Very nice brother! OLE Gatekeeper here! I'm glad I ran across your channel brother! Really like your content and you have a nice following man. Very impressive....you love this hobby and I can tell you do. Can't wait to catch up on some more of your videos I've missed out on. Thomas from Gatekeeper Amps 73
The reason those channels are mixed up from 23 to 25 ETC ETC is the frequency allocations mix up on the binary codes , it's the same on the regular 40 channel radio charts also , .... the added channels will read out different as well...
Here a year later and I had no intention of buying another base right now, then out of the blue, one of my very best friends son called me. His dad was my best friend for years, passed away last November. His last radio was the Galaxy 2547. His son came here today and brought me that radio and D104. His dad told him to take that one and put it up as he knew his time was short. He said his dad told him that if he ever gets rid of that radio, it goes to me. So, I have one now. He had installed the channels and 10kc. He placed his switches on the bottom. I will have it out in the shop soon. Hope to holler at you one day. 73's
Beautyfull Radio ... we are in Poland frequency with 000 raser 27.000 .. ( 4ch) when we add 30pF capacitor to XTAL .. WE HAVE 7 EXTRA CHANNELS .. 3A..7A...11A..15A and 40A ... beetween anothers channels hi ... 73!
You may find there are 5 "channels" that skip like you find between 19 & 20. You will see that is why you don't get 27.415... there is a skip between 11&12...
My wife just inherited her late father's CB setup. One of these radios, a couple of meters, and a Tennessee Walker 2-tube amp that I know absolutely nothing about.
Ben careful that a same model and brand are used and sometimes the color pattern wires are not the same but need to check placement in the harness plugs can't trust the colors always same but placement is 99+ % correct if use a different brand all goes to wind
@@MowerJunkie I'm not getting ANYTHING up my way. I got my RCI RG-99 back from the shop and haven't had an opportunity to test it out. No skip, no locals.
Are those two switches just plain-old two way switches? Did you add anything inline like a cap or diode? I had my old Navahoe done in the 80's with a switch in the back. Up and down with "off" in the middle. Trouble was, you needed a road map since there wasn't a freq counter. They said they put in a diode. Thanks for the vid. Gianni♥
those skipped channels are the A version or buffers originally set up when radio was only 23 channel capable in " the day" if you get a 10+ kc slide capable tune you will get those channels back my 1 st " adjusted" radio I had clarifier opened to just over 11 down from center allowing any and all channels as I had full channels put in there were no misses left just bit confusing when no freq counter inline and using road map notes 398 wi badger state hope all are healthy and wealthy and wise
Remember to try keeping those extensions short as possible cause freq shift so leaving in front was probably best choice Personally I would prefer using switches already on face that are not readily used like the ch 9 toggle and the anl nb switches leaving the factory wiring in off or perm on allowing uses of the face switches. Also 11 to 12 has A channel like the 3A old rule cb spacing from the 1960s leaving about 6 chan's from 1 to 23 as buffers to lighten co channel bleed in the older style radios
I really like those radios too John . They’re beautiful !! I’d definitely keep it too ! Nice mod 👍 How does it perform on SSB ? Does it have the famous Galaxy drift or does this model stay on freq ? And a good receiver and clarifier for fine tuning signals ?
What you do you add a little black box on the side and you run your wires out in between the two side cabinet screws you drill a 1/8 inch hole and you run them four wires out in between the two chassis crews and then you go to your switch on the box
Awesome mod mower junkie I have couple radio with the mods but I don’t have a frequency counter I dot know what channel I’m on 73 from eastern Newfoundland Canada
It's a shame that cutting the wire doesn't activate "Hidden bands" instead of having to add switches. Being that radio is in such nice shape.Oh web at least we can go where it's more quiet when you'r on that radio...
They were never designed like the old Cherokee brand or the current crop of "world band" radios that have every CB allocation in the world pre-programmed.
Do you know how to do that to on a president Washington base I got one that I bought the guy and he goes up to 28 MHz I want to go to the lower and upper channels I don’t have anybody can work on it I wish there’s a way that you could look at it for me I wish there was a way they got a switch on it it just it’s not right it’s in like the clarifier is off I just don’t understand it I don’t want to mess it up it’s a good Washington radio and a good halfway decent shape I’d like to get it fixed for extra channels
The Washington is a lot harder to get the extra channels. it can be done, but you should let a professional do it. I hope you can get it all setup, the Washington is an awesome radio.
@@MowerJunkie Yeah I like it it’s easy and simple but we have nobody up my area works on them and don’t have the money to really get it fixed right now I’ll try to figure it out somehow I just wish people would not mess with it when they don’t know what they’re doing I had a one guy fix a switch for me because I couldn’t find the right switch for it but he could so he fixed it for me for nothing but still it’s it’s got to 28 MHz in it I don’t need it
@@MowerJunkie I agree. I just got a brand new in the box dx2547 with a build date of 2001. It was off frequency, I adjusted that and it talks great. The channels are "missing" and/or "out of order" because the channel selector is following the original logic map. I had one of those given to me, and it impressed me so much that I sold it at a hamfest. I have a bunch of other radios, like an ICOM R-70, or a SDR, if I want to listen to static, and at this point of the sunspot cycle that's all there is.

You can add a 10kc switch to pick up your missing frequencies.

Nice job buddy!
I’ve paid for channels so many times. It looks so easy to do. Gonna try it on an old radio and see if it works. Thanks

Need the 10kc jump, I'm sure you know there is also 11A channel probably why you aren't seeing 41.
Nice radio though 👍🏼
I just did this to my 2547 today. Works great, added 2 toggle switches on the top lid. Question.. is SSB functionality usable with the new channels?
Let me ask you a question regarding a realistic trc 448. Does one of the meter lights reflect modulation on AM?
Wow so cool 👍
My Texas Ranger TR-966 has extra channels. Problem is, nobody around me ever uses them.
wait til you move down here, those extra channels will definitely get used. I was on 42 and 48 all day yesterday.

John. Can that modification be done with a cobra 29 NW/ST ?It doesn't have the extra digital readout though.
I'm not sure if the 29 NW can be modified. for My Galaxy, I did a Google search and found all the info I needed. Thanks for watching, 73's
No.
If you can find an old/new stock Expo A+ kits, it will work. 40 lower channels, 40 higher channels, total 120 ch.

the DX 2547 is a simple 2 switch conversion, no extra parts needed.

it is a nice radio, But I don't think it's worth what it's currently selling for. Take care Anthony, 73's from Mr and Mrs Mower Junkie.

Is it possible to add channel scan & WX weather channels?
