The biggest difference between Pokémon and Digimon is the scope of what a battle means.
In Pokémon, when you lose your Pokémon faints and you lose some money. You take them to a Poké center to get healed up and you try again.
In Digimon, when you lose *you die.* Digimon in the digital world fight to the death, meaning you don’t get a second chance. You either win, or get eaten by a bigger, stronger Digimon.
During the Digimon movie, Greymon tore off Parrotmon’s (10:18) wings because he was threatening Tai and his little sister, Kari. Even as an Agumon he tore apart a vending machine because Kari wanted something to drink, and accidentally blew up a bus stop because he thought the bus was trying to hurt her.
This combined with the fact that later in the movie, the team was trying to stop a Digimon virus hybrid from taking over the United States nuclear weapon deposit and subsequently _nuking Colorado and Japan_ - kinda speaks for itself.
Digimon is a different type of “intense” compared to Pokémon. This is why Tai straight up jumps Red, because while Red thinks it’s just another Pokémon battle for sport - Tai thinks Red is trying to kill his best friend.

I'm aware, the manga was epic. Charmeleon slicing Ekans in half is iconic for how brutal the manga can be. That and the melting Pokémon - that too.
Even the anime has its intense moments. The original movie has Mewtwo massacre an entire research laboratory after watching all of his clone friends die.
However, I'm referencing the games and anime, not the manga - which when compared to the Digimon anime and games, is not the same type of intense.

Something this battle doesn't focus on is the differences between Digimon Tamers and Pokemon Trainers.
Pokemon Training is a job and a hobby where Pokemon fight for sport.
Digimon Tamers usually only have one Digimon, and said Digimon is a friend, not a pet, and Digimon fights tend to be super brutal with Digimon getting killed in battle.
Also, Tamers can, and will, fight alongside their Digimon, hence why Tai straight up attacked Red.

It was the first time they did this I believe. The funny thing about all this is apparently they didn't see the final parts of the animation where the finisher happened, because the animator wasn't finished with it until like the day of or something. So they weren't prepared for it when it happened live.

I think someone may have already pointed it out but battling is much different between the Pokémon World and the Digital World.
In the Pokémon World, battling is something like a hobby or sport. And you typically battle to become stronger and become a top trainer. And if a Pokémon loses a fight, usually a Trainer can just take them to a Pokémon Center or use potions/revives to heal them up.
In the Digital World, battling is all about survival. While in human world, Digimon are usually bonded to their Tamer with a strong friendship. Though in the Digital World, they sort of roam around and live "wild" in a sense. And losing to a stronger opponent in the Digital World means you could most likely be killed or eaten.
So, on that note, Digimon are going to go all out in their battles because their use to losing possibly resulting in death. Though, there is also the difference in the relationship between human and monster in both worlds.
In the Pokémon World, Pokémon have been shown to have a level of sentience that does allow them communicate in their own way with their Trainers being able to understand and communicate with them. Though mostly the relationship is that of a Master/Pet or Master/Slave though some of the canon lore did depict that in the "olden times" in the Pokémon universe, relationships between Trainers and their Pokémon were potentially much more intimate. Yes, that is actually a canon thing in Pokémon lore, but to quote a nice RUclips series; "that's a story for another day." Still, losing a battle doesn't really mean death and since it is akin to a sport, Trainers aren't going to be jumping in to throwing hands alongside their Pokémon.
In The Digital World, the bond between Tamers and their Digimon are that of a strong friendship. And the strength of their bond can make their overall power stronger as well. And since to Digimon, losing could mean death, there is a good chance their Tamers would potentially find some way to fight along with them to keep their Digimon from potentially getting killed.

Plus, if you look at the Digimon Tamers show, a "Tamer" literally _did_ end up having their partner Digimon die outright. And it's not an off-screen death either, you actually _see_ said Digimon getting killed.
About the only times Digimon fights didn't end in death was during the initial File Island arc of the original anime, as most of the hostile Digimon were being controlled by Devimon's dark gears and thus were not in control of their actions, so those fights were more to free the afflicted Digimon than to just outright kill them.

