Sunlight reflection will be a problem at times.
Chrome Consoles on a cruiser tanks have a similar impracticality.
The Thruxton will be an appreciating asset due to design and rider experience.
Im thinking of getting another .

Beautiful bike. Literally have fallen in love with the Thruxton these last dew days. Really tempted to get the Final Edition.

I wasn't sure if it was the acceleration or the fact the Honda and BMW tried to occupy the same space at the same time that caused your reaction.

If you fully open the throttle, will this bike wheelie or not?
I have a Speed Twin and it doesn‘t …a thing that I miss.

I have the 2016 version. Great bike. I almost never diddle with the mode unless I want to wheelie. And I suck at that and usually end up crushing my nuts, so it's short lived.
The problem with riding spec sheets is they tell very little of the story. These engines don't make a lot of peak power, but they make a lot of total power over the rev range. It's not going to have the top speed to pass many down the straights of a racetrack, but in the real world, it's a healthy eater. It's also built like a tank and the engine lightly stressed. Mines got over 56k miles on it and if you hopped on and rode it, you'd be hard pressed to discern it from a new one.
MIne's probably lighter as I ditched the mufflers for straight pipes. I still have the cats and they muffle the exhaust to a louder, but still very reasonable level.
I also put handlebars on mine. I like the stock clip-ons in the twisties, but it's a bit overly aggressive for everywhere else for my taste.
I also put a dual comfort seat and passenger pegs. My wife will still ride it for short hops, but anything longer than an hour or so, I'm takin the Hardley Ableson. When she's not on the Thruxton, I can use the rear pegs as a heel rest. With my toes on the front pegs, it's about like having a floorboard. Comfy for the occasional freeway blasts.
Perhaps one of its best kept secrets is that I still avg 52+ mpg riding the piss out of it. You can scroll to it with that i button on the left.

What brand handlebars did you put on? Was it a kit? Thank you.

Yes it’s a very well built bike. I personally enjoyed more the scrambler with this same engine, the XC and XE model, but all these Bonneville collection from Triumph is brilliant. They are works of Art.

The chrome tank is nice but surely not on a sunny day.
I have a 1200 Thruxton and one mod I recommend is is change rear sprocket from 42 to 37. Instead of cruising at 80 mph at 5000 it will cruise at 4000.
    Takes away the tingles.
All the modes have full power by the way, just different throttle action.
Put a fairing on your bike for real classic look.
