I disagree with Izzard about the double entendre being ad libbed. It was set up from the whole conversation, homeless squirrels, pockets full of nuts etc. Can you get it working showed their genius, they rehearsed to a fine tuned machine, the fact they looked spontaneous just testifies to their skill and lightness of touch.
Was Eddie a transvestite before his mother passed on tragically? i wonder you see whether or not he keeps the memory of his mother close in the form of female regalia, maybe started subconsciously, i dunno, just a guess :) i know he lost his mum early and he loved her so.
I can understand why their humour never went down well in America given the ultra slick comedy routines prevalent there in the 1960s on prime time TV. Also M &W's humour was really very British eg it included large elements of irony and self deprecation which American humour didn't contain. Personally I only ever enjoyed M & W in small doses. For me theirs was the type of humour which made me smile rather than laugh. Perhaps it was a generational thing - I was a teenager from the early 1970s.
Two of the greatest comics of our generation paying homage to two of the greatest comics from the previous generation. Thanks so much!
Magic, 4 of my favorite comedians "in a tube", we like it! :-D

I'm so glad that I am not the only one who gets the first letters of my words mixed up, lmao, xxxx

thanks!
What programme was this from?
In an interview his father spoke about eddie trying on his mother's dresses when he was a toddler, so it's probably something inborn.
Eddie Izzard, when he actually had something to say!
What?

To a certain point tho. They start with a finely tuned machine but they could adjust things based on the live audience.
Paper on the head was ad lib. It was a mix. They were capable of going off script
@dharmaseed Two surrealists running the show as well. Trips into the mind are becoming as fashionable as trips abroad.
