  • Geiger counter from Banggood.
    see inside video for updated components list with descriptions.
    Disclaimer: my components list edit may in fact not be correct.
    I've done everything I can to make sure it's correct.

    Dude you like your Geiger counters.

      🤣🤣🤣 I have a geiger fetish !

      I saw a purple 💜 one I thought I might buy it ! Now your making me feel guilty ! 😆😅

      I guess the reason for buying geiger counters was because there was a debate about Australia going nuclear.
      That's why I became interested in nuclear power and the risks.

    The Geiger tube is installed incorrectly. Pay attention to the positive and negative poles

      Okay, yes you are correct thanks for noticing that. I turned it around I hope it's not damaged.

    There's nothing wrong with the detector. Americium is primarily an alpha emitter. Alpha particles don't travel very far and are easy to stop. If you want to get a reading, you'll have to remove the plastic shroud and put the americium button directly against the Geiger tube.

      Ha ha I had forgotten all about alpha, beta and gamma radiation and how far they penetrate through materials. Yes you are correct it's not going to give a very high reading on Americium because of the type of isotope that it is. I funny that you commented today because yesterday I walked past a shop and thought I wonder if they have any old radioactive ☢️ watches, or crockery that I could use to to test my geiger counters. 🤔 Anyway thanks for the comment. Most appreciated. 👍

      The M4011 Geiger tube can't detect alpha. Alpha can't even wear a piece of A4 paper. 4011 can only capture beta and gamma. A large amount of alpha can be detected with mica window tubes, and the alpha measurement in the smoke sensor is very powerful

      @@decem_unosquattro9538 In the 1960s and 1970s, aircraft instruments or dials of military equipment would use a mixture of radioactive substances and phosphors for luminous effects

      yes I read years ago that alpha particals theoretically cannot penetrate a piece of paper or human skin. I didn't realise my folly until much later after I had made the video. 😄😆

      Mica tubes okay that's interesting. 🤔

    This is the shape I designed, but this circuit board is imitated, not made by me

    • @decem_unosquattro9538
      @decem_unosquattro9538  Год назад

      Are you saying this board is not the original and in fact it was you that designed and made this board?

    • @decem_unosquattro9538
      @decem_unosquattro9538  Год назад

      This makes me angry because what I think I bought was or is a bait and switch product.
      It's like a counterfeit product which is most probably inferior to the original board.
      In this case maybe it was you that designed the original geiger counter which is what I thought I was getting. 🤔

      @@decem_unosquattro9538 Yes, I happened to see the video you released and found that it was not the board I made, but it was highly similar in appearance. The material may not be as good as mine, but it can still achieve the desired effect. After all, the electrical schematic diagram is the same. In addition to the cover tube, the most expensive component on the board is the power switch. My kit uses copper switches. The resistance pin made in Taiwan is copper with a diameter of 0.5mm. Other components are also of high quality and reliable performance

      I don't understand what you mean by cover tube? Geiger tube?
      I liked the original pcb and its a pity they didn't send me what I thought I was buying. It's despicable and it just creates bad feeling and maybe reluctance to buy more diy kits and other electronic components.
      Shematic - I don't know because I didn't get the legit one advertised on AliExpress. :(
      This radiation detector is okay I guess.
      I like the switch on this one it looks like good quality.

      "Copper switches" I guess you mean the internal mechanical contacts. 🤔

    As the original author of the black circuit board, I want to tell you that P2 can't be short-circuited. It should be a battery-powered input port. The blue adjustable potentiometer is used to adjust the suitable working voltage for different Geiger tubes. If you can, please tell me your WeChat or QQ number, we can communicate with each other
