STARTING THE HEAVY FUEL OIL PURIFIER

This video it's about the fuel oil purifying system which you will find on, almost, every ship. Same as the fuel that a car uses, the fuel onboard has some contaminants. So to remove the water and the other mechanical impurities from it, the fuel oil purifier it's the best choice. There are many makers of purifiers, the one that I found onboard is Alfa Laval.
This is not a "how to" video.

I am an Graduate Marine Service Engineer for Alfa Laval. I must say that the video was well done. Nice job with the EPC 60. Next time, turn the music down a little and more of the machine noise and showing the gauges and three way divert valve.

I have been sailing as marine engineer in chemical tanker and gas carrier frm last 25 years .. perhaps one of the best vedios of the separator... no useless speech..... and the complete music ,and no conversation is the beauty of the vedio....fantastic job ...

The back pressure should be about 2 bars ? It is the same for all hfo purifiers or it depends of the manufacturer ? Which is the best way to set the flow control and the back pressure correct to ensure that there will be no overflow and loss of fuel and the purifier will operate normaly without that kind of alarms. I will appreciate your answers guys ! Thank you.

The correct back pressure usually depends on the manufacturers. To control back pressure just regulate the clean oil outlet valve, closing will increase back pressure and vice versa.

Back pressure is the throughput .. the pressure of clean oil that exits from purifier and goes to service tank
