- Today we call upon the prowess that be, in order to be able to solve a painting, to find a way out! I had to channel my, by now unavoidable (best painter alive) Ruprecht von Kaufmann and making a comeback from yesterday Jacek Malczewski. When we're lost, huge painters like them can be our guiding light. This doesn't mean that we have to end up painting like them, but they can provide us with the necessary boost to keep going. Celebrate the artists you admire!
Thank you ALL for your incredible support. Dani and I could not be more grateful. If you like what we're doing, please consider donating :) If you're in a rough spot, no worries, we TOTALLY get it! Just know that our content will ALWAYS be here, and our only sponsors are YOU, the wonderful generous people that choose to support us in some way or another. Thank you ALL!!!

I hope the fact that you are the one who inspires will make your day better and bring back the desire taking a shower
“ I don’t really see painting as a showcase, I don’t see painting as an opportunity to show off...I just see it as a place of learning.” (4:30) ❤️❤️❤️
Really like this work! It reminds me of Wyspiański's portraits of his children
Thank you for reminding us that it doesn't matter if we are as cool as they are, as long as we are on our own journey, so important
after 43 weeks of paintings/videos i never would have imagined a jojo reference
I bought a set of gouache paints a year ago, used them once and then my frustration sent them back into the box... but after this week they may come out again and I'll give them another shot. You have inspired me to suffer as well lol!
I loved this conversation in particular. It was so inspiring and your description of the misunderstood struggle with materials (or the delusion that there is something wrong in the tools we use) really resonated with me. I am so glad you're sharing honest thoughts about your process - thank you!
You might be hating this week, but it's making for good watching!
Great great great
hahahahaha, sorry I just love the "sandwich" part
Quedó fantástico!! After this you deserve a whole week of muddy grays. The ZERO saturation week. Thank you D&N ❤️
Oh, oh! Watercolor week incoming!
Thanks for discussing the human dimensions of painting - from "picking" at the details and h oping for that "Giant" solution, to the "Why Bother" feeling. I laugh in empathy.
I really liked the fact that your hands today were the same value as the face - so the hands didn't diminish the face presence - but added to it. Von Kaufmann certainly has that BIG IDEA by simplifying shapes and values.
You made it man! Let’s be like diamonds, and we all know that diamond is unbreakable 🤣 thanks for the inspiration , and artists references, and jojo jokes!!
Would love to see you tackle watercolour for one week ;)
You seem to be using gouache correctly to me! It’s really versatile so there isn’t actually a ‘right’ way unless the material doesn’t let you paint at all, which clearly isn’t the case here 😊
Do you work from photo reference or have you just painted them enough to know their features?
Me encantan tus trabajos, tienes los pinceles mágicos haces unas maravillas increíbles.
Wow😍amazing 😍 i respect and support you 😍👍💕
💜
Loved that jojo’s reference🤩🤩🤩
ZA WARUDO!!!!
Our Painted Lives 🤩🤩🤩 kono Dioooo da!!! The best vilain in the history of anime. Soo happy you a jojo fan
My lost in translation today. Making a painting of my desk brother to gifted to my mother. No finding the way in or out. So I need a Ruprecht or any sandwich right now..
Did you ever meet ruprecht? He is such a real life kind and humble sandwich.
Yet another wonderful portrait. Actually i like the intense colors of those jelly gouache paints. They seem ideal for illustration work & maybe lively cityscapes. I'm looking on amazon, but the colors are arranged differently to your set. Thanks to your masterclass videos, i'm itching to paint again after many years. BTW i have some very expensive kolinsky sable brushes. Can anyone tell me if they would be damaged by gouache. Thanks.
The pigments are ground a bit coarser than watercolor which makes gouache gritty and may wear those brush points down. I wouldn't risk my most expensive brushes. At the very least, clean them well after using.
I love this... you don't give yourself enough credit. I really think when we step out of our comfort zone, as nerve-wracking as it can be, we can grow as painters without immediately being aware of it. Of course your experience might be different from mine.
Either way we got a Jojo`s Bizarre Adventure reference out it... cool
That mouth... 🥰
Hi Nicolas, Thanks for the video, great as usual.
Is there a particular reason why yo do not cover the hole page in your lightest color and then continue from there with your darkest darks......?
jajajaja I don't know, it's my bad oil instincts not understanding that the color is going to dry and thinking that the color underneath is going to affect the color on top lol!
Hola, Nicolás, hay alguna alternativa al gesso para aplicar sobre el papel antes de pintar con óleos?
not sure if this gets edited out, but do you apply a fixative to the drawing before you go in with paint?
Its Good 😍😍
I am Also an artist , stay connected.....
DIO liked ur jojo reference