    2. Digimon can slide all over the place, and from/to any stage of growth. Sometimes they can even become different Digimon of the same level in a process called Slide Evolution.

Yeah. In most cases, the relationship between a Trainer and their Pokemon has the Trainer as the one in charge. A Tamer and their Digimon however are best friends and equals, with neither being superior to the other, and a Tamer would do anything to help their Digimon and vice-versa. And while a Tamer usually only has one Digimon partner, there are rare instances of a Tamer having two or more Digimon partners (the protagonist of Digimon World: Next Order for instance has two Digimon partners rather than just one).

It did sting me seeing my favorite Pokémon die like that, but at least my 2nd favorite Digimon won. (The Guilmon line being my absolute favorite)
But hey, it’s all in good (morbid) fun of Death Battle.
And I know you didn’t ask about it, so I’ll just state this as a bit of trivia regarding the relationship between the 2 franchises.
Way back in the day, Digimon started out as like a Tamagatchi toy in Japan. Tamagatchi being these little devices that show little creatures you can take care of like a real life pet (play pretend basically). Meanwhile, Pokémon games and eventually anime came out a little bit after, and became a Worldwide Phenomenon. Digimon eventually did as well when it’s own anime came into being, but unfortunately, it just didn’t get a big enough following as Pokémon did, to the point where people just called it a Pokémon-ripoff. Thankfully that died over the past 2 decades, but Pokémon is obviously still going strong as a worldwide brand, while Digimon has had some rough spots here and there.
Digimon may not be as popular as Pokémon, but I believe Digimon outshines Pokémon in a lot of aspects. Like story and characters mostly.
If you want to make reaction videos (or just check out on your own time) to look deeper into these franchises, then I suggest KingK for Pokémon games and Billiam for Digimon anime as they have retrospectives for them.

I expected such reaction, coz difference is huge!
Everything starts from age rating: Pokemons have max 15+, but Digimons - 20+!
Pokemons are just like sportsmen only! They don't know much about how to survive or protect their homes! They also don't know what to do without a trainer! And if they die, they will not comeback.
But Digimons know who to do it, and when digimon is dieing, they will be turned into digi egg to be revived again!
Digimons are more warriors than Pokemons! They are more like humans than pokemons. They can talk, eat, cook, dance and etc. like humans!
They have access to all languages, so they can speak freely! For example, Floramon like French more than the others, coz she thinks it is most lovely and beautiful language.
So, having a Digimon it is like you have another sister or brother from other world!
Will be cool if you will start watching Digimons with eng subs, coz dub is not very good! Plus. You can also play in Smash or Pass or you can make a Tier List, especially for DigiWaifus!😊

