In Germany most everyone speaks English because almost everyone has to study for ten years. That's the way it is in most European countries, eastern and western. Yet you will find so many people when you go to the countries who can't speak a half dozen words in English, despite the 7-10 years of schooling, plus a final exam at the end. After the final exam, they totally f** k English off. It's mostly the younger generation, believe it or not, who is worse; older generations can speak English better than the younger. Apparently it was in a community which was already quite poor, and this was during the pandemic lockdowns, when there were very few travelers/tourists coming through and spending money, so people there were even more desperate than usual. Anyway, as far as the IQ thing goes, I think to a large extent this is overblown. Yes, it's a fact that English is the most spoken language in the world, currently. So it's a normal thing expecting most people you talk to in another country, will talk to you in English. But, if you're judging people's IQ in a country where Spanish is the native language, and you find that many people can hardly any speak English, the smartest thing you can do is taking some Spanish classes, so you can integrate yourself into the local culture. I'm from Medellín, and when I've visited some small cities and towns in the US, I'm pretty sure it'll be diffcult to meet someone who speaks Spanish, unlike cities such as Miami, NY or Los Ángeles.

There's very little poverty. You don't need to drive a car everywhere because you can just use the shinkansen. All the tap water is drinkable. Women are polite. Food is much healthier. You'll never get bored and there's always something new to do or see. There's no woke culture. Alot of people aren't normies. The family unit is intact. Children are raised with respect. And if you make US dollars or UK pounds you're all set. The one caveat is that almost noone speaks english. But if you're moving to someone else's country you shouldn't expect them to know your language anyway. You should instead be prepared to learn their language. If you just take the time to learn Japanese , everything else will be worth it...
I think this is largely do to the Flynn effect. People aren't smarter perse. IQ is just an attempt to measure intelligence that relies highly on familiarity with abstract problems. It's a good one, for sure. But you need to know who you're norming the test against. It's really not "culture-fair."
I'd guess that IQ goes up with closeness to large urban areas, as the skillset needed to do well in life changes from physical to mental. It's known how physical fitness decreases the larger the city. But that's just a guess.
I spent time in Colombia (three months), speak Spanish (so I got to know people quite well) and studied psychology (so I studied IQ and IQ testing). The average IQ is an estimate and this estimate is likely inaccurate (to what degree is the main question) and the relationship between IQ and intelligence is imperfect (it correlates with scholastic achievement, occupational success etc. and is highly heritable but does it truly capture "intelligence" or the correlated attributes of success and schooling? This is a massive area of debate). I think we should be very sceptical of any claims that estimate a country's IQ and be careful with the interpretation. Education, nutrition, familial support and culture all influence IQ, as do genetic factors. I think it's safe to say that a lack of education and poverty contributes to lower IQ (remember, IQ is best defined as your ability to do IQ tests and this is influenced by things like education, nutrition, stress etc.). So, I'd say this is likely the Flynn effect at work where the larger incidence of poverty leads to people being less able to educate themselves (whether through not attending school at all or attending school but not concentrating due to poor nutrition, stress at home, second jobs etc.). I'd also call out that some behaviours are likely cultural or better explained by situational factors. For example, the gas truck was clearly bad judgement and wouldn't happen in Australia, where I'm from. But we don't really have this level of poverty at scale, so this would look like an unexploded bomb to us and a chocolate factory to poor people for whom gas is very expensive. So, different motivations. Then, all it would take is for a few people to start before others assume it must be safe given that it is happening. Basically, herd mentality. Would better education fix this? To a degree, but desperate people do desperate things. What about racism? Racism is pretty common across the entire world and not super correlated to intelligence. I think this is a fair criticism to level at them. Chinese people are often very racist and have an estimated average IQ of 104. So, while I agree that this should be criticised, I don't think this has anything to do with IQ. Smart people hold offensive, ignorant views all over the world. I will say that I agree with your criticisms, but I wouldn't tie it to a narrative about IQ. I get that it's a nice way to tie the narrative together, but would say that it's better to say that people do highly dangerous things in Colombia at great risk to their personal safety (often resulting in their deaths) and that Colombian people can often be very racist. They are "high class" immigrants, most of them won't risk even half of what other immigrants from poorer countries will when having to migrate. They can always return to their land easily, and even being middle class, the power of the dollar will open many doors easily that wouldn't be so for others. Aaand even not having much money, for lots of women at least, the mere perception of you maybe having some (being that you're from the US) will be enough to give you what you want. They're not, in their majority, normal immigrants. I don't honestly believe some of these average IQs in different countries. The average national IQ in most of sub-Saharan Africa is 70. They might be stupid, but I don't think they are that stupid. I think there is something wrong with the IQ tests. I read the average IQ in Nepal was 50. Gurkhas are from Nepal and they are good soldiers. I don't know how clever you have to be to be a soldier, but I bet you have to have an IQ higher than 50.
Some places in Africa, they're having to go and install a pipe in the ground to get fresh water... Nobody in some of the villages knows how to do the most basic things of survival there. So, I believe it. They do know how to take it over from all the other villagers, and start charging them for water though after the volunteers who made it leave.

