Man, someone tried to hotrod this PC in the mode of "OLD OFFICE PC BECOMES A GAMING RIG" guides. 20GB total ram, a GT730 DDR3 was a poor choice for gaming though. A low profile 750Ti would have made it game harder. More for you though since they donated it, good find.
HP use this same exact case and port layout on the back up till the Intel 3rd gen series so even if they look the same as Core 2 Duo ones you can actually find a 2nd or 3rd gen i5 in them at least. The only thing that differentiates the old ones from the new ones is the HP logo. If the HP logo on the faceplate and cover is square shaped like the in the video it can't be newer than a 1st gen at max but if the logo is round shaped it's definetly 2nd or 3rd gen inside it. Also since the hard drives are missing in these things you can find spare hard drive mounting screws if you take the faceplate off
Those old cpus usally dont have a problem with ecc ram. You could even mod 775 to 771 to be compatible with xeon cpus. I think the ecc stick came with this system You cant mix ecc and non ecc ram. I hope you havent thrown away this like 50€ 16gb stick 🙈
Dude that machine is perfect for everyday use...Internet etc...and some light gaming....(older titles like half life etc.) for 20 bucks its a steal.
Good find!
Thanks!
