    kids will be kids thats all I have to say, it's up to the parents to educate their kids about how to properly express the pride they have for their heritage

    @calman1951 Montebello High School, despite what most people think, is actually a very mellow place and the administration has done a really good job. I was there when this happened, as a student, all of us were inside teh school as kids from OTHER SCHOOLS did this.

    I grew up in Montebello and this was shameful. It is my understanding that many of these students were not in fact
    Montebello students. Regardless, this was shameful.

    I'm glad to see other Americans of Mexican heritage standing up and saying they don't agree with this.When people see a video like this it gives everyone of that background a bad name. More Latinos need to stand up and be proud Americans.

    The Great Potato Famine of 1845-1849, Irish people immigrated to the US searching for jobs and opportunities. The Irish immigrants faced prejudice, both from being Roman Catholics and from being poor. Protestants, frightened by allegations of a catholic conspiracy to take over the country formed mobs and constantly harassed them. Other people resented the irish for their willingness to work for cheap labor.
    See there are very close parallels between the two immigrants.

For a more up to date series of event go to the recent RUclips production named: Montebello High School, Ca K.I.A.Vets Event May 23, 2014. Me personally,I treat everyone with respect, but thats just the way I was raised. I am half German and American. I was raised in the military lifestyle in which I had to move around a lot overseas. I have many friends over the world of many different races and ethnicities. I have a higher level of tolerance than most people. So i guess that all i can say is sorry that not everyone in the States is as nice as I am.

    I'm not a pot head and Im mexican. In fact I know plenty of non pot head mexicans. You can't just generalize people by what you see. Thats like me generalizing all white people are racist. Its untrue, some of my best friends are white and they hang around mexicans all the time.

    I was there that day it happened and saw the whole thing. First of all Montebello High was put on lock down when they heard of the agitators coming. The kids you see in the photos were not Montebello students. they were students from El Rancho, Whittier and Pioneer. As soon as the agitators were cleared out the flag was quickly fixed. they had done much damage to our school and the property around it. This incident was not our fault.

    @wwefanworld dude (or dudette, quite possibly. idk), i'm Mexican and i think what happened in this school is wrong, i think the American flag should fly over all. i love this country and all of the liberties it has given me and my family. i think ur wandering a little too far. were not all 'degenerates' my friend, my father and my uncle served in the military for all of their life and 2 of my cousins are in Iraq. one just made captain. everyone needs a chillpill-stop with racism on both sides.

    To the students and their sympathizers.. Get it straight. If you were born in Mexico than you are Mexican. If you were born in the United States you are a United States Citizen AKA American. You may be of Mexican Ancestry but you are still an American so... Embrace this country or move to Mexico.... Oh yea, Mexico doesn't want you just your dollars.

    at least he "picked a side?" You logic is also flawed. how do you know they are from mexico? Secondly, if they aren't from mexico- with your own logic about timothy mcvay- arent they "picking a side too?" Iam not saying it is right or justified. i definitely don't agree with it & their anger is displaced. But if there is a large majority like folks such as yourself who let's face it, historically, just want to oppress any group for whatever reason- people rise & have enough.

  • @jarmen71
    @jarmen71 14 лет назад

    What these students did was irresponsible and only hurt the possibility of some type of resolution when it comes to immigration. It is alright to love ones heritage but it a totally different thing to disrespect the very country that is giving you an education and freedoms you may not have had otherwise. I am of Hispanic heritage 5th generation American and was ashamed by this display. These types of acts only fuel a fire of ignorance and intolerance. That should not have been allowed to happen!

    Richard Barnes the author of this video/slide show aka "Rich31442" was a 1961 Oiler Grad. Richard Passed Away 2 years ago. One small incident by a small group of misguided individuals. The truth is that these activists came and left within 1/2 an hour. The correct flags were hoisted back up and that's it. The faculty, student body, and the police all did the right things. Again the School was on Lock Down and any violation of this Law/Policy would have put the school in legal jeopardy. .

I'm not attacking you- i'm just astonished that you would call another country a "pig pit." that's is our problem- very egocentric. How can that be if the history of that particular ethnicity has been settled in the southwest since before the spanish conquest & certainly before the english colonies. I don't think it's an accident all the names of the states are in spanish. Also, mr. smart, all the "native americans" in the south west are mexican indians. other than that, ur good