Rents in Medellin are too expensive for locals due to this. In places where gentrification is not a problem, foreigners are always welcome. Just take in mind that if you socialize with the wrong people, they will take advantage of you. No matter the country and IQ, and as a foreigner, your chances to meet valuable people are lower.

I have traveled all over the world for over 40 years, and it is amazing how bitter, angry and mean English speaking Western women get when they cannot handle the competition from foreign girls. Remember when it comes to testing there are certain biases that comes along with gathering data in this form factor. Hyper-focusing on this 1 measurement tool to come to a conclusion is almost always going to lead to a faulty conclusion if you are trying to actually measure something in the real world.
IQ means everything. It's why Europe (without the violent migrants) is an immensely high trust society. Quality of life and societal trust levels are directly connected. High IQ means being able to think towards the future, delaying personal gratification and seeing the bigger picture.

All the high IQ countries are politically stable ,wealthy countries. Their children go to school ,are healthy and eat well and lead 'better'(not in every way) lives and they grow up with a few extra points on their IQ. But IQ does not create wealth, wealth creates IQ. Political stability is critical.

I'm Mexican and on every chart which ranks the countries with the IQ, I've noticed Colombia falls behind Mexico. My guess is that Colombia's population varies greatly while Mexico's is more consistent across the board. I think that the Atlantic and parts of the caribbean coast bring the average down quite a bit. The afrodescendant community really bring it down. Mexico has an afrodescendant population but nowhere near as much as Colombia. Colombia's average is 82 while Mexico's average is 88. More similar to Turkey, Vietnam, and Malaysia. I think that if you measure just the white, castizo, harnizo and mestizo of Colombia, it would be as much as Mexico or higher.

Third World countries were many people are poor and do not have access to quality education cannot be compared to developed countries in terms of IQ. Even worse, within a Third World country like Colombia, people living in the countryside have lower access to education then people living in the city. So making statements like "People living in XXXX area have YYYY level of IQ" is very problematic.
Who cares its problematic if its TRUE? If these countries had higher IQ, they would be able to pull themselves out of their poor circumstances. Europe suffered horrible disease, war and famines before they conquered the world. IQ is deterministic.

