I was with eric on this battle. And this was the first time i had ever seen the battle and i was watching with my friends who both picked blastoise.
Bulbasaur is the best option for Red and Blue because he does the best against the early gyms and by the time you get to the later gyms you'll already have other pokemon to counter them

Contrary to popular belief, if megas, stats, and tms were available venasaur would demolish both of them due to durability alone. Blastoise is the worst of the three if that's the case but charizard can't punch through venasaur due to his ability and bulk.

@@MadMax-ii8gq Bruh, Mega Venusaur's thick fat ability, defense, and healing can let him survive against both Mega Charizards. I've played Showdown before, my Mega Venusaur survived a Flare Blitz from Ch-X and a Fire Blast from Ch-Y.

There is 1 huge reason as to why charmander is the best starter: youll encounter tons of grass and water pokemon, yet fire type is so rare to come by, especially early on. Although you have a disadvantage on the 1st gym, from there on its a huge advantage
Misty is a huge roadblock when you get pass her i'm 80% you have a charizard and you will get absolutely get REKT

Grass is easy to train so to easy to take down
Fire is the hardest there for to low level
But still H2O is normal and round over all so it will win easy so yeah

This is a fight with only natural learned moves and no trainer influence, Blastoise destroys both Venusaur and Charizard since they don't have any natural moves to counter the Rain Dance.

In a battle with tms egg moves or tooter moves that you could change for every match the bulbasur line would win because in its pre evolution it can learn nature power witch pick a move depending on the environment such as rain dace=hydro pump ectra and you could fill out its other two moves with a healing and status moves of the grass and poison type or go full grass/poison damaging moves

In the games, Squirtle is totally the best choice because of his ways of dealing with alot of the gym leaders aswell as the elite Four. In competitive play Bulbasaur/Venusaur is the best because of its tankiness. Charizard is cool and with Mega Charizard X and Y, he did become a stample in Competitive. Buuut since the discussion is about being a starter in the game, I gotta give it to Squirtle ^^
17% of over 7000 means venusaur won over 1190 of the possible battles,it could have won the beam struggle with charmander,boom thats one dead,then while blastoise is asleep ,charge solar beam,aim for the opening of the shell and boom the second one is dead and venusaur wins
Caleb Shackleford fine then,charizard doesnt react in time and gets torched by the solar beam,or venusaurs poison kills him,or venusaur holds charizard down and strangles him to death with its vines,or holds him down and cut his head off with razor leaf.
Caleb Shackleford the fight only showed the majority percentage fightier win,and the research did show that venusaur wins 17% of the time,they all win,but at the same time they all lose,its like that in EVERY deathbattle.its this battle that made me think of DB differently,it doesnt matter who wins because in an alternate fight,the loser could actually win.so whenever a character you want to win loses,just think of it like that.
Caleb Shackleford but out of thousands of possible ways a battle could go,there‘s some where the loser DOES wins.in alternate versions of the same battles,there are ones where picachu won,where beast won,where sam fisher,harry potter,knuckles,mario,luigi,felica,chun li,tommy oliver or boba fett all won instead,theres TWO where goku wins,im telling you now,if all death battle fans thought of it the same way i do,the comment sections of both goku vs superman battles would be a much MUCH nicer place to be

You can get grass types easy early on. Water makes the first gym easy, and fire is hard to find but is good for fourth and fifth gyms, not a lot of fire for seventh. Water can be found quickly, so fire wins.

It's really sad that some people think that those are actually the numbers for the percentage of the scenarios of which of the starters would win. It's literally impossible, Blastoise could barely do any damage to a Venusaur with the moves it gets from leveling up, and could only get Charizard with Hydro pump, which is inaccurate and would need more than one hit.

Before this Deathbattle, I usually went with Blastoise, though I've done quite well with Venasaur (you'd be surprised how well Venasaur fairs). I still went with Blastoise. I hated Charizard for the sole reason that he was way hard to train to beat the 1st 2 gyms & was easily defeated by a strong enough Rock, Electric, or Water move.

Venasaur has more health. Charizard attack. Blastoise defense. Blastoise had better stats, although too slow, and a great amount of defense to anything that could have done significant damage.
I always pick bulbasaur because hes strong against the first two gyms and resistant to the third.

If you think the starters are awesome you guys should try more complex battle techniques such as for example if you have a Rapidash you could have Sunny Day and when you use that move and if someone says ah I'll wash him out with my water Pokemon and when they switch out there Pokemon and when there thinking your a stupid Pokemon trainer you pull a Solar Beam on them and before they know it bam!
Then they react no how can this be!
Now that's how you take your friend or an online opponent down in a fight or you can use stat boosting moves such as Bulk Up to increase there Attack and Defense stats at the same time so you are well protected and as well you can pull them down with devastating moves such as Earthquake or Close Combat as an example.

now venusaur can be an equal to the other 2 and is definitely a good pokemon BUT back in the game boy days it was obviously the worst of the 3
1.*no moves*
the other 2 can learn almost every tm venusaur can learn plus more
2. *bad moves(no variety)*
Vensaur can only use normal and grass damaging attacks while the other 2 have 4 or 5 different types of damaging moves and all his best moves either makes him skip a turn or takes recoil damage while the others have better damaging attacks with no bad side effects (flamethrower, ice beam, blizzard, fire blast, mega kick, etc) body slam is its strongest move with not bad side affects.
3. *worst in gyms in the long run*
it might be the better one in the beginning BUT it gets worst after the 3rd gym and doesn't become useful till the last gym if you kept it long enough to that point cant do alot of damage in grass and poison gym (since all it has are weak grass moves and tackle) and is weak to the psychic and fire gym. and charz is only bad in the 1st 2 and last gyms and blast really only has to worry about 3rd and 4th

The only thing I find a load of crap is that it doesn't play by pokemon rules in the battle (ripping charizard's wings off, filling him with water, etc.). I am not saying the outcome was wrong, just that there is no reason to bring real world outcomes when it takes place in the same universe. As of everything in this is pokemon, play by the anime/game rules. If it was like some other death battles from different universes, yeah, "real world" needs to be taken into account to compare them. But, this is all in the world of pokemon, so there is no reason for real world comparison stuff to be taken into account in the battle.

You joking? It's a death battle animation, of course it's going to involve gore and blood. The only reason Pokemon doesn't have that stuff is because it's made by Nintendo. Your reasoning is dumb. Also making real world comparisons is how people determine the power of a character.
Meanwhile, in real life though, the combination of high speed, flight, and long distance attacks means that charizard would destroy the other two. Blastoise could hold him off a while with hydropump but he'd never hit, and eventually he too would go down.
DutchDread blastoise shell can withstand the atacks so charizard would have to go up close eventually giving blastoise the chance to atack him
Why? It's the close up attacks that the shell would be good against, doesn't help against being slowly cooked from a distance.

Squirtle is Medium,
Bulbasaur is easy.
