Thanks for sharing this great video. Well done. I used to live in Abbotsford before I got into birding. I used to walk along Hen and Chicken Bay oblivious to all this beauty 🤦♂️ Could you please share what camera and lenses you shot the video with. I’m just getting into video and trying to learn. Thanks again. Cheers Frank.
Thank you. On first glance there is not much variety to see there, but then the more you look the more you see! I hope that is reflected in my video. I definitely don’t use beginner gear, and the quality of the film shows. Nikon z9 with a 400mm 2.8 with built in TC.
@@RogersBirdingHotspots Thanks you very much for your reply. I thought the gear was pretty good and you were using a lens with a low fStop. The bokeh is amazing. I shoot with a Canon R5 and a 100-500 lens. It’s great for stills which I have primarily focused on with my bird photography, and it’s good for videos too apparently, but I’m a total novice with video. I assume that you were using a tripod for these videos as the panning was very smooth. Thanks again, cheers Frank. PS:- I just followed you on Insta. Very impressive collection you have there.
@@frankpinto1050 a great combo, especially for photos. The Nikon has amazing image stabilisation so I rarely use a tripod, mostly handheld. Unless I am down on the sand or mud then I use a ground pod to get real low. Following you too now, have fun taking photos! One time I’m coming up to qld to make a video, would love to do The Gold Coast hinterland some time
Wonderful footage!! So smooth & beautiful. Gorgeous breeding plumage colour of the Godwit. Amazing they travel so far! Do you get that close to your subjects or do you crop the video later? Just so nice!! ~ Karen
Thank you so much Karen. I don’t get too close, especially the godwits they are quite wary of people and there is no where to hide out there! The camera / lens combo I use can do significant zoom, up to 1200mm at 4k for video, so I can stay a fair way back. There is a little cropping too.
@@RogersBirdingHotspots wow! brilliant! we've just bought a new camera kit but sadly can't quite afford the high end market just yet. Your videography is superb!
Great video Roger! You were lucky to see them in breeding plumage. I went there on Sunday but only saw one in non-breeding plumage. Do you know if they're still there? Also what editing software do you use (sorry for all the questions)
Thank you. Yes I was there on Saturday morning too, there was only the one. I’d say with the weather change last week they have all headed back up north. Need to wait until next year. I use Final Cut Pro on a Mac.
Wonderful video as always Roger! The pied stilt footage was the standout for me, so great.
Many thanks!
Good stuff MrRoger☺️👍
Thank you
Great footage, glad to see you're putting that epic lens to work!
Thank you. It is a brilliant lens and I can’t put it down !
Love watching your video, mate! Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to comment
Absolutly amazing footage and photos. How good is that background separation
Thank you! Good background separation really makes the birds pop off the screen!
@@RogersBirdingHotspots just wondering do I go to Halliday Park? - what's best spot
@@robdidoyes start at Halliday park then walk north
Brilliant video. 👏
Thank you
Another great video Roger.
Thanks Mum!
