This guitar is awesome. I like the pickups a lot on mine. All I did to it was take it in for a professional setup so the tremolo doesn't throw it out of tune and I put a dark brown tortoise shell pickguard on it. Everything else is stock. The smooth/flat bridge saddles are a nice touch too! Its going to be a workhorse.
@@anthonypinkos I took a risk and bought a Fender American Performer Jazzmaster replacement pickguard from eBay. It fits nicely. One screw hole was a little off, but nothing major. Didn't have to drill anything.
bought one b-stock and one new - the bstock has dings dongs n scratches but omg those Pickups.... the A Stock sounded totally flat - the B Stock stays and I will take it to a Professional too because the Trem-DeTuning is horrible. but man ...both Pickups play like a Dream ♥️
Burgandy Mist always looks better in person, and this is a good version of the colour. Looks gold when the light changes. Bridge is good as noted in other comments below. Construction good on mine, fretboard looks cool with figured but straight grain. Really digging mine which I got as a gift from my MiL! Without prompting too. Best, Pete.
Nice of Bax to loan gear to you. I dig the Lake Placid Blue with black pickguard, but I do own a Strat in Burgundy Mist. Nothing like old American car colours for proper guitar vibe :D
They deffiantly improved on the affinitys moved them closer to the older vintage modified line before they moved them up to the classic vibe name and the price up the 249-349 was perfect as long as they don't keep price gauging on these also
@@stang8914 well older Affinity was made by Squier, so in the past that's why they were always around that 179 mark, only the Bullet was cheaper at 149. although you could find older Bullets less than 129, but i would avoid those because those were the cheapest coming out of China at the time. Fender basically revamped the entire range in 2018, the Bullet and Affinity especially got some major upgrades since. so even though they still make Affinity in China, the parts they use on them now come from Fender themselves. so that explains why there better than they were. in the past if you wanted a decent Squier, you have to go the Indonesia route, and the only one's that were made in Indonesia was the Squier Standard range, the Deluxe sometimes referred to as Vintage, and then highest you could go was Classic Vibe. Fender basically simplified all that by creating 3 primary ranges, the Bullet replaced the old Affinity, the Affinity is the new Standard, and obviously the Classic Vibe is what it is. you have a couple new ranges like the Contemporary series and the Paranormal range, but those are like special edition ranges. they make those once in awhile, but the main 3 are, Bullet, Affinity, Classic Vibe.
Bought one yesterday.... Setup was terrible, but sound and feel were there.... Took me 30 minutes to set to my specs.. I love it... I have a MIM Classic Player and a MII Classic Vibe
I got one today. I took off the cheap strings which were rusting already, polished the frets and put new set of 10s. It plays well but might need to tweak the neck and adjust the trem tension. The vibrato stays in tune pretty well with light use,. The pickups are very high output and while they are not bad sounding they lack the shimmer of the pure vintage in another JM. I plan to put a set of PV pickups in mine.
Bought the exact same yesterday - ridiculously good quality for such a cheap instrument - got mine for £203 from GAK. I've got Fender Strats and Teles, Gibson Les Paul, Hamer XT, a Duesenberg Starplayer, etc and this is easily as good as any of those, for a fraction of the price. Beautiful guitar!
I have the burgundy mist tele deluxe and I'm so impressed I think I need another affinity. If you smack a tort guard on this baby it looks just like an American performer jazzmaster. Chinese performer jazzmaster if you will 😅
It is a nice cheap entry jm, but less so as a mod platform. The pickups are jm shaped p90’s, a single coil bobbin with adjustable steel slugs and two ceramic bar magnets hot glued against the bottom. You can replace them for actual jm pickups but if you also replace the pickguard you are rapidly approaching the price of the various higher end squier jazzmaster which are true jazzmasters out of the box. So I like it as it’s own thing, but using it as a starting point towards building a complete jazzmaster is not cost effective.
That’s one of the big upgrades to the 2021 affinity line: split shaft vintage style tuners. They made these guitars with modding/upgrading in mind, so the placement of everything is closer in line to the fender stuff.
Way better that the mini version. Cool. While this is great I still feel like the CV is the best bang for the buck out of Squier and Fender. Like the difference in cost between the Affinity and Classic Vibe is justified in what you get, trem system, extra finish on the nut, AlNiCo pups, tuners, bone nut full thickness body upgraded Pickguard and the rhythm circuit. You get your money's worth of you step up in the line from Affinity to CV. Once you step up from CV to Fender though, you don't get your money's worth. I had a Vintera JM and it didn't feel any better. Needed the same electronic upgrades, didn't have a bone nut and the trem system on the MIM still isn't as nice as the trem system on a USA model. The USA models don't feel all that much better than the CV models either--infact the CV are usually more historically accurate with specs and whatnot than many American models. I love Squier and sold some Fender to get more Squier. Bang for buck, CV and VM and special series (Paranormal, Vista, etc...) Are worth the added cost and yield the best quality and experience for your money.
@@theguitarmanifesto Me too. For sure. With the exception of a Thinline Telecaster, I have the VM version. I love the shorter scale of it. I'll shoot a photo over through IG. You'll dig it.
I have to agree with Andy, I have had this guitar for a couple months and these pickups sound nothing like my other jazzmaster pickups in my opinion. They have screw pole pieces and most likely ceramic bar magnets inside. If I swap them I’ll rip it apart and take a look inside the pups.
@@zaqwoodward8851 they are similar to p-90 with 2 ceramic magnets beneath each pickup -but they are their own thing since the shape and size of the pickup are different to a P-90 -flatter and wider
@@theguitarmanifesto in all honesty, & I’ve posted this on a few vids, if it wasn’t for a certain left handed guitarist, offsets wouldn’t be on Fenders radar, I want to give them my money but they keep blowing it, might just go get an Artist Grungemaster & customise it when they’re back in stock. I’m with you on the silky affinity necks. They are hard to beat.
Oh they sure are 🤘🎸
Just picked this guitar up, so far I’m impressed
Very cool guitar, enjoy 🎸💯
That was an amazinggg sound for the price. I just bought a squire tele for a cheap one but i like this far better
Its a great guitar still has a unique sound
your reviews are the best on youtube my friend! congratulations and keep it up ☺️👍👍
Thank you very much 🎸💯
I'm deciding on a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster or a Stratocaster. Haven't made up my mind yet.
Well a stratocaster would have alot more modding support(because strat). But nothing beats the look of a Jazzmaster imo. Really up to preference.
Jazzmaster for me 💯🎸
Love your playing
Awesome glad you enjoyed it 🎸💯👌😎
They're 280 U.S. dollars here in the states, and worth every penny, IMHO!! Cheers, Rob!! :)

Most definitely the Squier far better for and finish

Are all squire bullet and affinities with 9.5 radius necks?
Yes but bullet Mustang is 12"
*Are stock pickups noisy, generating lot of hum?*
Nothing at all on my rig 🎸🤘
Does it chug😂? Serious question tho im thinking about getting the all black one but i play heavier stuff
No reason why it wouldn't
