The Wytches' furious, hair-flinging psych-rock isn't the stuff of back-porch acoustic sessions: Both live and on the English band's singles, the energy is so intense, it can barely be contained. But when NPR Music arranged a Wytches session during SXSW - held in the charming backyard setting of Friends & Neighbors in east Austin - singer-guitarist Kristian Bell stood in for the whole band, with just his voice and an acoustic guitar.
In these three songs from the forthcoming Annabel Dream Reader - due out this summer - Bell splits the difference between The Wytches' wiry raggedness and the gentler side dictated by both the setting and his instrument. Surrounded by a small throng of locals and their kids, Bell proved worthy of the most bucolic setting he's likely to play this year.--STEPHEN THOMPSON

Yeah it’s weird isn’t it? Most under rated Band and last album is great and they are AMAZING live. Kristians solo stuff is also legit

Heard this a long time ago, like 4-5 years ago, loved it, forgot about the band, then now they randomly popped into my head, and im falling in love again. His voice, the lyrics, the guitar, just everything is so exquisite.

kristian's best live performance imo and this recording is so clean; it's refreshing to hear this stuff without it being soaked in reverb

Give this kid sometime . Just watched them on Paladia , Field Day Festival 2014 . Went through the line up list of the concert to find the name of this band. Solid lyrics , Yes, there is Jack White. But Stevie Ray sounded like Jimi .Why, because he admired him. Dave from Janes's sound like Jimmy from Zepp. Same reason . Give this kid time. He and the band are in the right space at the right rime. There is that Gen D out there.

First time I've heard of the lead singer or the band but I loved it. The music, the video, the lyrics, the sound in general... captivating. Really enjoyed it.
The full band live are great. Like a garage version of nirvana soaked in reverb.
