that with the Rifaaqat and I SEE what she did there. Last one ive been thinking of is to pair with BDK Nuit de Sable. Another incensy fragrance that leans way sweeter but gives similar vibes. I'm not mad at Rifaaqat at all! Very interesting and glad I'm trying it out!
Thank you for the suggestions. I heard Suits was a good dupe for YSL Tuxedo but truth be told, I haven't smelled the original yet. Definitely will get my nose on it in the future. Thanks for watching. ☺
I’ve just sold my 125ml bottle of Babycat that I’ve used maybe 5-6 times, and blind ordered Rifaaqat. The extra money will go towards La Capitale. Win-win. And no regrets.
Can I ask you why you sold it ?! My favorite fregrance and will be always in my collection is La capitale, it took my heart from first sniff that I had to get a backup bottle, I am planning to get Babycat but still can’t decide, the good side is that I will pay only 230$ for the 125ml it’s still too much money if I wouldn’t like it 😐
I would say that $230 for a blind buy might be too much, but at the end of the day that's for you to decide. $230 for a 125ml Babycat to me is worth it, but that's because I love the fragrance. If you are truly unsure, try Rifaaqat. Hope that helps.
I got my bottle from the perfume box online, but they are currently sold out at the moment. Check Frag Bar, they may still have some in stock. It seems like it's selling out at most place I've seen online though. I hope that helps.
this is proof you don't need a big brand to create a masterpiece with a ridiculous price and people try to act, okay :) maybe they use better quality oil, come on you really can detect that quality honestly LOL.
Sometimes, truth be told, you really can detect the quality difference and that's for sure. In this case with Rifaaqat the quality difference isn't by much, but in my opinion Babycat still edges out Rifaaqat...not necessarily by leaps and bounds, but it's still ahead. Hope that helps. ☺
Well I can't speak for ladies in general, but I don't see why not. I would definitely compliment a dude wearing Rifaaqat or Babycat. I've also received compliments wearing this myself. Hope that helps.
Did you give it away because it wasn't a closer enough clone for you or because in general the scent wasn't doing it for ya? Someone recently mentioned that they thought Nayel Queen was a better clone, however I can't speak on it as I have never tried it myself.
Rifaaqat made me nauseous, too much pepper and incense, and this coming from someone who doesn't mind smelling like church, but this perfume was just too harsh and "dry". Huge dislike.
Oh nooooo, I'm sorry it didn't agree with you. I too like smelling like church...lol...but I LOVED this. But at least you know that YSL's Babycat probably wouldn't be your vibe either...and you didn't have to spend tons to discover that. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

At a point Babycat smells like it has Coffee too. Which is due to the combination of Amber & Vanilla.
