Hi...We just found your channel.! Great video, with nice descriptions and variety, with great trivia/information.
We're preparing to move back to CA...😢.. A lot of things have changed or are new. What I did one time, I made lists of every fun , seasonal festival and fun places to go (like the giant Greek Festival in Irvine or an Autumn flea mkt, Laguna Art Festival, etc, & went to EVERYTHING 👍) & weekends spent at Fashion Island & Rogers Gardens, going to "The Mariners" summer evening church svc on Bison St, or we'd go to Laguna for a day . SO much to do in Calif...Everyone should be a tourist wherever you live... research, plan, explore, put some money aside every month, just to enjoy it all with lovely meals, shopping, etc You must have a car to visitor live in Southern Calif.

I completely agree! I think everyone should be a tourist where they live. It adds so much to life to plan for adventures big or small. 🙂

FYI: When in Newport it's imperative that you weigh in on the classic and neverending Frozen Banana vs. Balboa Bar controversy. Locals are fiercely proud of their particular favorite and will defend it to the bitter end.

The best thing to do in Newport is sitting on the beach and chilling. The waves at the river and the jetties are good as well but chilling is the best thing. The sand is fine and totally different than the other beaches.

The sand there is unique. Some of the best!

You did a fantastic job! I grew up in Newport and it was a gas. One thing I would add is the wedge what makes it so different dangerous other than the rip curds is it goes from wave to sand so if you wipe out you really wipe outand it’s only for expert surfers because of the danger. Again great job thank you oh, you might also want to add walking around by Balboa Island is a lot of fun.

Thank you for the suggestions! When I was filming this video I just happened to miss the biggest swell of the year at the Wedge by 2 days. I hope I get to see those large waves in person someday as dangerous and incredible as they are.
Thanks for mentioning walking around Balboa Island. It seems like a great walk with plenty of beautiful views.

I never knew about the Tongan heritage in Newport Beach, CA.

The early people in the Newport Beach area were called Tongva (also known as Gabrielino) and Juaneño (also called Acjachemen) peoples. They lived in villages along the coast and inland areas 🙂

The state's coastal commission should act swiftly in defining who owns the beach.
