- I think this is now the 4th Creedence Clearwater Revival song on the channel. I have really been enjoy CCR recently. They have that outstanding classic rock sound that never disappoints. I Put A Spell On You has shown me a different side to Creedence Clearwater Revival that I hadn't heard before. This song seemed to have so much more emotion and emphasis on their vocals. That's quite funny to say consider all of CCR's music that I have heard so far has delivered so much emotion but for some reason, I Put A Spell On You just hit different...
Here is my reaction to hearing Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put A Spell On You for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

Born on the Bayou!!! A must!
Born on the Bayou is one of the greatest songs in my little opinion.
Yes, been screaming for that masterpiece!
Absolutely!!! 💯
That song is the reason I’m a bass player.
Yes please! 🤗👏🤗👏🤗👏
Bad Moon Rising (used in An American Werewolf In London) 😁
"I Put a Spell on You" is a 1956 song written and recorded by "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins. The selection became a classic cult song, covered by a variety of artists. CCR’s is one of the best known.
There are literally hundreds of cover versions of this song. This one was good but my personal fave version was by Nina Simone.
To me it's the best version. By far !!❤❤❤❤❤
haha! I thought you would have known this one because Marilyn Manson did a cover too.
Love Nina's version
La mia versione preferita è quella di Mica Paris, con ospite David Gilmour
I LOVED when John left for solo career and the band tried to sue him. He WROTE everything, played and sang everything. The band said he's new solo's sounded like CCR. The judge dismissed the case basically saying how do you sue a man for sounding like himself.
The old record company sued him over The Old Man Down the Road sounding too much like Born On The Bayou which they had the rights to. The jury ruled it was his style after he performed in the witness stand with his guitar. After the verdict he invited the jury and everyone in the court to a local bar and paid the whole tab. Some jury duty, huh?
CENTERFIELD!!!!! Yes.
The soul in John's voice is unbelievable.
Keep in mind, this is live. They walked into a studio and played this all together. Then they did other shit. Some songs take months to record. This one took a few minutes.
CCR RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE
YES!!!
I still have that 45, lol
On my Driving List...👍
One of CCR's best! Mollyboy must do that one.
Oh, Yeah! ✌
***WHO'LL STOP THE RAIN*** and ***PROUD MARY***
Who'll Stop the Rain is a personal favorite. I saw Springsteen in 82 and he did a wonderful cover.
Proud Mary is a must ❤️
Mr Fogarty is the only recording star ever to be sued for sounding to much like himself when he went solo.
Ridiculous.
MollyBoy, I’m so proud of you experiencing the musical path you’re on. It’s taking me Home.
Dude....John Fogerty is a freaking musical genius. He wrote all the music....played and sang brilliantly....his voice just cannot be replicated. They got a bunch more bangers for ya....Cheers!
He didn't write ALL the music. "Heard it Through The Grape Vine" is a cover. They also did a cover of "Good Golly Miss Molly" that is excellent. Their cover of "Susie Q" is probably my favorite.
@ barring covers of course…..and that famous album where he forced the others to write something to prove a point.
Technically Screaming Jay Hawkins wrote it but he even said it was theirs when they did this
@@armandocardenas2999 And prove a point he did!! That non selling album was shit!!
I suggest Born on the Bayou and Fortunate Son. A lot of their music ended up in movies about Vietnam
Due to the fact that the songs were written and performed during that time period. Still extremely popular.
One of the most underrated quitar players. His song intros and licks are all legendary and iconic yet he very rarely gets mentioned in top guitar players.
I'm not alone in this I'll wager; I was worried about this kid. He was do wound when he hit 100K and then he vanished for days. GLAD to see ya back Son 😀
Ditto!
I was worried too!
Me too!
Me too!
That was a long session without sleep😂😂
John Fogerty was out touring all Summer with his sons !! Still going strong!!
John lives and breathes music and performing!!
I saw him in Toledo, OH in August. Fantastic show from beginning to end!
I saw them in Windsor ont a year and a half ago (front row) four feet away from Fogerty, just amazing
I saw him in Tulsa last year. AMAZING!!!
He puts so much of himself into all his performances, he must be exhausted after each show. And he's 79 years old now!
