    I have the LG, it's been a great monitor so far and the colors are great. I still would like to try the G7 but I see so many people reporting issues, and I've even had a couple people tell me to stay away from it...on paper it's a monitor that ticks all the boxes.

    • @DisplayReality

      Many do have issues like scanlines or gsync not working. Many firmware updates have been made as there is a VRR menu option that to me eliminates any flickering or stutter. Many also say micro stutter but I have not experienced that at all. I am happy it's one of my in the top 3 monitor.

      VA panel tend to get blurry than IPS in fast motion but if we doesnt compare it actually it not that worst, still a beautiful screen. Samsung calibration. Compared my g5 144hz & 27gl850 165hz. When i set both to 144hz, VA panel yes tend to be more blurry. But i prefer g5 to watch movie due to some LG light bleeding

    I've tried both. If just gaming I would go with LG (clear & vivid image, beautiful color), but if both gaming & working with Office, watching movie I see Samsung Odyssey more versatile since the color is more realistic to me and text looks sharper, LG has nice color but somehow too much vivid. Just my point of view, you guys would have different look

    I bought a 32GP850-B a few days ago, but decided to send it back for a refund.
    Maybe I'm just very unlucky with the monitor lottery, but my unit was utter garbage.
    - If I didn't set the brightness to 100, then the screen was very dark
    - If the scene was even a little darker, everything looked washed out.
    - Even the colors looked weak, but if I increased the saturation a little, then even the white looked grey.
    - And the elephant in the room was the IPS glow. Even in a well lit room the glow in the bottom right corner was clearly visible.
    If the UI of the game was a little darker near the bottom of the screen, then a giant glow was drawing my eyes toward it.
    Since most reviews praise the monitor, I'm hoping that I just had terrible luck with my unit and it's not a widespread thing with this monitor.
    Now I'm thinking of buying a G7, but I'm afraid of the curve. (Never used a curved display)

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 года назад

      Check out the G7 28" as I hope the local dimming works as good as the m28u. But I have a nice LG32GP850 panel. True that lower brightness may wash out the picture. Maybe try the 27" version?

    • @Art0r1a
      @Art0r1a 3 года назад +1

      @Andresito LT1 Yeah... I heard everywhere that I should buy a high-end monitor to avoid these things, but it seems no matter the price, the lottery is always there.

    • @Art0r1a
      @Art0r1a 3 года назад +1

      @@DisplayReality Those are 4K monitors and I'd rather avoid them.
      I have a 4K OLED for movies or 4K games... I use my monitor for programming and certain games. (With lots of static elements)
      So a 32" 1440p would be ideal for me. And I use dark mode in almost everything, that's why the IPS glow was very obvious.
      I probably won the monitor lottery with my Asus VG248QZ TN panel, because it barely has backlight bleeding, the colors are pretty good and even the contrast is decent. (Better than it was with the LG)
      Dang... choosing a good monitor is really hard these days.
      Ps: BTW I love your videos... keep up the good work.

      My case was different, the LG Ultragear 27GP850 that I've tried has very nice vivid color & brightness, playing CSGO on it I always has better ranking compared to playing on Odyseey. The only cons that I see from LG Ultragear 27GP850 are viewing angle quite small, not like what people say about IPS panel (might be just my case?) and color sometimes too much vivid to watch movie or photos

The LG one has a sustained brightness of around 412 in SDR and 429 cd/m2 in HDR, while the Samsung ranges from 324 to 540 cd/m2 depending on the amount of bright object displayed on the screen, so technically the G7 will be brighter if you don't have the full screen filled with pure white or the sun

Also the LG goes in between 402 to 429 hardware unboxed . So panels vary by a few nits or can vary. I'm confident with my numbers. SDR Sustained. The G7 Local Dimming on can hit 550nits in certain situations in sdr from previous tests. But Il soon start including my panel numbers once I set up properly.

    Samsung build quality is garbage , the whole line - up from G5 to G9 is prone to dead pixels , high temps , bad stand , fluckering g - sync. After using the G7 twice and having it send back two times in a row i am convinced it is shit so i bought a LG and did not have a issue since.

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 года назад

      The LG27GP850 is a bit brighter according to hardware unboxed. Plus at 27 inchs it would look sharper. Tho on the G7 I needed a 32 because 1000r curve at 27 inchs would look weird. I have seen a couple of reviews saying the same. They wished they got a 32 for the steep of a curve. It really depends on what you need.
