Great car....built during a time when Lexus built nothing but winners, mine is a 95 and still runs great if you hit the power or sport mode button and put your foot down it will fly as the 2j roars to life
What color was the Lexus GS you had on your room poster in HS? Those cars are definitely a classic and still a gem in 2023 having one in 1993 was a big success considering they costed 40k off showroom floor back in the day
It should be a crime to drive this car with so few miles. Still, thank you for sharing. I am about to purchase a current GS 350. I was a senior in college when this car came out and I was instantly smitten when I saw the commercial of the car with it's unique lines. Decades later, I now have my own, Ravi Peiris M.D.
for a car close to 30 years old the condition of this car pots a lot of newer cars to shame. I dont know how many of these are in the states but in Canada there are only a handful left. Mine had the upgraded sound system with CD player and heated seats. I am getting close to 300k. I would love to swap out those front seats lol,
I haven't seen a lot of this generation of GS on the roads (it's been very seldom in the few times that I have), I've still seen plenty of the second generation, however.
This 1st Lexus GS marked the return of the Toyota Crown in the US in 1993 (the Toyota model where it was based on)...... ..........20 years after the last Toyota Crown was offered in the US in 1973

These cars were highly flawed. Very heavy relative to the likes of E class, and without the v8 or turbo available in Japan lacking in torque. Handling and steering weren’t first rate and that would be excusable if power were up there, but all in all, it wasn’t a very compelling option. Too bad, as the quality was peerless and the design was intriguing.
Pretty fair take on your part. The 220hp looks better on paper then it feels in the car in these. Sorta like the Infiniti J30 at the time, just should have been quicker then they were. Very well built, stone cold reliable, cool design, but not super surprising they weren't a best seller when looking at other offerings at the time.
Lower curb weight than Supra and LS400 of the same year. And the gearing makes this thing boogy, horrible gas mileage but ide take this over the LS400s weird torque curves.
@@HamburgerHelperDeath At the time the W124 E-class was still in production, which is often hailed as the most reliable car ever. They tend to rack up the miles without dying in very Lexus fashion (Toyota benchmarked that generation of MB). Things kinda went to hell with the W210 and W211. W212 and newer have improved from the down period in quality during the Chrysler merger.
@@richardj.4810 I put on GodSpeed monoss coilovers last year, I have a it just slightly below stock height. Yes, I raised my coilovers 😅🤫 It still looks low, and rides better than the stock shocks which were sagging bad and crashed and boomed more than the coilovers
The Lexus GS 300 first generation. I'm fan for this car.

I had this car on my wall when I was in HS. It was beautifully designed and still looks modern even in 2023. I wonder what did it end up selling for?

That engine bay..... I can practically eat off it. Super clean!!

The remote is built in to the key. It is one small button on the corner of the key that looks abs unlocks the vehicle.

Crown was a crown and Aristo was the GS300. The LS400 and Toyota Cressida were the Crown replacements.
My uncle had one hand he junk the car, I was trying to buy it he junked it anyway. I’m looking for one now at a low cost
Was this car sold by the charity yet?

One of these would last the life time of 3 E class cars though.