Dating quality does vary significantly between different latin american countries. I've lived in Costa Rica and Mexico (currently in Mexico City). Mexico City (CDMX) has women from all over latin america. Women from Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina are fairly common. There are Russian and Asian women here too. I've dated all those nationalities. I love CDMX, the dating scene is great, sure there are some overweight, toxic, etc., but with 22 million people, there are more really hot, smart, kind, well-educated women in CDMX than you can shake a stick at. If you think there aren't an abundance of very attractive women there, something's wrong with you! CR women are noticably more influenced by feminism, and so are Argentinian and Colombian women. They are noticably more demanding and entitled, but not as bad as the USA (except Argentina, most are pretty difficult IMHO). Of course there are nice women in every country, I'm just talking generalities. Venezuelan woman are very nice overall. I've heard lots of good things about Peruvian and Brazilian women but have yet to date one. In Mexico City, you can meet a "9" or "10" and half of them are entitled, but half are still nice, decent, kind women. Do your research and learn some Spanish. Mexico City is a soft landing for latin america, try there first. They have Amazon Prime and stable, 300mb/s fiber optic internet. The weather is very temperate. You'll have 95% the convenience of a modern U.S. city. Be sure to live in a safe upscale neighborhood. I'm very happy I moved. Just be smart, prepare, get in shape, learn game, and you will have abundance with high quality women. Mr. Red Beard (sorry, I don't know your name), you have some angry energy, and are using some shame-based language, which IMHO turns some women off, especially the higher-quality ones. I’m a white American man in my late 50’s and retired from the Army where I served 26 years as an Infantryman. It’s true that the minimum IQ we allow is 83 but there’s only a few jobs they can serve in, one is Laundry and Bath Specialist, Food Service Specialist (cook), Fuel Handling Specialist and I believe Motor Transport Specialist (truck driver) but I’ve seen some smart people in that job. So the Infantry is populated by very intelligent men at an average of around 120 which many don’t believe but I saw the stats myself. We enjoy an environment where we faces challenges and have to be resourceful to deal with things. So for me, my IQ is 126 and I married a lady from Puerto Rico who was a 21 year old virgin (very catholic) and we have two daughters who have IQ’s of 135 and my oldest joined the Army as a Practical Nurse and ETSed in 2018 and got a job 2 weeks later doing her same job but making big bucks, she’s almost done with her Nursing Degree and bought her own home 5 years ago. A kids IQ comes from the parents, not the environment as people think. I also spent time as a Recruiter and you’d be amazed at how many people in the US have sub 83 IQ’s, the only ethnicities that would easily pass the ASVAB test were whites, Japanese, Indian and Chinese. But even then I learned to not assume anything, I tested a few people with bachelors degrees who got a 75-80 and they wanted to join badly and even after a re-test, same result. The Hispanic community in California was around 75 IQ but I’d find some rare gems now and then. Since recruiting I now can immediately tell if I’m dealing with a low IQ person and often I wish I didn’t have that ability. Here’s a quick IQ check you can use on someone, write down the word CHAOS and show it to them and ask them if they know how to pronounce it, you’ll see real quick. Then for math, just ask them what 15% of 100 is. Hot chicks may not know much but they know every man wants to doink them.

Most of the students that went to Humboldt State University were middle class white kids/people and generally their IQ was averaged at 105 but when testing those kids with tech degrees, same thing applied, below 83 IQ but some did get at least around a 90-95. We often figure that a college graduate (bachelors) would have around a 120 IQ but we never found one. People don’t realize that only a small percentage of Americans are qualified to enlist, it’s around 5% now and much lower after the flood of illegals who are sub 75 on average. I was posted in 4 different recruiting stations in my time and the cities with a conservative majority would always have strong IQ’s. I worked in one place that had Westlake Village and Agoura Hills in the zone and we never got people from those zip codes since they were people in the entertainment industry and mostly jewish, the phone conversations were horrible, they’d scream and curse at us as if we were sub humans. If I told you how they felt about non-jews and especially the military, you’d think I was racist so I’ll withhold that, needless to say, it was an enlightening experience. We had Goldy Hawn’s niece try to enlist and she got a score of 27 (IQ of around 76), you have to remember that a kids IQ comes from the parents, not their environment or any school, those provide information and procedures to process information only.

In Germany most everyone speaks English because almost everyone has to study for ten years. That's the way it is in most European countries, eastern and western. Yet you will find so many people when you go to the countries who can't speak a half dozen words in English, despite the 7-10 years of schooling, plus a final exam at the end. After the final exam, they totally f** k English off. It's mostly the younger generation, believe it or not, who is worse; older generations can speak English better than the younger. And I have met young kids in their 20's working for 5 star hotels and US car rental companies in touristic towns, and they can't even say a couple words in English! Totally unacceptable!

I looked up the story too. Apparently it was in a community which was already quite poor, and this was during the pandemic lockdowns, when there were very few travelers/tourists coming through and spending money, so people there were even more desperate than usual.
Anyway, as far as the IQ thing goes, I think to a large extent this is overblown. A big factor is simply having adequate nutrition, particularly in childhood, and then getting decent schooling, where your brain is conditioned for learning, taking tests, etc.

But, if you're judging people's IQ in a country where Spanish is the native language, and you find that many people can hardly any speak English, the smartest thing you can do is taking some Spanish classes, so you can integrate yourself into the local culture. I'm from Medellín, and when I've visited some small cities and towns in the US, I'm pretty sure it'll be diffcult to meet someone who speaks Spanish, unlike cities such as Miami, NY or Los Ángeles.

