  • There's so much going on in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas y'all!
We spent three days in one of the biggest metro areas in the state. Dallas is very rich and fancy. Fort Worth is very traditional and conservative. Wonderful people!

Expect it to be really hot in the Summer with at least some humidity not as humid as Houston or the southeast but still somewhat humid but May and June are humid because the frequent rains in fact we already been close to 100 here already and it’s only May so that day felt like 105. It does dry out in June and usually late June to around July 4 you wonder where the rain went it dries up and we frequently get over 100 last 2 years it’s been over 110 and last year it was that for 2 weeks practically and 105+ for a month and 100+ for over 2 months I’m not exaggerating even most early mornings it’s 80+ and humid so it still feels like 90 that’s what you should be prepared for in DFW. I’m convinced actually DFW is the hottest major city in Texas second hottest in the country behind Phoenix even San Antonio is surprisingly 5* cooler in the heart of Summer even though they do get 90 earlier in the year or keep
the 90s later in the fall but we tend to stay hot until mid October ourselves but mid Summer is the worse tends to be in north Texas and along the Rio Grande River which hardly nobody lives there compared to DFW.

One thing I like about Nick Johnson is, in every video he tries to put a positive spin on things.
I live on a coast city, and they have a negative "fly over state" view of most of the USA, and would call a state like Texas boring and "nothing there"
Me personally, I will take clean and boring, over exciting and a lot of crime any day.

So true they are different cities! I've worked in both.
Difficult getting around in Ft Worth, as the streets are built kind of in a wagon wheel design, & most of the original street signs are missing. Speaking of the hood in Dallas, my work took me there. One day, I had to go see an elderly, bedbound man. The front door was broken & had no way of being secured anymore. I kept knocking loudly & yelling as loud as I could. I finally, & cautiously, opened it & finally stepped inside. I startled the man awake, as he roused himself to a half sitting position in bed, & his 357 dropped from beneath his pillow onto the floor. He apologized, immediately retrieved it back under his pillow & invited me in. I assured him I'd always knock & yell loudly before entering each time.
I have other stories from the hood for the grandkids, but I finally made my own escape to the country.
(Great git-up you had on for Ft Worth, but I'm not sure it would go over in Big D!)

@@jrs4ex That makes sense! Often the streets stop at a cross street, & begin again a half block over. It drove me crazy.
However, I must say I would prefer living in Ft Worth than Dallas (but I was country girl before moving to Dallas).

Been in Texas since 2021 and I love it here. I left CA in 2021 because of the you know what but Texas is such a unique state with people who take pride in being Texan. It’s pretty cool. Only regret is I should have moved sooner.

Great video! My high school marching g band and our rival high school's marching band were in the 1973 Cotton Bowl Parade and the buildings were tall but not like it is today. We landed at Love airport from Denver as DFW was just being built. Thanks for the memories.

I'm a DFW resident i grew up in Ft Worth to be exact! The area has changed so much! The urban cowboy vibe that's been here for generations, is slowly disappearing! Ft Worth still has it but it not in Dallas like it used to be! Not to many J.R. Ewings anymore. That being said this is my hometown and i will always love DFW!

I liked Fort Worth downtown living but as you pointed out most of the tech was in Dallas. Two things you did not mention that I did not like. 1. Commuting is a nightmare. 2. The bums were on Lancaster Ave, east of I35. The property taxes are too much as well

Fort Worth definitely beats every city in Texas. Despite me growing up in a rough place like in Austin, I appreciate the tradition the stockyards keep in place, it feels more lively there. Even a lot of my good friends come from the DFW area but really Fort Worth is something special. Gotta love the rodeos, they’re fun.

Driving during the evening rush hour from DFW airport area on my way to Austin, it’d take hours. So, the Toll & over $20 just to get outta that congested area - driving thru the southern side of Ft.W. is a heartbreaking mess. But the city proper, yeeesss indeed!
