This site has a really good heritage and wonderful expertise. I really enjoyed working there. Closing one down might look like a good move now, but once demand comes up again, we might not have the expertise we need. Really sad to see the situation. RR should reconsider the decision.

My dad shared this with me. He worked at Barnoldswick, and, though he moved to Derby as part of the 1971 shake up, he retained a loyalty to, and affection for, the site. I'm horrified that this plant could close, ripping the heart out of the town. Rolls Royce has been the catalyst for technology in this part of Lancashire, and there are a number of local small engineering businesses which have benefited from the high level of skills and innovation in the area.
Closing Barnoldswick would be such a short-sighted approach.

Don't put all your eggs in 1 basket. Bitcoin will always be around because of the coin exchanges and it's own blockchain. Given.. Excellent video. Well done Unite. Proud to be a member. I have shared it on my social media. What we need in this country is a press that represents working people. Also papers that would be at every news stand that highlight how much better the country could be with when the means of production distribution and exchange are owned by the workers. Keep this up.

The Singapore plant was built as risk mitigation for the Barnoldswick site. It’s crazy to then put Singapore as the single source. RR should keep the Crown Jewels of technology development in UK.

Please watch this video to understand what can happen when a company with a name that represents British excellence callously turns its back on the workforce that created its reputation, because the board of directors now view Rolls-Royce as an international company.
Perhaps it is time for the Government to consider taking back control of this flagship company.
My best wishes and support to the workforce in their endeavours to preserve British jobs.

The outsourcing of manufacturing to other countries, especially high quality niche products, is appalling & short sighted.

I don't think we should see this as an issue between countries. The technology that created belongs to all human beings. Not to a few to profit off and date their greed.

At least they can't blame the EU anymore.
