- 1) I noticed this idea from the owner of the guest house in Lazarevskoye. I took a towel that was out of order and sewed pieces of fabric onto it.
Making rugs for your home is a fun, creative process. Every home has a material from which it can be made.
Manufacturing process:
- I cut 11x11 cm squares. This size can be any, but I was guided by the size of the towel.
- Arranged them in random order. The patchwork technique allows you to embody any design.
- I cut out a piece of fabric the size of the towel and put the squares there, since I had experience that when you immediately sew the fabric onto the terry, it shrinks and the product looks sloppy.
- I smoothed the pieces with a spider web so that they did not move. I transferred the finished canvas onto a towel.
- I cut strips of plain red fabric, 3 cm wide, turned the edges inward, and it turned out to be binding.
- I attached it with pins along the diagonals. It is necessary to ensure that the strips lie strictly in the middle of the joints of the squares.
- I stitched stripes on both sides.
It is important to stitch in one direction. If you started scribbling from the right corner, you should continue to do so. If you turn it over, everything will be skewed.
- I also treated the edge with tape.

2) I took out an almost new, but defective towel from the closet and put it to use. This time the whole secret is in the unusual edge processing.
Bath towels are not only great for drying off with, but they also make great bathroom rugs.
To do this, I took thick calico the size of the towel. If the terry is not as thick as mine, then it is better to take another towel on the other side.
The whole secret is in the edge processing.
- But first I stitched together two parts of the rug.
- From another fabric I cut out 4 strips, 12 cm wide. The length of each is equal to the side of the towel plus 1 cm from each edge for the seam.
- I sewed all the stripes in a circle.
Now we need to form 4 corners. For this you need a drawing:
- First we find the center, this is a point of 6 cm. From it we mark marks 4.5 cm up and down. From the resulting points we also mark 4.5 cm to the side.
- From the first central point 6 cm to the left, mark 0.3 cm.
- We connect this way. The result is a right angle.
- Sew along the drawn line, trim off the excess fabric.
- Turn it inside out and iron it.
- Let's try it on.
- One side needs to be folded, I did this with an iron.
- I turned the rug inside out and basted the hem to the rug in this way and stitched it.
- Turned the edging right side out. I folded the fabric, just as I stitched it on the wrong side.
The rug is ready!
This product is pleasant to use and does not slip. The rug is also easy to machine wash.

Богато стали жить ,коврики котам шьём,а раньше полотенца стирали до дыр , хорошо это или плохо не понять теперь, а работа отличная у мастерицы😮
Всё аккуратно, красиво сделано, молодчинка. Коврики, что надо, и котенок остался доволен, ему коврик явно понравился.
Только полотенце новое. Даже не полинявшее, не вытертое. И не понятно, с какого перепугу подруга такие полотенца выкидывает.
