The thing i have always questioned why Quaker holy sites are mostly in Alaska. I know they set up some meetings up there and even boarding schools to assimilate the natives there. But I would have loved to see Fountain city, Indiana (I don’t know if it is in the mod or not) as a holy site as it's home to Levi Coffins House (He was Quaker and Abolitionist who was sometimes called the president of the underground railroad and would often hide slaves in his home and his house would eventually be turned into a museum)
Honestly the east coast needs a Quaker whaling faith. Nantucket was the whaling capitol of the world and I’d imagine in a post event world they’d maybe try to go back to their roots
@@Soul_Tomato I like a lot of the changes that the Steam release brought to the New England area (like the inclusion of the Mayflower Society as a radical Americanist faith, because Boston absolutely loves the idea of the Revolutionary war in real life haha) but I really wish they leaned harder into New England (Boston in particular) as being a messy religious melting pot for dozens of faiths -- Americanists imitating the Pilgrims, Lovecraftian cults for Dagon and Cthulhu and Hastur and Nyarlathotep who think that Lovecraft and Stephen King were writing sacred scriptures, a coven of Cyberdyne witches at MIT trying to commune with the ancient war-god Raytheon, Jesuits trying to carry on some education-related version of Christianity (maybe working with the Ursalines in Canada)... there are so many options for goofy religions to base their beliefs off of, it feels a shame to only have a couple choices haha
The Sarah Palin saying was a skit from SNL (99% sure it was SNL), which is crazy, because everyone swears its something she actually said until you show them the skit.
Very enjoyable video. When I saw the title of the video at first I didn't really think anything interesting or fun could be found in Alaska. It appears I was mistaken as some form of orthodox revival in Alaska post apocalypse is really interesting. Does anyone know why the empure title in the area is Beringia? Is it a reference to the Bering Strait?
For the Bering question: that is very likely why. Also the faith is already very prominent among the Aleut so it makes sense it would survive there considering how remote a place that is. No reason to attack or bother it. No reason they wouldn’t survive.
Oh very interesting. I am not from the US and therefore do not really know a lot about the religions in the US (it mostly looks like every town has their own interpretation of Christianity) and I made the connection between the Russian colonisation of Alaska and the faith being present there. I assumed the orthodox church died out in Alaska like the Russian language did. Thank you for the information
That ending though... "I let the AI handle this easy piece-of-cake war that should have been over in three months tops.... aaaaand my kingdom has shattered." Yeah, that sounds about right for the AI hahahaha
It's not on the map to start, but "United Orthodox" is in AtE now. It's available to convert to (which I want to make a goal for my Alaskan Taborist playthrough)
Palin is from Wasilla.. She still can't see Russia from her backyard though LOL. This was my first playthrough after YOU introduced me to the mod, I'm from Kodiak myself. Thank you as always!
Fun place to play, for sure. If it was me since it's an island/maritime start I probably would've tried to go south along the coast moreso than inland and raided even further south.
@@Soul_Tomato I was influenced to play ATE thanks to your video and the game crashed when I was playing the Gothamite nation when I went on a pilgrimage to Washington.
You shouldn't move your capitol to an island. You want to sit your steward on it increasing development, which increases development of your same-culture bordering counties. If you don't spam "promote culture" you only need a handful of provinces to be developed in order to max your research bonus.
Imma be real I never play optimally or long enough on these runs to actually use the mechanics to the fullest because I don’t usually care to play games like that. However, that is good to know for the future so thanks!
Alaska is such a cool start in after the end, love too see it

i really wish after the end incorporated a more true to form orthodox christian faith like they did for catholics
I think they’re adding them
There is an “Old Believers” faith in the newest steam version. But what do you think the true to form Catholics are? Cuz it isn’t Tridentine lol

Really wish my job didnt prevent me from fleshing out Taborism. I was the main guy for a bit of the lore for a hot minute
Well I’m a fan of what you managed to do
You should play a custom character based on the Third Odyssey where a Byzantine Emperor escaped to the new world
Next run I have planned will be as the united arsenalists but maybe eventually!

I plan to eventually :) love me some Appalachia

I only remembered her because I saw Russia lol
At 20:12 Pilgrimage starts along with Homm 4 floating across water theme , wow

I was having the same issues with crashing while playing with the Haida people Idk whats up
I think it’s just some incompatibility with the border of the world
The elder scrolls music is a nice touch 👌
Thank you!
its nice to see taborists bc when i click on them my game crashes
That was my experience until I switched to the current game version but I still had like 4-6 crashes
Have Alaska a big Orthodox Community or why is there in the ATE Mod are new Orthodox Faith? (Im from Europe)
Proximity to Russia. But yes there is an Orthodox Church in the Anchorage as if I’m remembering right. Not huge but it’s there
@@Soul_Tomato Okay makes sense that their is some kind of Russian Influence

Hey have you tried playing in the Falklands??
Nah cause then I’d have to play as the British (/s for those who would think I’m being serious when in reality it just doesn’t interest me).
I'd raid further down south if I were you. On the other hand dog slides are quite shit outside the tundra.
Yeah I went as far as maybe Vancouver. Any further and I’d probably have gotten wrecked.
