    So awesome. Finally. Thank you.

    well done, this is a brilliant add-on, but just not affordable in South Africa right now - but I do have a question: does editing dimension values make changes to the model (and vice versa)?

      @janholinka7750  19 дней назад

      Not at all. Dimension objects are not linked any way with any other geometry - im thinking about adding drivers, that will try trace selected vertices - if that even will be possible (editing such mesh will definitely broke drivers and dimensions). Its just simple vanila blender mesh object at this point. Its meant more like, that you type length of dimension with numbers, and then you can adjust geometry to match the dimension.

      @@janholinka7750 i get you - so the mesh will snap to your dimension tool and your dimension tool will snap to your mesh - goes both ways, right?
      the big problem with MeasureIt (and similar add-ons like CADSketcher) is that they don't print to paper and BlenderBIM isn't visible in isometric view (only plan and elevation) - your tool does print to paper, right? if so, it sounds like the tool to have...

    This is so good! 2D Autocad type dwgs in Blender with dims, automated hatching and replication of plot styles and drawings scaling to "paper space." Such a great idea! Thanks 😍😍😍

    I'm guessing that to produce drawings we need to use Scene manipulation (to separate the dimensions and annotations from the model). Can you also show us your procedure for using different camera views combined onto a drawing sheet for export (PDF, SVG?). Would it be possible to have leaders with text? It would be amazing of the text could be linked to the value of an obejct's Custom Properties (this could, for example, be an object's description).

      I do not understand what do you mean by separating dimensions and annotations from the model? All created is just common mesh - vertices, edges and faces (only text is Blender standard text object which is Curve object). Just render it. I also do not undestand how do you mean exporting to PDF or SVG... you mean with some addon? As far as I know Blender in its vanila state does not support exporting mesh geometry to SVG or PDF. Just grease pencil and that only apply to the latest version. So there is currently no support in my addon for svg or pdf export (Im planning pdf in future). There is also no support for composing different camera Views together. You can combine them as you wish if you want or need (in compositor, or after render outside Blender), but my addon does not have any tools for that. I can add some form of leaders in future, but they are not really planned at this point. I will check if linking is possible. I just really like to do it in a way, that everything created is completely independent and functional with vanila Blender, and Im not really sure, that linking values will be possible - maybe with drivers. I will add it to my "pontential functionality" list. :)

      i'm not sure, but your last point sounds like you're talking about IFC BIM schema standards, where digital information can be linked in various ways to objects in the 3D environment (such as ISO standards, manufacturer specs and so on)?

      The addon is for Blender, and Blender itself allows the creation of drivers - these are small script snippets that enable connecting and influencing various variables in different objects. Not everything can be connected to everything else within the drivers that are natively available in Blender. I want the things created by my addon to work in regular Blender without the addon, which is why it doesn't make sense to write custom variable connections. So, if it will be possible to create connections that modify the dimension text using drivers, I might add that in the future. If not, then I won't. I don't know the exact specifics of BIM standards, and they are not really relevant to my goal.

      @@janholinka7750 i am a staunch Blender user for about 4 years now - this add-on is exactly what i am looking for - if it will print to paper that is - the end of your video shows paper sizes, so i am assuming it can be printed (not sure how yet tho) - the IFC BIM stuff was for the other guy who asked a question - not sure what it was, i'm on my phone right now - but yes, the question i asked earlier about changing dimensions was just a wishlist thing - also i am rubbish at geonodes - i can do basic stuff, but my maths sucks :D

    can i actually extract the lines from the floor plan with no curves? Only sharp edges. If you do, i am sold. Because i need to extract the lines from the floor plan to create walls. so i dont need to always create walls agn.

      I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean. The addon doesn't have any tools for extracting edges from anything. However, you can of course use Blender's native tools in edit mode to extract edges from anything. It's mentioned and demonstrated in the video that if you have an object made up of only edges, the addon will then create lines where the edges are. These lines are aligned to the X-Y plane relative to the object's orientation.
