I appreciate your stance on Lucifer. I've seen more than a handful of reactors fall so in love with Mark/Mark's portrayal of Lucifer, that they kinda can't help but root for him. IDK if it's just how much I love Sam, but I can't look at Lucifer without wanting to puke. They already did the "there's two sides to this story" more than once with him, and every time it gets a little more heavy-handed I get a little more furious. I wasn't buying it the first, second, third time, and I'm not starting now.
It was such a stab to the heart for me that they brought Gabriel back just to sacrifice him again a few episodes later. It was so pointless and wasted so much of his potential.
I loathe that they brought Gabriel back just to mishandle his story and kill him off *again*. Thank goodness the Lucifer redemption they were playing with was short lived.
It’s not changing him to be good and he won’t get a full redemption. You are right, Lucifer is a master manipulator. He only wants to be in his sons life because of the power he holds. Remember what Crowley tried to do with Amara? Imagine if Lucifer WAS able to convince Jack to help him rule the world? Lucifer might feel a degree of care and pull towards Jack but it’s not unconditional love at all. Lucifer cannot change-actually, no, he CAN change he just won’t, because pride and pettiness is more important. Complete control of everyone around him is the only thing that makes him feel powerful. Right now? He’s already gotten his hooks in Jack and the kid is considering hearing him out. Lucifer may not be intimidating, but his influence on a child who hasn’t had much life experience yet, Jack being SO impressionable, it’s very dangerous and scary. Jack is supposedly more powerful than Lucifer. A kid who’s gone to the dark side, one that will help Lucifer get exactly what he wants would be disastrous.
So the big confrontation the season has been building to with Sam & Lucifer is the equivalent to a playground fight of pushing someone then running away?
I think the best thing about Apocalypse world was that it proved to Sam&Dean that it was the right thing for them to be born. I’m reminded of season 5 when the brothers tried to keep themselves from being born and given the bad luck they’ve had this brings some kind of closure on that
I don't like this episode all that much. iirc it's a buckleming episode and eugenie ross-leming always had a b0ner for lucifer and mark p. no one else had and so it's always the buckleming episodes that feel like they desperately want to redeem him. which i hate btw. i also wasn't much of a fan of apocalypse world!Cas. He was supposed to be the continued victim of Naomi's resets, which made him go full bad guy and have the tic - but the german accent and the n*zi-looking uniform are way too much in my opinion (also bc I am german and the constant stereotyping in BAD executions like this is tiring, somehow. idk.) oh yeah, and they killed gabriel. hated that as well. charlie and bobby are my favourite thing of this episode, especially the scene where dean is "complaining" that Bobby doesn't live in Sioux Falls. i am looking forward to season 14 though, which I really liked except some small things and maybe 2 or 3 episodes.
So the with the scene with Jack, Sam and Lucifer the writers were clearly going for Jack being torn between his biological father and the one that raised him, but it doesn’t work because Mary fits that more than Sam. At the start yeah Sam did have a fatherly bond forming with Jack but he left to soon for it truly develop and Mary has filled the role of parent figure better in Jack’s life (pretty sure she’s spent more time with him since she’s been back then her actual sons). It’s a shame because I really wanted to see Sam in father’s role
This has the most underwhelming cliffhanger in the show. I have no reason to care or be intimidated by Lucifer or Michael. This whole season Lucifer has only survived by the writers making our heroes stupid and by dumb luck, at this point he’s just annoying. As for Michael he has no personal history with the brothers and has barley made an impression this season, plus him agreeing to work with Lucifer proves he’s an idiot. Yes their both powerful but one has no personality or charisma and the other has long since worn out his welcome
