Clearly you shoot into the footwell, being sure the round glances off the airbag casing, activating the bag from the shock. Hence no hole in the bag. Simple when you're a fictional character and the director has a sense of humour.
@@nbk9372 The sensors determining if the car's got hit aren't in the steering coloumn, but in the front and side of the car. Shooting at the steering wheel maybe damages the airbag or gets the pressure cartridge to explode, but it most likely won't make the airbag deploy. Furthermore, if you get t-boned (if i understand that term correctly) means someone hits you from the side, and in that case a sensor in the steering wheel wouldn't help either. You hit the door, not the wheel in that case.
@@nirfz Cars usually have sensors in the dash and if the dashboard gets hit anywhere by a standard bullet that is setting it off. It doesn't matter where the car is hit by another car, the airbag will go off. The change in inertia will be enough. Direct impact isn't necessary.
@@alphanerd7221 Objection. first of all: at least 2 sensors have to set off to deploy airbags to avoid them getting off by mistake. Second, they each need 3-5g to set off. Shooting the steering wheel will not make an impact of 3g for the dashboard. The steering wheel will absorb all of the shock and is not structurally held by the dashboard anyway. Even when you hit the dashboard, a bullet will most likely make a hole through the dashboard, but not impact it like if yo hit it with a sledgehammer. So even shoting the dashboard is unlikely to deploy an airbag. And lastely it does matter where your car is hit by another car: Every modern car deploys the airbags on the side you get hit. If you get t-boned from the left, the righthand window airbags won't deploy. -> The sensors in the doors will set off, as will those in the dashboard So enough sensors to make sure the airbags will deploy, and they show the direction of impact.
Because the aim of the US Marshal service is to capture fugitives and make them stand trial. This guy obviously had no idea that Raylan Givens plays by his own rules though.

I didn't notice myself but someone above said that he shot the passenger side airbag which set off the driver side and that means no hole.
