I tried this many times, and even watched other videos, but I cannot get it to glow at all during the setup. using the latest unreal. When I create the item, and use a value of 15 or higher, it's just a white circle.. there is no glow what so ever. if I set the value to 1 - 5 then i can see the circle having the original color, but no glow.. What am I doing wrong?
I can't seem to follow at the 5:00 mark, how did you get those drop downs to appear on the details window? Stuck at this point but thanks for a great tutorial!

Hello, I am a beginner in unreal, I followed step by step, comma by comma, of your video, but even so my material did not emit that glow around. :( I can not understand what the problem is, I did everything you showed in the tutorial, but the emissive does not work the way it does. Please, does unreal have any settings that need to be enabled for this to work? Thank you.
@@herobreathes4287 thanks for the reply, of course I saved it just does not work, it seems to be a know issue with new versions of UE4, any other advice?
I've had the same problem and found the solution in another comment: I've had to open the "Project Settings" (on Mac, that's under "Edit"), search for "Bloom" and make sure it's enabled.
Hello and thank you for this tutorial. Unfortunately it does not glow as much as it glows for you with the same exact emission value and color. Hi, thanks for the video! In 5.3, I have a glowing object with a glow effect that is not displayed on objects that are next to it! Do you know what can help?
is there a way to make the material also translucent? Made a rocket exhaust in blender that has 2 layers of transparent emitter materials so an inner emitter shows through the outer one, is there a way to do the same in unreal?

Hello Jayanam! Thank you for this tutorial, easy to understand & follow. Really helpfull overall. I've got one question though. I would like to create a platformer/runner kind of game as my first project, and I would like to have the old classic laser fence in it. Only problem I have, is if I apply this to it, whole object emits the red light, and not just the laser beams. Any idea how I can fix this?
Hello! I'm a bit late, but I find the tutorial very helpful! I just have one question. I tried using a textutre and it works, but the color of the texture doesn't affect the emission. What if I have a texture image with color? How do I set the emission to be based on the color of the texture image?
My emissive material do not glow... When I increase glow intensity it becomes white !! can you help me? I'm trying to using emissive material on 3d text
So that when you create a material instancer from the "Master material" (let's say your original material is blue color and it's non-reflective), you can tweak the Channel that has been converted to parameter. So you can have a Red color and reflective material by adjusting the base color and roughness value.
Great video! Still applicable to this day. One thing to note. NEVER have music of your own in videos like these, please. People will take care of that themselves! thanks
i have made an oil lamp and when i pump up the intensity by 1000000(which is required as the emission texture has very low amount of pixels to work) the result is nice but is flickering, any help? and the sunlight is also flickering as soon i turn on the Light Shaft settings and use fog, in short any glowing source of light is flickering, please i need help quickly. if anyone is seeing this and knows the solution please do comment.

You should create dynamic material in blueprint and specify the exact name of parameter and the required value amount. That may work.
