    Thats cool timing. Im wearing the diy kit 4mm version they sell right now, and I only made them a couple weeks ago, just enough for a decent impression to form. Ive also owned a genesis pair that I accidentally messed up trying to give the diy treatment to. Overall they are relatively similar, but there's more than enough difference in how they wear I like my diy pair quite well so far, (especially the sole thickess) but the nylon laces definitely arent as nice feeling or adjustable as the paracord setup on the genesis. Im gonna buy some paracord and turn these into something in between, stretchy but still not super adjustable.
    My overall impression is that most folks are gonna prefer the genesis for the comfort and adjustability with what is still a pretty thin sole.
    One big caveat is that these, like all the other xero shoes Ive tried, are still pretty narrow in the toebox if you have very wide feet like me. In that case, no matter what option you go with, I'd recommend sizing up and then trimming some off the ends if you're getting toe flop. Its pretty easy to do if you don't get overeager like me and only trim a bit at a time.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  Год назад +1

      Good to know, and a bit of a bummer that the DIY kit uses different cords, since I like the Genesis ones so much. Guess you need to DIY the DIY, ha! (:

    • @kbuzbee
      @kbuzbee Год назад

      Agreed. I tried the Prios. Too narrow for my size 15s. Lems Primal Zens are a bit wider but much thicker soles. With the Genesis, my feet actually hang off the footbed, a bit, but they are super comfortable.

    😎 I love my many pairs of Genesis sandals also. I wish the laces came in more colors like they used to. I get so many people that notice them and ask where I got them. They are very durable and will last for years.
    Get a spray bottle of Awesome cleaner at the Dollar Store and a scrubbing brush. This is how I clean the bottoms, and it works great. Rinse with water and air dry.
    I wish Xero Shoes made another option sandal that were earth grounded. Having an electrical earth ground connection is a great feeling. 👣 👍
    🔹️Have a great spring season.

      hi. I just came back from a easy walk with the genesis and i was so happy, to get out of them! don't the straps cut into your flesh of the feet? i didn't find any solution so that they stay attached to the feet without hurting somewhere, also , when they are not tight enough the toes move towards the end, and then the round button underneath starts being very unconfortable.... :-(.....any suggestions? I really have tried more than an hour to ajust them.....

    • @rubencohen2936
      @rubencohen2936 Год назад +1

      @melissaglueckskind Mine are so comfortable I hardly know they're on. Maybe you need more time to transition into barefoot / minimalist shoes and sandals. It takes time to adjust to the way we were intended to walk. If you are used to conventional shoes, it takes time for your feet and leg muscles to build up.
      Try walking completely barefoot inside your home as much as possible. It will strengthen your feet. The Genesis sandals are my favorite next to totally nothing. I'm wearing a pair today painting the outside of a house. 😎 👣

      @@AndrewFolts Well, I recently got back from 63 miles in the Sierra Nevadas, including Mount Whitney. The Xero Genesii got worn a couple times, didn't need them for water (plenty of rocks and trees for crossing) but did wear them at camp. Only downside I found was that since there's no sidewall, rocks and sand got under my feet and toes pretty easily, to compensate I found myself walking with more of an upright stomping motion than heel-toe. I also found them a bit difficult to adjust, never really got a perfect fit where my fee are both properly centered and the sandal feels balanced and snug. This may well be a function of my foot shape, and others will have better luck, and I'll continue to fiddle with the adjustments. Overall not sure they are worth what I paid for them, but perhaps they will grow on me and I'll find other use cases like strolling around at the beach. They are pretty light for how durable they seem, and they are so thin, they pack really easily.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  9 дней назад

      @@silvermediastudio Yea, it's always going to be hard to get a perfect fit with minimal cord straps like that. I've been using the Toetem Alpha's ruclips.net/video/bU1cweEMjVA/видео.html nonstop this year, and they aren't as good for water as the Genesis, but everything else is killer, from the soft straps to the security, tough Vibram tread, and ease of taking them on/off. Def my all time favorites.

      @Andrew Folts yep definitely the warmest barefoot boot out there. My vivos were way too cold even with the thermal insole. But yea I see your point on wanting to have the least amount of cushioning possible. I love my Xeros but when I go for a hike or I'm helping my kids at the motocross track, the Vivos have incredible sensory feedback to the dirt. But I guess the sandal from Xero that you reviewed has a thinner sole.

      Oh cool, they look great with the thin sole and wide toebox! I'll mention them to anyone looking for MX shipping. Do the leather straps rub? I had a DIY leather huarache once and it left a scar on my foot, but could have been because the straps were too narrow.

      The leather straps do rub the feet but not as much as you'd think. In any case, you can easily replace them with nylon laces or shoe laces and they won't rub. That's actually how I use my huaraches and, if you lace them correctly, they won't hurt a bit.

    Hi! I’ve been wondering if you could give me an opinion on what would you recommend for me. I’ve been barefoot and minimalist shoes for almost a year and have been looking for a Birkenstock replacement. I got on a sale the aqua clouds from Xero shoes but not good for socks in winter and the toe thong is not my favorite. Then one day the z-treks came in sale and got them. The do fit quite nice and are good for winter and summer but not as free as the clouds. The z-treks are more comfortable barefoot. The toe thong is not the best but I love the freedom of my foot in the clouds. The z-trek is so versatile and comfortable but I feel a little trapped and they do feel hotter in warmer days. I’m so torn on what to use. Can you guide me here in n your experience since you’ve been using both types and what do you prefer now? I don’t do sports. This is house, street, playground, pool, store kinda stuff. My Birkenstock was the only shoe I would wear for almost all year. Thank you. 🙏
