When I was in drama class in high school we had to do an act to a song. I had watched Navy Seals and this song struck as the one. When the class was coming to an end, the teacher asked if there was anything that stood out to anyone and everyone in the class pointed their finger at me. I often think of what would have happened if I had Rea pursued some kind of acting career all due to this song.
I remember many many years ago I was coming from a funeral where I buried my friend who committed suicide. And then oddly enough this song came on the radio I never heard it on the radio ever even after the Navy seals movie. I'll pull over to the side of the road and cried my eyes out.
You know I watched the movie with my Thai wife on TV, and expecting her not to be able to tell me who was singing (I'm 61!) she turned around and said "marvelous music darling, Ritchie Havens!", :-) thanks for putting this here so we can both hear it together in the warm moonlight.....
Thank you very much. I have been singing this song since I saw the movie Navy Seals as a kid. Never new the name of the song or who sang it for the longest time. Great song!
Lyrics: Midnight, street light, Shadows, touch your face Whisper, goodnight, Though I want you so, to stay. I'm standing on the hardline, Taking my sweet time Praying that you'll see why, I' m slow to change. Been fighting on the front line, Victim of a heart crime Just can't let you steal mine away Listen, reasons never will explain. Freedom, is just to save time, 'Til I'm strong enough, To bend and not break. I'm standing on the hardline, Taking my sweet time Hoping that you'll see why, I'm slow to change. Been fighting on the front line, Victim of a hard crime Just can't let you steal mine away... Well, I need your trust, Don't give up, don't shut me down, I'll open up, If you just try love my way. I'm standing on the hardline, Taking my sweet time Hoping that you'll see why, I'm slow to change. Been fighting on the front line, Victim of a hard crime Can't just let you steal mine away...
This is a wonderful version of this song. Of course anything sung by Ritchie Havens would be. Do yourself a favor and listen to the author's original. Waylon Jennings, it is also a great take on this song. Of course, it would be....
Wish I could find another woman like u Jennifer, whom I can love like this........ Even though I was on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan...... Thanks for your love
There’s another version by Waylon Jennings that was used in the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. It doesn’t even get close to Richie’s version. This song is absolutely awesome.
Who's listening to this 2024 and remembers from the film Navy Seals
Loved watching navy seals as a kid on dvd every night!!
I am! I honestly think it is one of if not Charlie Sheen's best role. This song popped back into my head a few days ago.
I’m rewatching movie now and was curious who sang this version.

If this song doesn't make you want to make sweet sweet love to a woman, you aren't American
Tony Dan I'm British but I get your point.
@@leesullivan1235 Does that mean you're gay?
....not judging
