    After several years in the hobby, this is my first time encountering mites in the T's enclosures. Thankfully, these aren't predatory mites and only a few enclosures had them. Can you imagine if the entire collection got infested??? My advice to you; please check on your spiders and their enclosures periodically, as like I mentioned, anything can happen in a blink of an eye. Scary stuff !

    I saw some seriously bad mite infestations at my local pet store and when I told them about it, I got banned from the shop...

      Yeah, I just feel really sad for the T`s (most were labeled wrong also). And you would be surprised at what is allowed here in South Africa :(

      Yeah!! You noticed that too! I asked him what the difference was between using a brush or a straw or hands. "He" has made it really clear to NEVER EVER HOLD THEM OR TAKE THEM OUT OF THEIR ENCLOSURES.. I'm curious. I also told him that I...Susan the Arachnidphobe Martin is considering starting a T collection herself. And when I say "considering " I mean thinking about the thinking about considering buying a beautiful Cobalt tarantula...they are so pretty I just love the one he has. I'm afraid of typical house or garden spiders. They scare the crap out of me...however...Tarantulas are so pretty and some of them are so cute and fluffy. They don't look like spiders but rather a fluffy lil blue hamster. My first spider in my "collection has to be that gorgeous hilariously cute Peacock jumping spider. Watching those videos that funny dude puts out the "the real story about...."
      Ok enough from me. Thanks to ya'll for helping me get past my fear without even knowing how much you have help me.

      hey can anyone educate me on a question I have? I've been watching a lot of Dark Den and Exotics Lair vids, and in a few Dark Den videos there are images or mentions of springtail insects populating some of his enclosures. Petko (or whatever the Dark Den gent's name is), assures people that the springtails have a somewhat symbiotic relationship with the T, or the enclosures themselves. What's the difference between a springtail and a mite, and what makes Exotics Lair sure that those tiny things are mites? They look the same to me. thank you in advance!

    You're keeping containers and habitats too moist, it helps mites breed. Tarantulas do good in dry heat as long as they have clean waterdish , i had a huge mite problem with my spiders and switch to dry coco fiber, the mites were gone in a month or so. i love ur vids and spider bbs ,keep up good work

    • @honeybit7395
      @honeybit7395 6 лет назад +9

      If you heard of Ants Canada and watched his mites video, he had mites on his ants.
      1. He fed the ants lemon so that the mites might go away.
      2. He re-housed the ants into a new place .

    • @paigehc6659
      @paigehc6659 6 лет назад +4

      SilentJammer ants are different from T's, T's only eat meat, they wouldn't eat a lemon.

    • @honeybit7395
      @honeybit7395 6 лет назад

      You could bathe the food in lemon juice

    • @paigehc6659
      @paigehc6659 6 лет назад +3

      SilentJammer do you even know how spiders eat? They bite their prey, giving them a poison to paralyze them, then it turns their insides to liquid and sucks the liquid out. They only bite their prey once. That most likely wouldn't be enough for it to stop mites

    • @yoursodumn
      @yoursodumn 6 лет назад +6

      Dragon Legend that's not correct. T's have two stomachs. They subdue their prey, usually avoiding envenomation if possible. They masticate the prey item with their fangs while their pumping stomach regurgitates digestive enzymes onto the prey item to break it down. Then, the spider slurps up whatever gets liquefied. This is why the bolus of a tarantula meal looks very different from, say, that of an assassin bug. Assassin bugs insert their proboscis into the prey, envenomation occurs and then they suck out the insides, leaving a drained husk.
      TL;DR I don't know if the lemon thing would work with spiders but they would certainly end up ingesting it.

    Hey, i like your videos and i know i'm one of the million who says, they fear of spiders are smaller because of watching your videos, but really man, your voice is so calming and it's fun when you speak with your T's. So i was wondering, what if you do a slow motion-best attack compilation in the feeding video's end and put some epic music under it. I don't know, i would just love to see a try from it, i bet it looks cool :D

    Like Les Bean, your videos have substantially helped me push through my arachnophobia. It's very hard to be afraid of such beautiful Ts or lil cute slings. I'm sure a lot of it is how you present yourself to the audience and how you talk with your Ts. Thanks.

    I try to get over my fear of spiders. Of course i can't really do that by simply watching them but i hope it'll help me a little (i have a plan to at least not be afraid if there's a spider in my room and not smack it with a book but take it and put outside) and watching your videos helps me a lot. I actually noticed how cool and pretty they are. I never though that i would want to pet a spider but i'm glad i'm overcomeing my fear little by little. Great videos!

    I have a lot of small (0.3 mm) booklice in my T tanks....I think they come from the superworm containers as they seem to be more prominent in those containers than the T's...Not sure how to get rid of them yet...I'm going to start by moving the superworms to a different area as I keep them next to my T's at the mo...Ventilation is suppose to be a good way to stop them so I'll try that first...Good vid...thank you
