Also, for me, I SUCK at acrylic and I always thought I was bad at painting. When I tried oil it was like a light when off, I took to it really well and I havent gone back since

I usually use code names for my paint like:
    Acrylic - Shampoo
    Oil - Conditioner
    Watercolor - soap
It kind of helps me differentiate them in my own way
I hope you guys can share how you differentiate them too

Robin, you very talented, never forget that. Issues don't end, you just learn to "be" all the good that you are and live in all the good of the world. I teach acrylic and oil class in CT, USA. I always tell people who ask, - If I was doing portraits I'd use oil so I can blend and mix on the canvas for a long time. Other than that, you can master either medium equally and take advantage of their differences. I have done the same painting with both and a year later I have no idea which was which. If I wet a Q-tip with alcohol and rub the painting, the acrylic will color the cotton. Best wishes.

I now do alevel art and we’ve started working in Oil paint and I absolutely love it, i love how smooth the colours can look and i build up the layers when it hasn’t dried so if i do something wrong, i just get a clean brush and get rid of it. I haven’t used acrylics in ages so i will have to remember to not paint slowly like with oils. 🙂 Also, hope you’re doing okay Robin, even though you are having a hard time, but you’re an amazing person. Full of character so keep doing what you’re doing☺️☺️

Very helpful. I am now seriously attempting to paint entirely in oil. It is very slow compared to acrylic like you said in your video. I like the idea of an acrylic underpainting and then finishing with oil. I wasn't sure if it was acceptable and now you've confirmed that it is. Too bad you're having difficult issues to deal with. Our worse enemy is fear. I find that giving myself time to really think about any situation from as many angles as possible, praying, and recognizing that you can only do your best helps everything to work out. Life goes on is the best philosophy. All the best.
