Cody, I know you love your Schmitt, but Buster has already said Fitz earned a role on next year's team. If you look at minor league stats, Fitzgerald absolutely destroyed AAA pitching, far better than CS. Playing 2nd base should alleviate some pressure, not having to go out and man SS everyday. That wore him out. He is also far more flexible in where he can play and has the speed that the Giants desperately need. Casey had zero speed...as well as a poor OBP. Keep up the good work! we need another big move, but i hate to lose more draft picks

I’ve never said Fitz isn’t going to get first crack, or that he didn’t earn it last season. I’m simply saying I’m not sold on his sustainability until he stops whiffing at an absurd rate on pitches in the zone. Schmitt made some improvements across the board last season, if that continues I see him being the better long term player. And I really want to see Fitz pan out, I love the speed element he brings to the team and they badly need it, I’m just looking at this objectively as far as what I think is more likely to improve (Fitz swing and miss vs Schmitt’s plate discipline)

@@EYDShow I get your point, but have you ever considered that bread is just raw toast?

🤷‍♂️ time will tell on all this. I’m perfectly fine with rolling with Fitz at 2B and Schmitt in a bench role. Just think it’s premature to champion Fitz the “2B of the future” that’s all. He has a ton to prove still, most of them do.

AS great as the Dodgers are, if we had Blake Snell going, the Dodgers weren't hitting that day. Now we don't have him anymore, but the point is, and it's been true forever, Great pitching nullifies great hitting, usually. So be careful about trading off pitching for hitting.

They definitely can’t trade off all of it. Agree that they need to build up a great staff. But they do still need to be able to score runs against LA to win and can’t create a team that’s only capable of winning games 2-1. That’s why it makes sense to trade from these arms to try to get a bat or 2, especially if they land Burnes.

THE GIANTS ARE CHEAP THEY KEEP FULLING AROUND AND MISS ON BURNS THEY MISS OUT ON OTHER PLAYERS I KNOW THEY CAN DO OTHER THINGS YOU GET 1 TOP PLAYER AND NOTHING ELSE MAKES YOU A LOSER TEAM THEY SAY LETS STAY IN 4TH PLACE YEAR AFTER YEAR

I don’t think they are being cheap re Burnes. At some point you need to stop bidding against yourself. If they’re already offering $250M over 8ish years then they should absolutely be calling Burnes/Boras’ bluff that he would really play for TOR.