CCR had some great kick-ass tunes too - like Green River, Born on the Bayou and Bad Moon Rising 😎
I’m jumping back down the rabbit hole I’d forgotten about. Bad moon rising? How TF did I forget that? Precisely why I love the comments section ❤
The long version of "Susie Q" is another great listen. Its around 11 minutes long with a drum and guitar solo in the middle. Fire. Actually, you won't find a bad song in their caralog. Thanks for this reaction! A+!
CCR is one of my favorite bands of the 70's! Deep rabbit hole if you are inclined🥰❤
60’s and 70’s!
This one is my favorite CCR cover. If you haven't hit the long version of Suzie Q, THAT should be your next CCR reaction. Cheers....
AMEN.... And porterville!
Absolutely!! 🎉🎉🎉
Oh yeah, Susie Q
And now you are getting into really why we like CCR, not just their soft stuff, but their Harecore stuff with John fogerty's unique soulful voice which is one of the beast voices in music history!!! 🤭🤭🤭
Excellent Freudian slip there 😅.
LOOKING OUT MY BACKDOOR
Definitely!!!
I've suggested that.
POV: when you have your head up your ass
Goo goo goo dripping out my back door!
"Tamborines and elephants, are playin' in the band, won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon"
Quite the trip....
Oh Yes More CCR!!!!
Can’t go wrong with CCR!!!!!
1. Looking Out My Back Door
2. Up Around The Bend
3. Down On The Corner
4. Who’ll Stop The Rain
5. Proud Mary
6. Lodi
7. The Old Man Down The Road
8. Sweet Hitchhiker
9.Green River
10.Traveling Band
11. Bad Moon Rising
to name a few!
Green River
This is a killer solo
I hear some Stevie Ray Vaughn in this. He had to be influenced by this.
ALL AWESOME SONGS!! 👌
All of those songs! Yes, please!
John fogerty has such a soulful voice it's hard to believe he's a California boy and not the deep south. Great choice.
Hey! He's from the Delta. O.K.---it's the Sacramento River delta . . .
@bonnievonbraun6276 i thought you might say he's from the south. Southern California. Lol
You’re such a baby with the plethora of good music that was the 50s through the middle 90s…… but we’re all taken every moment of this journey you’re on!! thank you for that we get to relive how we felt hearing these🎉😂❤
I love reliving all this with our young man MollyBoy’s musical journey. Best best reactions. The feels and his inner smarts
You know after one second that it's Creedance.Good choice, my man.
Oh yes Mollyboy is back!! Love your expressions and how much you enjoy this music!!! Thanks!!!!!
Fogertys voice is insane. And his guitar solo is ridiculous. That man had too much talent. 😮😮😮😮
Your appreciation for great music, warms my heart.
This version's guitars give me chills.
BAD MOON RISING…..KNOCK-YOUR SOCKS OFF MAN!!!! It came out a long time ago. It’s a BANGER⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♥️🇨🇦
The word you are looking for is "phrasing"--great singers (and guitarists and other soloists) are inevitably great at how they phrase the song--what to emphasize, how to emphasize, where to leave space, how/when to bend a note or change the scale (e.g. from major to blues for a couple of notes). There are also people with great voices who are not very good at phrasing, which is why I make a distinction between great singers and people with great voices. When you have both, as with John Fogerty, here and many others, Bob Seger, Greg Allman, Steve Winwood, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, etc. is when you get the full Monty.
This is best version of this song even though it’s a cover CCR are legends ,please go down the rabbit hole with them ,I love your station Molly ❤
This is originally sung by Screaming Jay Hawkins, who was an incredible influence on shock horror performers like Alice Cooper. I had the great honour to watch him live over 30 years ago and it was one of the most incredible concerts I have ever been to. That man did not need a microphone! I highly recommend you check the original version out, Declan. There’s a few live performance videos of screaming jay hawkins on RUclips
I'm having fun watching your reaction to our era music. This CCR piece is one of my favourites. Are you sure you're a Hip Hopper? Could have fooled me.😂
I agree 100%! I graduated from high school in 1973. Maybe he was in my class…😂
Long As Can See the Light. It's a fantastic song that you would love his voice on that one too.
