- Well, it didn't take 9 years to get here, but it sure felt like it! 😂🤣 Here's my Hobonichi 2020 haul unboxing! 💚🙌
My camera's auto-focus wasn't being very cooperative during this recording, so unfortunately, some parts are blurry! 😳 I couldn't re-record this, so I tried to edit out as much as I could.

CORRECTIONS / CLARIFICATIONS:
▶︎ I said that the red Jetstream pen has a 5mm tip, but I meant to say 0.5mm tip!
▶︎ I should have mentioned Hobonichi's warning about the Dashenka cover: "The silk print may eventually peel or come off with daily use. If using a Cover on Cover, the silk print may stick to the plastic and eventually come off with it from the constant contact." Personally, I would NOT want to put a clear Cover on Cover on my Dashenka cover.
▶︎ I mentioned that you can choose Sunday-start or Monday-start for the A6 Techo, but I should have clarified that this applies to the Japanese FULL-YEAR version only. The A6 and A5 Avec books, A6 English planner, A5 Techo and Weeks books only come in Monday-start.

Your unboxing is the best one I’ve seen so far! All of the other unboxing videos I’ve seen, the people unboxing their stuff are just so negative, rude and uninformed and it makes them too hard to watch. It’s nice to finally see someone who’s actually genuinely excited about what they bought. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jade Reneé I agree with you about the unboxing videos this year. I find it suspicious that this year the hobonichi weeks popularity exploded and all of a sudden some of the people who are usually sponsored by other companies have decided to complain about Hobonichi. One youtuber actually told people not to buy from Hobonichi but she gets free Erin Condrens planners.
Your comment really got to me, Jade Reneé! 💖💖💖🤗 I usually don't watch Hobonichi videos at this time of year because I like to be 'surprised' when I get my haul, so I haven't been watching other unboxing videos. I didn't know that some of the unboxing videos have been negative. I realize that not everyone will be 100% thrilled with everything they buy, but it's unfortunate to hear. Personally, when I have a chance to watch videos, I like to watch ones that are cheerful or uplifting, or ones that I can learn something from, because it's a more enjoyable way for me to spend the time I have. I usually don't click on videos with 'complain-y' titles because I don't have any fun listening to complaints or why people don't like something. A lot of those kinds of videos get a huge amount of views, but I'm personally not drawn to the negativity. I really appreciate what you wrote, and thanks for opening my eyes to the way things have been in the realm of Hobo unboxings this year!
Kajiera omg I saw that video too! I had no idea she got free Erin condrens! The thing that’s been bugging me most is when people spend hundreds of dollars just to open it all and complain that most of the planner is in Japanese (I’ve seen this comment about the jibun techo too) and how they wish hobonichi would conform to their idea of the perfect planner.
Humblechan of course. I also haven’t watched the ones with ‘complain-y’ titles either, but even some of the regular ones are just not that enjoyable to watch. And I’m only really watching unboxing videos right now because I want to see what the covers look like. This years hobonichi unboxing season has been unnecessarily stressful to watch 😅
You've opened my eyes, too, Kajiera, just like Jade Reneé has done! I didn't even know this was going on. If I ever watch a video where someone has gotten free product, I tend to keep that in mind as I watch and listen -- the fact that they got the product for free, I mean. I'm *not* saying that people aren't honest in those kinds of videos because some of them definitely are. I just think that, when some people get stuff for free, they'll naturally be very appreciative towards the company that gave them the products, and they might be more inclined to say flattering things.
I'm a tiny RUclipsr who doesn't get anything for free, but I'm honestly more comfortable with that because I can say whatever I want and don't feel an obligation to say something flattering unless I really like something. 😸😁

I wasn't planning on using the box in that way at first, but it just kind of worked out as I went along because it gave me a platform to put the items on without having to zoom in so much with my video camera. 😂😁 I think the box colour each year becomes so instantly recognizable among fellow Hobo lovers, too, so it was fun for me to use it as a backdrop! 💚 I look forward to seeing your unboxing video! ✨📦🙌

I got the Dasenka set also, love all of it!! So darn cute! I am already using mine with my avec. I am surprised I love the pen so much with it. That pop of red is so fun! I want to make a second order if I get a restock notice and get those folders along with some A5 stuff. This was my first Hobonichi order and I am so pleased with it all! Thanks for sharing.
I love your unboxings! You're just so genuinely excited and positive about everything. When I was making my order I noticed the dasenka papers made shipping go up by ¥500, so that might be part of why your shipping was more this year.
I was going to get that paprika weeks with the dasenka cover on cover too, but my bank is weird and wouldn't accept that my purchase from a Japanese store wasn't fraud. I found a cute tartan weeks on jet pens and went with the clear cover. Luckily their markup with free shipping is a bit less than hobonichi's price with shipping, so I was able to pick up a couple pens to make up for the lack of a freebie pen and no dasenka papers! It's supposed to arrive before Friday, and I can't wait.
Humble you ordered just as much as I did . I treated myself for my Bday 9-11 . About 26, yens worth crap lol still waiting though . Next year I will be ordering in November again , shipping only took 1 week .😂I purchased for my Mom too ! Enjoy 🌺

Thanks for sharing your order! I’m waiting for a few more weeks until I order, but this is making me really excited for when I do finally purchase! I do think that the shipping costs have increased this year; if I recall correctly, I believe it’s because Hobonichi has been undercharging for the weight of the packaging and fixed it for this year. I could just be misremembering though!

