I'm so grateful that just sharing this journey on here has been able to inspire other music people like myself to get making and keep making.

tbh, I've seen your videos pop up now and then, and I'd always watch them. I have to say, I'm inspired to give it a shot myself. Maybe not 30 songs in 30 days, but I'll start small with 7 songs in 7 days. I'll admit, as artists, we tend to be our own harshest critics. I have a friend who I send all my demos to, and I usually end up hating them, but he always tells me he loves them. Then, months later, he sends them back to me, and I'm like, damn, he was right, they're actually good 😭. So, I think it's all about letting go and creating, rather than overthinking and staying stuck.
it's crazyy how much that happens - u can't hear how good your own work is until ages later and YES challenge yourself for 7 days it might help you stop putting so much pressure on yourself :)

@@itsbatosaI think it's because we all are scared to allow ourselves to feel music and allow the imperfections to come through. I realised that every time I say I'm just going to make whatever no rules just whatever. It usually turns into a mess but when I start to clean it up it sounds better but I think it's personal, everyone has something that they're scared to show/try. At the end music is something that allows yourself to be vulnerable.

I did a 28 song day challenge 3 years ago. Although all songs were not complete finished songs, a lot of them were finished ideas with melodies, good enough production and unfinished lyrics/signing parts. I made my friend listen to all the 28 songs/ideas and we worked together to completly finish 3 songs. Those 3 songs are something that i would never usually make and we recently relesed last of those 3 songs in march this year. that last song already has a million streams on spotify alone, not to mention the other two songs are a favourite among our hardcore fans. these challenges let you go off the mindset that you need to make something good and just let you make music for the fun of it which is what its all about. having fun . all the best on releasing some of those songs

Inspired me not to overthink so much about what I'm making. I definitely catch myself being a perfectionist when it comes to making anything creative because I expect this high level of myself, even when I know I'm not quite there. Repetition is key. Sick video 🤙. God bless!

This is interesting, the struggles of creating are well exposed here. You have multiple talents bro ! I am also a musician and i struggle with those exacts self conscious issues you are going through during the video, and after also most likely, it can only get better but i don't see it disappear completely. Someone commented about maybe doing the challenge for 7 days. I am working away from home rn but when i get home im putting my mind to it, for a week to begin, maybe two. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and your music. You have something to offer to the world it's glaring
Yeah absolutely do it bro you'll learn so much about yourself - I would say give yourself a hard limit of 1 or 2 weeks so you know you're done and can feel good about it

Im about to do an IB personal project on this shit. Making music has always been my passion and I want to level it up instead of just making beautiful acoustic songs. Yk like drums, beats, piano rolls, etc... make it sound like a full music piece. I've always had trouble with my own head when I make music, but this was really inspiring in the sense that I actually learned from it, and you've given me the confidence to just let it go and do it. True! We are our own worst critics. I've been doing my own version of this. Just allowing myself to flow and finish my songwriting process naturally and not focus too much on it being ¨perfect¨ or ¨marketable.¨ I couldn't do 30 full songs in 30 days {well, maybe I could try?😅}. I did something more like: 10 full songs per month for 3 months. I learned a lot with that and I found the right balance for myself. Still creative but I wasn't as critical with myself as I was before. I am curious to see what you will create in in the future. 😊
nahhhhh your version is great - it was never the objective for people to compare, finding your own balance is the most important thing and it sounds like you have :) No matter the timeline there is something to be said about deadlines, really does stop the overthinking

I did this with reels for almost 30 days, got to 20 and i was donee. Honestly i liked almost every track and i felt way sharper after the challenge, but i was just writing, singing, recording, mixing and mastering a little! this was amazing man!

Song a day is for real !! I'm doing a summer art challenge where I do a song sketch every day, the next thirty days I build out and the last 30 days I'll chose 10 to finish! This is really a fun and motivational way to go about staying commited to creating every day :)
That's sick - I did a similar thing to this earlier in the year and holy shit choosing some to finish and then finishing them takes WAY LONGER so tell me how you get on !

Veeery inspiring! It was as if i could see myself making music, feeling all the emotions: the frustration, the blissful breakthroughs, the overthinking, the self doubts, the euphoria of feeling something groovy... i remember doing yoga one day while listening to one of my songs and crying to it thinking: I DID THIS!!!!!!! I haven't done a 30 day challenge, what i did was throught the pandemic i was playing 6-8 hours almost everyday for a year. I burnt out myself so much that to this day I'm working on physical therapy for my back. I want to say thanks for posting this and reminding me that the true present is for ourselves, we make music for ourselves because if we allow for all the feelings to flow within we're being humans, and humans are the one's who make art, inspire, cry... after a break in music making and years of reiterating my relationship with music (or with myself through music), I've been simplifying as much as i can; me, an acoustic, a drumachine (ableton) and pen & pencil. The freedom of joy flows again in my system! Thanks again for all this inspiration, a looooot of your songs sounded GREAT! Keep them comin' please! Cheers : )

I could totally relate to this video. I always wanted to be artist/songwriter so I would try to make covers of existing songs and post them on Tiktok or Instagram. However, I'd always find myself deleting the posts afterwards because I overthink of what people might think of my music. Then I would listen to it again and think that they're not good enough and discard it even though I initially thought it was good.
Maybe I should try this challenge and make my own songs. Thank you for this, you've given me some motivation.

Hey, I just found your video here in my feed. I’ve done a number of daily music video challenges myself (recording a track and editing a music video for it each day). The last being a big failure at the start of May, so clearly this was a well targeted video.
As you have discovered, the best thing about doing these challenges is creating some of your best work. The first thought that came to my head while watching this was ‘Wow, this guy is good!’. Then I saw your shot at Freshwater beach, 10 minutes walk from where I live 😮 Anyway, subscribed and looking forward to hearing more!

This video definitely makes me more motivated now since i dont know if my songs really great for it to be listen to without any much of a knowledge on music production. I've been judging my songs too harshly of late, and haven't been able to just let go and create, so it makes me glad to see you were able to break through that barrier and just make shit.