Digimon also works with Neoplatonic Emanationism.
    What does Neoplatonic Emanationism mean?
The adopted concept of Platonism is that there is a higher reality, a true abstract existence that is responsible for all that is individual to exist. The concept of emantionism is that there are in fact innumerable layers of reality, one more abstract than the other, but in the end with all arising from a single higher and absolute layer.According to Emanationism, Creation occurs by a process of
emanation - "out-flowing". The entire cosmos, and even all the gods and godheads beyond the cosmos, have come about through emanation. Just as the ocean forms its surface into waves, so the absolute forms create successive manifestations, successive entities. And these in turn create - or rather, emanate - further entities, and so on, with all these entities combining and interacting in the extraordinary network of existence.
Emanationism is an idea in the cosmology or cosmogony of certain religious or philosophical systems. Emanation, from the Latin emanare meaning "to flow from" or "to pour forth or out of", is the model by which all things are derived from the first reality, or principle.
All things are derived from the first reality or perfect God by steps of degradation to lesser degrees of the first reality or God, and at every step the emanating beings are less pure, less perfect, less divine.
One could think of the relationship between each of these levels as being like "body and soul", "spirit and matter", or "creator and creature", in that each higher level is the soul, spirit, and creator of the level immediately below it; and the body, matter, and creature (created being) of the level immediately above it. The inhabitants of the higher worlds act like the souls of those in the lower worlds. (imgur.com/a/60iJBPJ)
Basically the structure of existence is divided into several layers with a physical and metaphysical difference between the layers. To each level of existence, there is a higher level with this physical/metaphysical difference. Our physical bodies have
souls, souls have other souls (I will call it the second soul), the second soul has a third soul, and so on. Digimon follows the same cosmology, the world is structured in a multi-layered hierarchy. When it comes to Digimon's cosmology, the worlds are not simply side-by-side of each other (or all over the place). Digimon goes by a world hierarchy (that have been called layers, levels, etc), meaning the worlds go vertically, up and down. The Human World for example is a part of that hierarchy, and it happens to be at the very bottom.
The worlds of the Human World would be side-by-side, horizontally. With the worlds of the Digital World also existing horizontally within its layers (the DW is made up of various layers), but the entire Digital World itself is beyond the Human World (all of them) because it's in a hierarchical position superior to it. Due to the Human World being at the very bottom, any world that's a part of the hierarchy (layers beyond the HW) would be beyond the Human World. This can start before even touching the Digital World. The Human World is your classic infinite multiverse.
Every possible world has emerged in a multi-layered way...and the worlds quite similar yet different to one another lie side-by-side. ( imgur.com/a/rTO5DYx )
In short, it's nothing akin to universes in parallel to one another, which a superficial knowledge of all this stuff would lead to, nor is it the difference in between the Real and the Virtual/Digital, posited by the V-Pets and by anything following the lore of the V-Pets, but the relationship between a higher plane of existence and the one that's emanated from it. It's vertical, not horizontal. The Digital World is a plane of existence in which the otherwise poorly defined "soul", or the essence, of humans can take physical form.
I've used this example elsewhere but I guess I can use it here as well. This example uses "threads" and "posts" on sites.Imagine each thread to be a layer (such as this one), with the posts within each thread being universes. The layers are a part of the world hierarchy.
They're obviously many threads on the first page, with each one being a layer with universes within them. The lowest thread would be the lowest layer, equivalent to the Human World. Each post within this thread (layer) would be universes/timelines. This layer alone is basically your classic infinite multiverse. It would be the lowest, smallest, etc, layer. Each thread (layer) is superior to the last. So the second to the last thread would be superior, and the one above that would be superior to everything below it. This goes on until the very top.
You might be able to see each "page" as another collection of worlds, such as the Homeros' Digital World, the third Digital World, possibly Witchelny, etc. These worlds should be in a similar position to Yggdrasill's Digital World, which transcends the Human World (so Yggdrasill's DW would be beyond a HW, Homeros' DW would be beyond a HW, etc). In fact, according to Re Digitize (Decode), they're a variety of Digital Worlds, and all of them transcend the Human Worlds (each should have a Human World below them). We don't know how many layers would make up those worlds though (we don't know much about these worlds in general. Most worlds we've seen have been a part of Yggdrasill's DW).I believe verses like Umineko and the Dark Tower use similar logic with layers.

What's important is that today we learnt about true friendship, through explicit murder of kids 😅

Warp digivolving here is kinda overkill in my opinion. MetalGreymon could have easily take Charizard on.

Yes, but it was to give more excitement to the fight and they still did not use the bond of valor form or the new metal greymon 2020 mode

Hehehe, this was very interesting, I recommend Renamon vs Lucario at some point.
Also, I recommend Tanjiro vs Jonathan and/or SpongeBob SquarePants vs Aquaman at some point.

Pokemon was inspired by animals, while Digimon was partially inspired by superheroes (which is why even t-rexes look like they do arm curls). Pitting a Pokémon against a Digimon is like pitting the most dangerous animal you know of against Superman.
