How lucky were we to see David Ortiz play here in Boston..so many memories..I happened to meet/see him around Boston..He had an aura about him..when he walked in its like MJ walking in except DO would many times take time and be with people.
“David Ortiz stated definitively that he never used steroids or bought them, but acknowledged that he was “careless” -David Ortiz 2009 press conference mhmm sound suspicious 🤨
Such hypocrisy having him being elected into Hall of Fame. He tested positive for steroids in 2003. Even though that was supposed to be confidential, it got out and he along with the likes of ARod, Manny Rameriz and about 100 players tested positive. Why is he in Hall? Because of personality? The Boston Strong speech? His very unfortunate and tragically being shot? Have no problem with him getting in. But if so then the previous mentioned players along with Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, McGuire, Palmeiro etc should be in. Many of their stats are not only better but they were more multidimensional and not just a DH. Big Pappi was a great hitter and among the most clutch hitters of all time so good for him and congrats for getting in. But get off your high horse writers and be consistent. I don’t condone any of those guys taking PED’S, and I am glad more strict guidelines are in place. But at that time baseball turned a blind eye to it. For crying out loud McGwire had them out in the open in his locker during home run chase vs Sosa. Plus remember MLB’s promotion “Chicks dig the longball”? Ok, you have opened up the door. The floodgates should allow the rest in. Because, be honest hundreds of players took PED’S at that time. While some stats may be a little inflated, these guys probably would have been HOF players without them. Baseball just needs to chalk up this as a time of ignorance and even if Hall wants to put on players plaque that he was suspected or caught in an era when baseball had a blind eye to players using PED’S so be it.

Idk how or why ? Because he had decent numbers with the twins and they decided to let him go. He had 20 home runs in his last year with the twins if I was the GM I would be keeping him.
Actually they let him walk, along with pitcher Mike Jackson. The Twins front office was suspicious of Ortiz and Jackson of using PEDs. And with Justin Morneau ready to hit the big leagues, from the Twins standpoint. It made perfect sense to let Ortiz walk.
Yes but the writers liked him and he survived a shooting. If course he got in . Where's Bond and Rose? They can't use steroids as a reason to keep anyone out now.

No disrespect to Big Papi and I want to make clear that I have nothing against him .but it comes to my mind that Bernie Williams a 5 time Championship and a Super Star in his Position discipline player and also Jorge Posada among the best catcher also 5 Championship and a drive on force with the Yankees and none of the two were selected to the Hall of Fame .there something fishing with that action against them.they were more valuable to the game than a DH hitter .

The definition of clutch.
how could you not love big papi!
Love him 🇩🇴
The King of Clutch!!
@okole puka yeah, I’m not sure how I disrespected Manny or how any of what you just said is relevant to my comment at all. That’s cool though.
🐐 of Boston/Boston Strong 💪 I loved his competitive leadership etc 🙂
How can you not love Big Papi!!!
Everyone loves papi
ORTIZ = Platano Power 🇩🇴💪🏽
Respect 🫡
A great red Sox player. 3 rings. Thank you big papi.
Greatest clutch hitter of all time
@okole puka ur not just probably a Red Sox fan ur a manny Ramirez fan
Larger than life itself, with all the hopes & dreams of a young boy, Big Papi was the modern day version of Babe Ruth.

Having Ortiz and Brady at the same time was about as much spoiling a sports fan could ever have. So many wins.
Bergeron and Pierce as well.
👏👏
Also, the man hit nearly .500 over 3 World Series’… that’s 14 games total for the Sox. 🤯
Caught with peds and goes in 1st ballot amazing isn't it? Bob sure didn't talk about that in the interview huh?
I think one of the reasons the Minnesota Twins didn't offer another contract, and let him walk after the '02 season.
Yep, Bob is a hypocrite because he likes Ortiz. Typical of Costas.
a Hall of Famer having a sit-down with another Hall of Famer

Posada and Williams were good players, but neither were ever superstars at their positions.
They were decent players on great teams. David Ortiz carried the Red Sox lineup for many years
Another Yankee fan living on Mars
Delusional Ortiz carried the redsox on his back while posada and Bernie were just additions to an already great team
