Lol I can totally relate to this even though I'm caucasian. I come from Yorkshire, UK. And Yorkshire folk are very money conscious too lol.
I also come from Yorkshire in the UK and and confirm northern English and specifically Chinese parents hold pretty much the same values lol (the family i grew up next to are asian so we pretty much shared parents between the 8 of us kids)

What a blessing to be able to give back to your parents after they have provided for you throughout life. I think this is every child’s dream! I am gonna do this for my sweet Dad who raised me and my sister, of course convincing him is also hard! He retired and less than a year later went back to work bc he couldn’t handle not working. Godspeed on your parents trip 🙏
Your mom feeds you veggies because you don't eat them otherwise and she knows you can't tell her 'no'. And, if I can suggest something, book your parent's rooms for them and meet your parents in Paris, etc. and take them around to all the great places they would love to see and eat.

The best way to make friends is through food. Learning about the foods of a country is not only fun but tasty. We try different restaurants all over Arizona, get to know the owners and staff and talk about how they came up with recipes. We are blessed with many shops to buy and make the foods we fall in love with like Dim sum and dumplings. You're the best Mikey, what a wonderful gift you gave to your parents.