This message wasn't shown at the time I placed my order, so it was just a little surprising when I logged in to complete my order and saw that the shipping was as high as it was. Love the stuff I got, though! 😁💚🐶

Thanks for this lovely video. In 2019 I used a mega weeks as my only planner and loved it. For 2020 I picked up a regular weeks and was so excited! When it came, I started worrying that there weren't enough notes pages. So ended up ordering the plain notebooks (weeks sized) and a weekly supplement just to try it. I'm trying not to beat myself up over the cost although I know it's a puny order relative to what others have ordered.
Oh, thank you for showing the cards. I just the weeks mega, which didn't come with the cards, so I was curious& I hope you show some layouts with cards. Yes, the shipping was more than I remembered, but I looooove everything 😍😍😍😍
I got the Dashenka cover too - I commented on one of your previous videos that I was going to, and I did! Isn't it wonderful? I'm glad you love yours, too. It's so adorable. The turquoise/teal color is *perfect*, and I particularly love that the fabric is cotton. It has a nice texture. I'm a bit worried that the silkscreened designs won't stay on very well, and that makes me nervous to put a cover-on-cover over it because I feel like the designs might stick to that clear plastic. I always get the A6 English planner (ha - "always" means that it's what I used in 2019, and what I purchased for 2020 - I'm new to the Hobonichi). I wish it came in colors, but I like the layout better so I can deal with the monochrome gray daily and red Sunday printing. I also love reading the quotes, which I can't read in Japanese. :)

Hi Chan! Looks like we had similar hauls! I got the a6, the weeks but also the a5 cousin and I got the dasenka cover like you and the a5 folders, the frame stickers and kita frame washi set and then I got the forest hide n seek cover on cover for a5 and my beloved yellow primavera cover. I wanted the blink bear cover but they were sold out so I got the dasenka cover. Can’t wait for all my stuff to arrive! I ordered some other weeks and covers from amazon Japan,, and from eBay I bought the London cover on cover for my paprika weeks mega! I also ordered the apple green and I think the regular weeks with the flower on it. I am going to start decorating them as soon as they arrive so I will have plenty of fun before 2020! Humblechan hi there! I will be using one weeks as a self care journal to track diet, exercise, mood, etc and one is for art project planning, writing project planning, stuff I am watching on TV and RUclips. And the third weeks is a dog journal for my pups to track their weight, appointments, cute things they do and when they need stuff like shots and teeth cleaning and their medications and what not;) I did get my Avec and my weeks books and now I’m just waiting on my covers and my accessories and a6! I was so happy to open that green box and get my free pens and see all the yummy goodness inside! Also got the A5 5-year techo on Jetpens and that is one spectacular book! Can’t wait to put five years of memories in there!!

Do you only get the freebies if you order a book or can you get them if you order the cover only? I usually get my hobonichi book on Amazon cause it’s a little cheaper with prime but I want to order a cover from the hobonichi website and I’m wondering if the freebies come with the cover too? 🤔🤔

Love your excitement!!! I have to say I was disappointed in the weight the little cards added!!! I placed a large order and did realize the number (6) boxes of cards that I would receive. Ugh I wonder How much that added to shipping cost? Seems like an unwise “gift” choice if it added cost...in my opinion. Prices on the covers had me searching other sources, but happy to have the planners!
I tried to find if someone wrote about it before, the poem collection is the Hyakunin isshu, its 100 poems from 100 different poets. And the game is called karuta :)

Oh, eeeek!! I put a clear CoC on my Dasenka! Maybe if I'm careful and not let it sit in the sun or get too hot, the images will not transfer?? Love all that you bought and, yes, you should use your items now if they make you happy!! I'm currently using the Dasenka cover, and I'd use the other stuff I bought if I could use them now. LOL Do you have a Daiso near you? They have the cutest page index stickers! Two thumbs up!! :D
Hi, B! 😸😁 I've had past experiences with silkscreen prints transferring onto plastic, which is why I'm not going to put a clear Cover on Cover on my Dashenka cover -- I just wouldn't want to risk it! I'd love to know if the print on yours holds up well if you decide to keep the Cover on Cover on it. I love that you're already using and enjoying your cover! 🤗💖🐶 We don't have Daiso stores around here, but I WISH we did!! I'd go crazy over all the stationery stuff! 😂
@@Humblechan I am currently/slowly painting inside our house, and I actually found tiny droplets of paint on the CoC!!! So I will be leaving the Coc on it. LOL I will let you know in a year how it's doing! LOL I have CoC on all my covers, and knock on wood, I haven't had any transfer yet. Eee!

The warning on their website says, "The silk print may eventually peel or come off with daily use. If using a Cover on Cover, the silk print may stick to the plastic and eventually come off with it from the constant contact."
From that, it sounds like the print may come off over time whether you use it with a Cover on Cover or not, but I personally wouldn't want to use mine with a Cover on Cover just because I've had past experiences with silkscreen prints sticking to plastic and coming off [not with a Hobonichi cover but with other things I owned]. I got their Dokonoko cover years ago, which basically had a similar warning: "The images printed on the cover may transfer onto a Cover on Cover. Please avoid using this cover with a Cover on Cover." I never used a clear cover on my Dokonoko cover, and the print still looks great. 😃💗🐶

Humblechan I have to say, I placed another order today to get the Dashenka cover. Also got the Hobo papers for it. And got the ebook for Kindle. Hobonichi addictions apparently create other addictions! But I have to say, I’m glad this company made me know this writer. :-)
That's so awesome!! 😃💖🐶 And I totally agree! For years, Hobonichi has made me curious about the work of various people who have been behind the artwork on their covers. I just bought a couple of notebooks with artwork by Shinsuke Yoshitake, who I learned about through Hobonichi! 📚😸🤗
I feel like the shipping is so high and your box weighs so much is because the freebies they gave this year. They gave this set of playing cards or something and I’ve read they weigh as much as the metal bear from last year (?). There should be a way to opt out of the freebies so the shipping isn’t so much every time you make an order. 🤦🏻♂️