I'd suggest some of the guys here try Japan. It's an actual first world country. Everything works like it's supposed to. People aren't stupid. There's almost no violent crime. There's very little poverty. You don't need to drive a car everywhere because you can just use the shinkansen. All the tap water is drinkable. Women are polite. Food is much healthier. You'll never get bored and there's always something new to do or see. There's no woke culture. Alot of people aren't normies. The family unit is intact. Children are raised with respect. And if you make US dollars or UK pounds you're all set.
The one caveat is that almost noone speaks english. But if you're moving to someone else's country you shouldn't expect them to know your language anyway. You should instead be prepared to learn their language. If you just take the time to learn Japanese , everything else will be worth it...

I think this is largely do to the Flynn effect. People aren't smarter perse. IQ is just an attempt to measure intelligence that relies highly on familiarity with abstract problems. It's a good one, for sure. But you need to know who you're norming the test against. It's really not "culture-fair."
I'd guess that IQ goes up with closeness to large urban areas, as the skillset needed to do well in life changes from physical to mental. It's known how physical fitness decreases the larger the city.
But that's just a guess.
I spent time in Colombia (three months), speak Spanish (so I got to know people quite well) and studied psychology (so I studied IQ and IQ testing).
The average IQ is an estimate and this estimate is likely inaccurate (to what degree is the main question) and the relationship between IQ and intelligence is imperfect (it correlates with scholastic achievement, occupational success etc. and is highly heritable but does it truly capture "intelligence" or the correlated attributes of success and schooling? This is a massive area of debate).
I think we should be very sceptical of any claims that estimate a country's IQ and be careful with the interpretation.
Education, nutrition, familial support and culture all influence IQ, as do genetic factors.
I think it's safe to say that a lack of education and poverty contributes to lower IQ (remember, IQ is best defined as your ability to do IQ tests and this is influenced by things like education, nutrition, stress etc.). So, I'd say this is likely the Flynn effect at work where the larger incidence of poverty leads to people being less able to educate themselves (whether through not attending school at all or attending school but not concentrating due to poor nutrition, stress at home, second jobs etc.).
I'd also call out that some behaviours are likely cultural or better explained by situational factors.
For example, the gas truck was clearly bad judgement and wouldn't happen in Australia, where I'm from. But we don't really have this level of poverty at scale, so this would look like an unexploded bomb to us and a chocolate factory to poor people for whom gas is very expensive. So, different motivations. Then, all it would take is for a few people to start before others assume it must be safe given that it is happening. Basically, herd mentality.
Would better education fix this? To a degree, but desperate people do desperate things.
What about racism? Racism is pretty common across the entire world and not super correlated to intelligence. I think this is a fair criticism to level at them. Chinese people are often very racist and have an estimated average IQ of 104. So, while I agree that this should be criticised, I don't think this has anything to do with IQ. Smart people hold offensive, ignorant views all over the world.
I will say that I agree with your criticisms, but I wouldn't tie it to a narrative about IQ. I get that it's a nice way to tie the narrative together, but would say that it's better to say that people do highly dangerous things in Colombia at great risk to their personal safety (often resulting in their deaths) and that Colombian people can often be very racist.
These are fair criticisms and are worth discussing, but I wouldn't say that they are stupid and this is why they do all these things.

I don't honestly believe some of these average IQs in different countries. The average national IQ in most of sub-Saharan Africa is 70. They might be stupid, but I don't think they are that stupid. Remember when it comes to testing there are certain biases that comes along with gathering data in this form factor. Their children go to school ,are healthy and eat well and lead 'better'(not in every way) lives and they grow up with a few extra points on their IQ. But IQ does not create wealth, wealth creates IQ. Political stability is critical.

I'm Mexican and on every chart which ranks the countries with the IQ, I've noticed Colombia falls behind Mexico. My guess is that Colombia's population varies greatly while Mexico's is more consistent across the board. I think that the Atlantic and parts of the caribbean coast bring the average down quite a bit. The afrodescendant community really bring it down. Mexico has an afrodescendant population but nowhere near as much as Colombia. Colombia's average is 82 while Mexico's average is 88. More similar to Turkey, Vietnam, and Malaysia. I think that if you measure just the white, castizo, harnizo and mestizo of Colombia, it would be as much as Mexico or higher.