Yes! This one is my favorite by CCR!!
Another great cover is Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa's "I'd Rather Go Blind" a cover of Etta James song but get the live version in Amsterdam with another excellent guitar solo but the guitar solon in this is out of this world and this was the sixties no fancy machines just great guitar playing
The late 60's was overflowing with music like this!! I miss those days!!!!🎵🎼🎶🎸🎤🎙🎧🎹🥁🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
64 to 74, The golden decade
Yes this is one of the better covers of the original. CCR slays that sucker actually it's my feeling that Annie Lennox slayed with her cover too. CCR is a must have in any musical journey through history. MB you're getting quite the repertoire of musical genres and we love it thanks Mate.
This and "Long As I Can See the Light" are my favorite CCR songs (though it's hard to choose)
Good choice, I love it!
Their hardest hit and best cover ever!😮😊😊
Check out Born on the Bayou (1969) for some real "swamp-rock". Also: Run Through the Jungle (1970), Fortunate Son (1969) for the "Vietnam War" vibe.
I've been listening to CCR for 40 years, have not heard a bad song yet!! Keep on jammin!!
CCR was such an iconic sound for their time, and still holds up today!
I just love it when you say Rewind! CCR had that golden synchronicity🔥 "Down on the Corner' and 'Up Around the Bend' please✌
Love the way it comes in with those drums and this song has such a sexy spooky like vibe ❤🎸🎶🎸🎵🎸
Love CCR! Every song from them is FIRE!
Raw talent at it's best! No gimmicks, no auto tune just pure unadulterated talent! Loving your excitement and appreciation of some of the best of American musical history. Thank you for the joy!
Love when you react to CCR! Can't wait fot the next one!
Watching your first reaction to the music gives me the same awe I felt when I first heard CCR!! Welcome to my world!
One of the greatest songs ever written! And one of the most covered, I think.
Other great versions include (but by no means limited to) Nina Simone, Marilyn Manson, Joe Cocker, and The Animals
Annie Lenox version also top rate.
Personally love Annie Lennox's version. Cheers....
The original, by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, is unhinged.
Also screamin Jay Hawkins
Didn't Arthur brown do a cover also..?
Yes...definitely CCR is one the best of their time in music. Always been a huge fan..🎤🎸🇨🇦
Yay, you're back! 😁
He's almost 80 years old and still sounds the same!
I just saw John Fogerty and with his sons, Shane and Tyler, as his backup musicians in August! He still has it!!! Still incredible vocals and guitar! Saw CCR 3 live times back in the day.
they put a spell on me love this song so much
John Fogerty, a guy from Southern California, managed ...with his vocals, his guitar playing, his songwriting and the soul he unleashed in his songs...to convince millions of people he was from a deep South bayou. Lol and I was one of them in the 60's. You won't find many like CCR ...then or now.
He is not from Southern California. Born in Berkeley, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. All of them are from the East Bay.
Such a great song
MollyBoy, this came out 56 years ago!!!!!
One of my favorite versions of this song.
I was 19 when I saw them live in 1968. I'm now 75 years old but that doesn't matter, great music lives one and reminds you of how great it was to be young at the beginning of so much great music. I'm glad that it can have a second life with young people to day.
Live at Woodstock is the best way to watch this and other songs!
You can't go wrong with any CCR. Phenomenal catalog of great tunes
React to more then one song from the same artist, because most of them have more than one great songs, two back to back will get more viewers. Just saying!!!
"Better Run Through The Jungle" and "Born on the Bayou" are my favorite CCR songs. Hope you get to them sometime.
I'm almost 70 and I have always loved CCR. I had forgotten about this one. Thanks for the great reminder!
The album that contained I Put a Spell on You was the 1968 debut album of CCR and the first album I ever bought. I was 14 and just starting my musical journey. Check out Ninety Nine and a Half from the same record. It’s ferocious!
Bootleg, Keep on Chooglin, Porterville, It came out of the sky, Long as I can see the light, Midnight Special, Around the Bend, Sweet Hitch-hiker and the list goes on and on. You can't find a bad CCR song, these guys are absolutely amazing!! I got to see John Fogerty live just a couple of years ago and he is still an incredible performer!
