GLOWING Lines / Black + White Color Change! DecoArt Iridescent SHIMMER / Abstract Fluid Art

- I love these magical color changing iridescent DecoArt acrylic paints. They react when they are mixed with a dark color and when they dry this is a WOW!! This is like a multicolored colorful geode or agate when you really look at all of the lines and the patters created. This is quite a dark creation BUT when that light hits the canvas you can see so much detail.

Tutorial Information and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
▶️Technique for this Tutorial: Double Ring Pour
▶️Pouring Medium formula (unless otherwise stated in the video): My paints are mixed with paint, water and a pouring medium (Floetrol Owatrol) with a ratio of 1:0.5:2 - You may have to adjust your ratios depending on the paint brands you use.
Note: Floetrol Owatrol is thicker than the US version of Flood Floetrol so you might not need the water element when mixing your paints.
▶️Cell Activator: When I use a cell activator, I use Australian Floetrol and Titanium White with the ratio of 4:1 - You can experiment with other alternatives like Silicone Oil, Vegetable glycerin, pre-stain wood conditioner or even just paint and water.
▶️Color Palette for this Creation (Brand and Color Name):
DecoArt Americana Enchanted Shimmer - Blue, Gold, Magenta, Violet, White, Green.
Royal Talens Amsterdam: Lamp Black
▶️Hair dryer: When I use a hair dryer I use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting and the lowest blow speed.

I just ordered those from Decoart tonight. They are on clearance for a steal. I glad you gave me something to go by for mine.
Oh bargain!! I saw the sale 🤩
Very nice! I definitely love the moodiness of the piece: however, when in the light, it definitely brings out all the shimmering colors. It is truly a dramatic creation;. Thanks for sharing all the info. Denise ❤
Thank you so much Denise 💜💜💜

Very nice! It is dark but its got an elegance of dark that will look awesome on a light colored wall. Great video & its definitely a design u can tweek for different looks !!

Vous avez réussi votre coup...La réaction des peintures irisées avec le noir est parfaite et le rendu en témoigne❤Belle pièce...Bravo Grand Mark❤❤
Thank you 🤩 I appreciate your support
I love me some mark! This one needs resin!!!
Yay! Thank you so much ☺️
I like rocks, so obviously I saw geodes (the depth of the pour had me leaning more toward geodes). When you were pouring, it was like you were messing with the space/time continuum because everything became elongated. Our trip to space brought me back to an agate. It was very cool to watch you stretch it.
I should say upfront that I have complex PTSD. My world can be very dark and that was the first impression I had of the piece. But as we looked closer, the lines of color brought in hope. They’re not big bright lines, but subtle, glorious lines that make you really look at them.
A week or so ago, we had a foot of snow. I looked at my car and knew there was no way I was going to be able to clear that out. So, I dejectedly went back to bed. Later the landlord called me and said that he and his son had cleared off my car and if I moved it across the street, they’d clear off my parking pad. I was thrilled. Here I thought the world was dark, but I saw a beautiful line of hope in my landlords’ actions. So instead of being a dark painting, I am taking it as a reminder to look for beauty and kindness. It may not be jumping up and down screaming “Look at me”, but rather something stunning just waiting to be noticed.
Thank you so always being so open with us and sharing your thoughts and experiences
So lovely ♡♡
Thanks 🤩
Très très jolie wow love it ❤
Oh merci beaucoup ! 🤩
Mark, this piece is so precious!!! The shimmering of the iridescent paint does its magic in the light. The colours look like a water puddle with some running drops oil or petrol in the sun. The design with all the details is absolutely stunning and the pattern really looks like wood of an old tree. You should try a similar one with browns, copper and bronze. I bet it would look like real wood.
Anyway, you did another great job and the video was so much fun to watch 🖒💖
Thank you so much! Great color suggestions im going to try them 🤩
Love this ,can't wait to try it. Waiting for my enchanted paints to be delivered ❤
Have fun! Warning: it becomes addictive haha 😛
@MarkJRatcliffeArt 🤣
Very pretty Mark! I love it.
Thanks so much Ramona 🤩💙
Northern lights? The aurora ?
Ohhh yes 🙌🏻
M,ark, this ia awesome. You have inspired me to experiment with paint. I have been mixing paints and using ink in my paintings.
Your creativity is on fire! Go Holly 🤩
@MarkJRatcliffeArt i just posted a painting in Facebook. It was done with paint and ink
I really love it in the light, but without light ....I don't know - maybe it's to dark for me.
Thank you 🤩
hello Mark, i was looking into the abyss before you opened it up, was the 2nd pour closest to you👍
Thank you so much. ☺️ oh yes I see it!!

I haven’t been paying much attention to acrylic pouring this last month because Hubs got me resin supplies for Christmas, I had forgotten I set up a resin wish list at one point. Now I’ve been watching resin videos to refresh myself with it. I’ve missed the acrylic world, I’m going to try to do both. I’ve missed seeing you and your creations! Although this is dark I love it with subtle colors. What would happen if you mixed the colors with black and used white where you used black? Would the colors show through the black? What if you used a cell activator, oh my there are so many questions and potential possibilities. Now I have to go watch some of the videos I’ve missed to get my fix, lol.
Have fun when you start experimenting. And welcome back to fluid art 🖼️
WOW, that is absolutely amazing! I am not familiar with that type of paint, but do you think if you used titanium white instead of black that the colors would show through?
Probably not as it’s about light reflection but please try and let me know 👍🏻
You mentioned tree bark. Does the under paint have to be black or could you use brown shades ?
Dark shades are best 👍🏻
You must have gallons of Amsterdam lamp black paint sitting around your studio!
Haha it’s the only black I use
What is vegetable glycerin
Vegetable glycerin is a clear and odourless liquid. It is derived from a combination of soy and coconut oil. Vegetable glycerin is obtained through a process called hydrolysis, in which the oils go through an extraction process with water at high pressure and temperature.
@MarkJRatcliffeArt what else can you use it for, so I know what to buy in the U.S. thank you for your responses. I want to try what you do. Have a beautiful day 🌞 Hello from New Hampshire, U.S.
What would happen if you'ld use a lighter color instead of black? I'll give that a try!
Have fun 🤩
Qual o segredo se vc só usou preto e branco. Ele muda p várias cores
These are iridescent paints so they react with light
So do you think these paints worked as well as the Amsterdam brand? They must be thinner, maybe 🤷🏼♀️
It sounds funny but they are so different from each other tbh
I love all the lines, like you said "like a tree trunk".🙂 Beautiful Mark!! Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a wonderful day. 😀💖
Great colors in the lines. Love experimenting with these new colors. Thank you so much for sharing.
Man sieht das Innenleben von einem Baumstamm , für mich zu viel schwarz
Does it HAVE to be black??? It's a little too dark for me😢,in your opinion, would a dark purple work too or even a darker blue??? Why won't the colors react to white ?? Maybe a little less black in between the colors would lighten it up when dry???
No not always black but darker colors will help those type of paints react as it’s all about how light reacts.
Amsterdam Pearl Colors work fine with dark blue, I have tried them. So I guess it would work with any iridescent color brand.