Dating quality does vary significantly between different latin american countries. I've lived in Costa Rica and Mexico (currently in Mexico City). Mexico City (CDMX) has women from all over latin america. Women from Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina are fairly common. There are Russian and Asian women here too. I've dated all those nationalities. I love CDMX, the dating scene is great, sure there are some overweight, toxic, etc., but with 22 million people, there are more really hot, smart, kind, well-educated women in CDMX than you can shake a stick at. If you think there aren't an abundance of very attractive women there, something's wrong with you! CR women are noticably more influenced by feminism, and so are Argentinian and Colombian women. They are noticably more demanding and entitled, but not as bad as the USA (except Argentina, most are pretty difficult IMHO). Of course there are nice women in every country, I'm just talking generalities. Venezuelan woman are very nice overall. I've heard lots of good things about Peruvian and Brazilian women but have yet to date one. In Mexico City, you can meet a "9" or "10" and half of them are entitled, but half are still nice, decent, kind women. Do your research and learn some Spanish. Mexico City is a soft landing for latin america, try there first. They have Amazon Prime and stable, 300mb/s fiber optic internet. The weather is very temperate. You'll have 95% the convenience of a modern U.S. city. Be sure to live in a safe upscale neighborhood. I'm very happy I moved. Just be smart, prepare, get in shape, learn game, and you will have abundance with high quality women. I’m a white American man in my late 50’s and retired from the Army where I served 26 years as an Infantryman. It’s true that the minimum IQ we allow is 83 but there’s only a few jobs they can serve in, one is Laundry and Bath Specialist, Food Service Specialist (cook), Fuel Handling Specialist and I believe Motor Transport Specialist (truck driver) but I’ve seen some smart people in that job. So the Infantry is populated by very intelligent men at an average of around 120 which many don’t believe but I saw the stats myself. We enjoy an environment where we faces challenges and have to be resourceful to deal with things. So for me, my IQ is 126 and I married a lady from Puerto Rico who was a 21 year old virgin (very catholic) and we have two daughters who have IQ’s of 135 and my oldest joined the Army as a Practical Nurse and ETSed in 2018 and got a job 2 weeks later doing her same job but making big bucks, she’s almost done with her Nursing Degree and bought her own home 5 years ago. A kids IQ comes from the parents, not the environment as people think. I also spent time as a Recruiter and you’d be amazed at how many people in the US have sub 83 IQ’s, the only ethnicities that would easily pass the ASVAB test were whites, Japanese, Indian and Chinese. But even then I learned to not assume anything, I tested a few people with bachelors degrees who got a 75-80 and they wanted to join badly and even after a re-test, same result. The Hispanic community in California was around 75 IQ but I’d find some rare gems now and then. Since recruiting I now can immediately tell if I’m dealing with a low IQ person and often I wish I didn’t have that ability. Here’s a quick IQ check you can use on someone, write down the word CHAOS and show it to them and ask them if they know how to pronounce it, you’ll see real quick. Then for math, just ask them what 15% of 100 is. Hot chicks may not know much but they know every man wants to doink them.

Most of the students that went to Humboldt State University were middle class white kids/people and generally their IQ was averaged at 105 but when testing those kids with tech degrees, same thing applied, below 83 IQ but some did get at least around a 90-95. We often figure that a college graduate (bachelors) would have around a 120 IQ but we never found one. People don’t realize that only a small percentage of Americans are qualified to enlist, it’s around 5% now and much lower after the flood of illegals who are sub 75 on average. I was posted in 4 different recruiting stations in my time and the cities with a conservative majority would always have strong IQ’s. I worked in one place that had Westlake Village and Agoura Hills in the zone and we never got people from those zip codes since they were people in the entertainment industry and mostly jewish, the phone conversations were horrible, they’d scream and curse at us as if we were sub humans. If I told you how they felt about non-jews and especially the military, you’d think I was racist so I’ll withhold that, needless to say, it was an enlightening experience. We had Goldy Hawn’s niece try to enlist and she got a score of 27 (IQ of around 76), you have to remember that a kids IQ comes from the parents, not their environment or any school, those provide information and procedures to process information only.