His voice is emotional. As a teenager in the late 60s, 70s, that's exactly why these songs appealed to us, connected us to it and stayed relevant. Love you, love your reactions ... and your emotions.
Never apologize for rewinding!!!
I think I just had a flashback listening to this ✨
Ohhh one of my favourites by them!! Congratulations on 100K + 🥰
MollyBoy: You provide such an intergenerational experience! Dear Lord, how this strikes a nerve like so many others you've exposed to a world!! So impactful and entertaining and enjoyable!! This hits home!! Our societies, music, cultures and ages NEED to continue to mesh.....It's a human and worldly thing!! Thanks for what you do!! Blessings!!
Born on the Bayou should be next for sure. One helluva banger!
Their best. That long instrumental part...love it. This is how you do a cover, they made it their own.
I never heard this cover before. I was always partial to the Screamin' Jay Hawkins version but this is fantastic!
One of my All time favorite bands of any genre. period.
His voice. I need say no more. You know.
Love me some CCR. Been listening to em for probably around fifty five years now.
Me too 😊
Love your reaction! I had litterally forgotten just how great this song is. Thanks for reminding me why we ❤CVT
Glad you’re back. Was worried after you hit that 100k and disappeared for a few days. Back with a banger!😊
CCR might be historically the most underrated band of the late 60’s & early 70’s. Every LP is enjoyable.
While NOT the original artist for this song, CCR DID put so much of their "presence" as a band (vocals and musical) on this song that it HAS sort of become the "official version" of the song. A version that far exceeds most "copies" to come after CCR, and even (some would argue) exceeds the "original version" as well.
Basically, for a "cover" of a song, CCR clearly made their version of that "cover" something that is simply ICONIC!
I love how much you love my music 💙
This might be my favorite vocal performance from Fogerty, but there's so many songs don't hold me to that. Another one that doesn't get enough mentions is Tombstone Shadow, check out the Royal Albert Hall performance. flawless.
Yes! Tombstone Shadow hits hard with the fantastic guitar intro and bluesy Fogerty vocals.
One of the best guitar solos ever.
Congrats on 100K MB👍carry on mate ✌️
I've never heard this before, but I like it a lot!
FAIRDINKUM!
AAAAGH! That feels better! Not that I'm a drug addict, or have been, but you coming back is like getting a hit.
Missed you my man. Great to have you back!
And you can't miss with CCR. All of their songs are great!
Keep up the great work, I'll be here for your 200,000 and your 1000,000!
Let's do it!
Seeing your wee face reacting to the music i grew up with brings me so much joy you are a delight to watch and don't worry you rewind as many times as you feel the need to love your reactions keep on doing what your doing ❤
One of my favourite bands, have seen live twice and John Fogerty twice since solo.
Got the biggest smile when I saw there were new reactions posted. Welcome back 🎉🎉
Never get tired of that solo.
Absolutely LOVE this song. It's so soulful!!
MollyBoy, I think you respond to CCR so strongly because they are a bit “grungy” 25 years ahead of the Pacific Northwest. Love them!❤
Hello sir! Hope you get to read this. I'm 63 y/o and I watched you discover Jethro Tull the other evening. Your expression when the flute solo took you by surprise was priceless. I rewounded about 10 times just to watch over. Fun to watch younguns discover music that came out when I was in HS. Keep your chin up! You banked your 100,000 all right. Awesome.
🇬🇧
"Fortunate Son" My favourite "Looking Ot My Back Door"👌"Bad Moon Rising "Proud Mary "....There are many more too. ❤🎶🎼🫂
This and Suzie Q are my personal favorites, so much great music.
I love watching your reaction to one of the Greatest bands ever , Creedence Clearwater Revival 💙🎶🎸🎸💙🎶🎸🎶💙. I love it !!!!
The best recording of this song EVER!
Glad your back. Really enjoy your program 😊
Never heard a bad version of this much covered classic but this may be the best one.
I saw John in concert last Summer and he still kills this song.
Definitely can't go wrong with CCR, John Fogerty is a legend
They were so EPIC all you had to say was "CCR" 🤩
and everyone knew who you were talking about 🤓
#CCR
