  • After a VERY long ride, I've made it to Göbeklitepe - a place I've dreamed of seeing with my own eyes for a VERY long time. But now I'm wondering, was it worth it...?

Just a bunch of old stones! Very impressive excavations and on site it is probably breathtaking. I don't know why, but I like these endless streets. It was a great ride! 🫡🥰

I'm really happy for you that you were able to get there to see and experience all of these awesome places and you know just have the experience of this incredible journey you're doing. You make lots of memories and friends and you gain a lot of wisdom and knowledge.

So difficult to really grasp the age of these two sites Appreciate your observations about prices, tourists, weather, and the pros and cons of one site vs the other. When you talk to me about it I feel so sure that I'm going to go, too. That's your magic.

Well done! Your videos are always highly captivating. I do like to hear the stories of the old rocks and why people put them together in the way they did, when they did. This has intrigued me for a long time. It's even more intriguing to me when most or all of what they built is still standing. I am also one to deeply appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscapes, too. Motor on, Ferdia and stay safe!
Oh! I walked 2.5 km yesterday and my left leg didn't fall off. Yay! I haven't done that since the 3rd week of February.

There are several great videos on RUclips about the discovery and excavations by the late Klaus Schmidt at Gobekli Tepe, showing the amazing carvings on the stones in great detail, before there was ever a visitor centre. I read recently that only a fifth of the site has been uncovered, and since the WEF have been in charge of it, the plan is to leave most of it unexcavated! It is one of the great wonders of the world. How wonderful to have been there!

Well done. I could see how emotional you got. I remember the first time I went to Rome and walked the cobbled streets and saw the ruins - I was overcome by the thought that Julius Ceasare may have walked on the very same stones I was... the history that was at my feet was mindboggling.

Completely understand that feeling ^ Gobeklitepe was like nothing else I've experienced 🫣
